NIGHTWISH: Footage Of GRASPOP METAL MEETING Performance Available - July 3, 2009
Video footage of NIGHTWISH performing at this year's installment of the Graspop Metal Meeting — which was held on June 26-28, 2009 on the festival grounds of the Boeretang in Dessel, Belgium — can be viewed below.

NIGHTWISH's video for "The Islander" was honored with a "Best Music Video" award at the Muuvi awards ceremony, which was held on April 17, 2009 in Helsinki.

"The Islander" clip was shot and directed by Tuomas "Stobe" Harju at the end of 2007 in Rovaniemi, Finland near the Arctic Circle.

Muuvi awards are handed out annually to the best Finnish music videos.

"Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)", the new CD/DVD from NIGHTWISH, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 15. It also opened at No. 2 in Finland and dropped down to No. 5 in its second week of release.

Released on March 13 via Nuclear Blast Records, "Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)" contains a DVD documentary (with a running time of approximately 45 minutes) of NIGHTWISH's world tour in support of the band's latest album, "Dark Passion Play", as well as a CD featuring live recordings from the trek. The documentary footage was reportedly directed by Ville Lipiäinen.

I think she looks fine, though she probably gained a couple of pounds. She was tiny when she was first introduced.
From the looks of her choice of fashion, she's supporting one of the local designers again.

I was at this concert and got disapointed to see how a once great band is brought down by a mediocore singer.

She is no rock / metal singer, she hasn't got the power to bring it on stage and gets often out of tune. She's lacking the X-factor and her voice is just one of the dozen.

The combination of an operasinger with metalmusic really made them special and lots of fans at Graspop got frustrated to hear a popsinger ruin the old songs.

Nightwish is losing the fans that made them great and this band risks to be out of place on a metalfestival soon.

So, if they want to avoid that, bring back Tarja or get a real good female singer, like the one from Afer Forever, Epica, Delain, Within Temptation...

"She is no rock / metal singer, "

Yes because faux-opera singers like Tarja classify as rock/metal singers right ? Ironically TARJA said herself that she had NO interest in the metal genre & that she ISN'T an opera singer. So if the singer herself says shes not metal then guess what...SHE IS'NT METAL & she lacks the full skill of an Opera singer hence why shes in a genre she initially had no interest in!

"The combination of an operasinger with metalmusic really made them special"

Special ? Really ? What about : Delain , Epica , After Forever , Visions Of Atlantis , Tristinia, Within Temptation etc *most of which the lead females have way more Operatic capabilities than Tarja*
There was nothing "special" about NW with Tarja--The thing that makes NW special is Tuomas' writing ability which *arguably* over-shadows most of the aforementioned bands.

"Nightwish is losing the fans that made them great and this band risks to be out of place on a metalfestival soon."

Yes NW are losing fans--Thats why "Dark Passion Play" is: more successful than their first 4 albums combined, is just as/if not more successful than "Century Child" and "Once"---
For every Tarja fan---the so-called NW fans who only cared about the old singer----NW lost, they gained new ones & still kept the loyal fans--who accepted change & the bands decision---they had since they started..

*FYI-----Tarja was already planning on leaving the band after the "Once" album*;)

I do think NW had a diff presence with Tarja *& I think its greatly due to how her choice of clothing & Tarjas attitude*--so there was more "heavy" *appearance wise, not music wise* vibe back then

Now they seem more----happy I guess,lol...Esp when Anette treats the boys like brothers on stage..She definitely has improved *vocal & presence wise* over a year--def using that head voice to its full capability----& crowds seem to continue to react positive to her *despite the very-few bitter Tarjaholics who can't move on*

Cute outfit though---love the boots;=)

I agree that Nightwish have more success with their last album, than with the previous ones. But that's not due to the departure of Tarja, neither to the arrival of Anette.

"Once" was their biggest success so far and their name became big due to the reputation they build up over the years; they're among the major selling metal(?) acts now.

Anette does a fair job on "Dark Passion play" and for the new fans that do not compare with Tarja, she's good enough. I agree that the band is much happier now with Anette than before.

This was the first time that I saw the band live with Anette and I hoped she would convince me that she was a good choice. But quit the opposite happened...

I doubt if she's going to stay in the band, because there are many better female rock singers out there. Like I said before, take one from Delain, After Forever, Epica, Within Temptation... and their star would rise a great deal!

Tarja solo misses the composing talents of Tuomas, so that's no real alternative at the moment. So, I'm not a absolute Tarja fan, but I'm not blind or deaf for the loss in quality that her depature has caused (especially live).

I respect your opinion regarding Anettes vocal ability---but there are persons who think she does a fine job with the old songs....Just as there are persons who think Tarja is a good singer some persons can't stand her less-than stellar operatic styling....
I think Anette will stay for the fact that she can't/shouldn't be compared to those other women..She is'nt classically *those women are* trained so she has no reason to feel insecure about her voice....
Tarja on the other hand had every reason to feel insecure considering the frontwomen of :After Forever , Epica ,Within Temptation & Visions Of Atlantis are 1000x more skilled at Operatic styles & overall vocal ability..Tarja isn't that great of a singer anyway *just search any performance from the "End of an Era" tour*

And as long as NightWish continues to be more successful than their peers Anette* & the band* is'nt going anywhere..
