MEGADETH: 'Endgame' Track Listing Revealed - July 1, 2009
BLABBERMOUTH.NET can reveal the track listing for MEGADETH's twelfth studio album, "Endgame", which is due on September 15 through Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

"Endgame" track listing:

01. Dialectic Chaos
02. This Day We Fight!
03. 44 Minutes
04. 1,320'
05. Bite The Hand That Feeds
06. Bodies Left Behind
07. Endgame
08. The Hardest Part Of Letting Go... Sealed With A Kiss
09. Headcrusher
10. How the Story Ends
11. Nothing Left To Lose

MEGADETH's brand new track entitled "Headcrusher" will be made available for free download on Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. EDT at the Roadrunner Records web site.

As previously reported, the studio version of "Headcrusher" is available for listening by calling MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine's number (866.597.6342) at TheLiveLine, a service he launched that enables musicians to connect to their audience over the phone.

"Endgame" was helmed by Mustaine and acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD). Sneap also manned the boards for 2007's "United Abominations".

According to a press release, "Endgame" "boasts the technicality, ferocity and snarl that's synonymous with MEGADETH and Mustaine. It's a violent masterwork that represents Mustaine's best work in nearly two decades. In a musical world dominated by bands that make generic, blanket statements, 'Endgame' finds Mustaine, once again, making informed and substantial lyrical declarations about the state of the world we live in."

Commented Mustaine: "Thematically, I've never been known to be a silent bystander in a world that needs our participation. As more is revealed about our former President's legacy, a little-known yet staggeringly frightening document which was signed into law, named 'Endgame', has been uncovered. The album 'Endgame' is the most energetic music offering I have penned in over a decade and is far more believable than knowing someone signed 'Endgame' — the document — into law. The album is also the perfect 'ass-kicking' music to listen to once you are done reading the aforementioned document!"

He added, "This new album is my proudest moment since the famous (or infamous) 'Rust in Peace' album. With this album, I am also very excited to be introducing my new lead guitarist, Chris Broderick, to the world. I have always felt lucky to have had top shredders in that position, but after touring with Chris in support of my last album, I couldn't wait to get into the studio and see what he could do."

Sleepwalker gave a lot of people false hope when it was released as a single/preview. I enjoyed UA, but something along the lines of the earlier work would be something I would like immensely.

so now megadeth wants to follow in Metallica's footsteps (yet again) by trying to create a time machine back to old school thrash in hopes to re-live their glory?

I liked Megadeth just fine with their previous direction. Dave needs to stop being so obvious with his intentions.

^^^^just had to add that Mustaine just couldn't resist the old "best album since....(insert your bands infamous glory day album here)" comment. Didn't hear that at all from Metallica about Death Magnetic and Master of Puppets did we??

still, Megadeth is one of my favorites, but really Dave? Do you have to do this?

We've been waiting for Megadeth to get back to their thrash roots since 93. No one gave a shit about what Metallica was gonna do. You couldn't beat thrash back into Dave with a hammer. It's about time he tries.

Grunge didn't kill metal. Metal stopped making good shit. Dave stopped thrash and went pop. Don't blame producers or record labels. Your name is on that CD as Co producer. Own it.

Endgame needs to be good. It's what I expect from a legend.

Excited to hear it. The more important question is where can you read this "endgame" document...It would be cool if Mustaine included it in the album.

It's good to see a "metalhead" politically aware. Not saying many aren't it just seems to be image of ignorance that culture/media gives metal fans. And don't get me wrong some are total tools (And probaly Tool fans) and post here often :)

Looks awesome but i am left with a question. What happened to 12 tracks being put on the album? I could've sworn i read 12 somewhere, maybe wikipedia. i guess that goes to show you can't believe everything you see, especially wikipedia. well, nonetheless, i'm ready for endgame, bring on the deth!!!

I totally agree. Blaming Lars for the "Risk" experiment and the record label, and Marty Friedman and David Ellefson (for apparently writing songs on piano)....is it ever Dave Mustaine's fault for the downfall of Megadeth? He always wants all the glory 90% to himself and 10% to all else involved. Well, he has to take that same amount of responsibility for when things turn to shit, as he so whiningly said in "Some Kind of Monster". Man up and own up, Dave.

Here's hoping Endgame gets the job done this time. United Abominations bamboozled us.

Dear Confused,

Why are you trying to blame Wikipedia for the discrepancy in track numbers when all they did was quote Dave Mustaine from a source where Dave "confirmed" all 12 tracks were recorded. So only 11 tracks made the final cut (at least for the US), it doesn't mean there's an error in the reporting that Wiki did or this report from Blabber. It's not a big stretch to assume that that unnammed 12th track simply did not make the cut...or may be used as a bonus track in Europe/Japan...or some kind of B-side...or shelved for a later use, or not at all.

Happens all the time in the recording industry.

'89? What thrash song did Metallica write in '89? Justice was the last I know of. Shit, as far as I'm concerned, Justice was the last recording Metallica ever did.

Eagerly awaiting the new Mustaine!

/hope Cliff is sodomizing MJ with metal spikes for shits and giggles.

TSHF was arguably better than UA and it proved to be more "thrashier" than UA. UA's 1st half was good...the rest was filler (all you real fans of megadeth know that). And just to compare Tallica's DM (which was a sign of better things to come)...here's hoping Endgame would be like DM...or even better. Till then, Rust in Peace and CTE (are and were Megadeth's finest work), imo.

What, no A Tout Le Monde this time?

I also agree that TSHF was a stronger album than UA, partly because I don't always agree with Dave's politics and don't appreciate being told that the UN should just be the armed wing of USA, or so it sounds to my ears.

Looking forward to it, Nevermore employed Chris for a while and that's a huge endorsement in my book, excited to hear this man let loose.

What does that fascist propaganda have to do with Megadeth? I haven't read anywhere where Dave has said "...oh, this is in response to...". The term "Endgame" has been around for a long time, so, just because the government has employed it's usage for some cheesy, fascist, government policy dosen't mean that Dave Mustaine is some sort of "let's kill people wearing funny socks" kind of guy. Dave always, all songwriters, poets, musicians, scientists, everyone has some sort of apoclyptic "fantasy". Dave just has lots of them. I'm gonna download "Crown of Worms" right now...

It rocks, I don't know what you people are complaining about.
