SEPULTURA, SOULFLY Share Stage At Germany's DEVILSIDE FESTIVAL; Photos Available - July 1, 2009
SEPULTURA and SOULFLY (featuring former SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera) shared the stage for the first time ever at the Devilside Festival on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Landschaftspark in Duisburg-Nord, Germany. Also appearing on the bill were MOTÖRHEAD, MISFITS, SODOM and CRO-MAGS, among others.

Check out photos from the event at Metal-Hammer.de.

(Note: SEPULTURA an SOULFLY have played some of the same European festivals before, but never on the same day.)

In a recent interview with Blistering.com, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser was asked if there any resentment toward the band's new lineup in Brazil since in North America, it seems the old lineup is that all people want to concern themselves when it comes to SEPULTURA. "Everywhere we feel very positive vibrations," Kisser replied. "Max has played a lot more in America than us, so his point of view was spread much more in the press. I guess that's normal, it's propaganda. Max is crazy — he says crazy stuff in interviews, contradicts himself a lot and you can never count on what he says, so I guess people are confused. People can say or think whatever they want, but I wish we could have done without that. We are going to have the chance to go back to America. This album is really strong and the reaction has been strong as well. I've been doing a lot of interviews with people in the United States and it's been very positive. People have to listen to the music with an open mind and ears and not with all the gossip and politics and bullshit. SEPULTURA is something that is alive. It's not something that stopped in '95 or '96. We create this band everyday."

When asked if he braces himself with every interview he does for the question regarding a SEPULTURA reunion, Kisser replied, "Definitely [laughs]. Since Max left, it's been going on and when Igor [drums; Max's brother] left… even more so. Some people make up the pressure for us to do it, but there's nothing to it — we're not interested in it all. We're very focused on what we're doing now and that's because we want to lead and do whatever we want. I don't understand all of this bullshit. We're very alive and looking toward the future — we're not plastic people. "

I love it that everywhere Andreas goes he is hammered with questions about Max.

You had to have seen Sepultura back in the day. Without Max, they are still a good band but definitely not great. They don't have a leader

And let this happen. Max and Igor need to stop being greedy and at least tour again with Sepultura. Without Max it is not sepultura, its merely a cover band with an out of place singer.

I'm glad to know a reunion will never happen. Kisser is far too honest about his music to let this happen.

Plus, even though I have to admit that the last couple of Soulfly records were pretty good, Max does not deliver anymore, on a stage. He's cold, acts like a robot, does not seem to care about his audience anymore. He behaves like he's some kind of a kingpin, an icon. I love most of the material he wrote along his career, but he looks like a parody today.

Old Sep albums aside, taken at face value Green is a shitty vocalist and the music they are putting out now doesn't hold up to

hold up to Roots let alone anything before that. Reunion or not, new Sep is crap, new Soulfly is crap and CC is a rehash of decent old material and the new shitty music.

All these current-Sepultura-haters are the same ones that bitched and bitched about Roots, right?

If you listen to fools, the mob rules.

why are we so close minded?sepultura does not need max and igor A-LEX is the reason the past is past , why we dont understand that some bands change line-ups ,and that does not means, that the band is bad, please get a life

max and andreas should be friends again, at least... not for a reunion... but a jam here and there would be interesting... all of them are old now... no need for egos...

MAX + ANDREAS = Schizo/Beneath/Arise/Chaos AD (Sepultura's finest)

Tommy Leeggor is a kick ass drummer but is more interested in e-music... Max and Andreas were always the main writters...
