THE FACELESS Interviewed At Finland's TUSKA Festival; Video Available - July 2, 2009
Finland's HardcoreSounds.Net conducted an interview with THE FACELESS vocalist Derek Rydquist and guitarist Michael "Machine" Keene at the 12th annual Tuska open-air metal festival, which was held June 26-28, 2009 at Kaisaniemi in Helsinki, Finland. Watch the eight-minute chat below.

"Planetary Duality", the latest album from THE FACELESS, sold around 5,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 119 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

An e-card for "Planetary Duality" can be found at this location. The CD was released on November 11, 2008 via Sumerian Records.

Regarding the concept of the new record, Michael Keene previously said, "There are a lot of underlying themes within the album title, the idea that these inter-dimensional beings are from another planet similar to our own and a lot of the development on earth is directly related to their influence. There is also the other layer of it, the idea that we're only aware of the one dimension we exist in but there's more to our planet than that."

Other songtitles that appear on the CD include "The Ancient Covenant", "Xenochrist" and the two-part title track, "Planetary Duality Pt. 1" and "Planetary Duality Pt. 2". Speaking on the meaning of "The Ancient Covenant", Keene said, "'The Ancient Covenant' is about an agreement between man and the inter-dimensional beings, sort of similar to the rules of engagement so to speak, between these two life forms."

THE FACELESS' debut album, "Akeldama", was released in 2006 via Sumerian Records.

But sometimes the bummer about tech bands is that they're so busy concentrating on playing that there's little stage presence or acivity. No moshing apart from the singer and all these guys have short hair too, which doesn't help.

Missed these guys when they visited Australia. I hope that isn't the only time they'll come down here. Many by-pass us.

Thankfully Psycroptic are locals (even if it's Tassie).
