Former FAITH NO MORE Singer CHUCK MOSLEY 'Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food' - July 6, 2009
Rap and rock music, though viewed through the public lens as worlds apart, are not as distant from one another as they seem. The energy, aggression, and valiant spirit make them the perfect vehicles for unabashed expression, and rap-rock veteran Chuck Mosley realizes this. He is the embodiment of the unification of these two musical forces, as well as the various musical influences he has accumulated as both an artist and an avid music fan. On August 11, he releases his first solo album, "Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food", via Cleveland-based label Reversed Image Unlimited.

Mosley's return with "Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food" showcases the Godfather of rap-metal seamlessly blending rock, hip-hop, metal, punk and funk. Recounting his previous work, Mosley, as he describes it, would "rant to the beat." On his latest effort, Mosley's musical stew combines this approach with an exploration of his vocal range. It's apparent that he chose to let his amalgam of cultural saturations melt into this new album, which he describes as "just very normal for me."

"Will Rap…" was produced by multi-platinum award-winning producer/engineer Michael Seifert (BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY, FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE, and most recently Reversed Image electro-rockers THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!). Featuring guest appearances from a cast of characters Chuck has affectionately deemed Vanduls Ugenst Allliderasy, John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON), Roddy Bottum (FAITH NO MORE, IMPERIAL DRAG), and Michael Cartellone (LYNYRD SKYNYRD) all contribute to the record. KORN frontman Jonathan Davis (courtesy of Warner Bros. Records), who attributes Mosley as a massive influence, also makes an appearance on the lead single "The Enabler".

In the '70s, Mosley was just a kid growing up in Southern California with no limitations on his tastes in music. A musical sponge, he studied classical piano for 10 years, while soaking up influences from jazz, rock, pop, and early rap. Eventually signing on to front FAITH NO MORE, he crafted these influences to pioneer a whole new take on heavy music. Bringing the rhythm and raw emotion of rap vocals to the riff-laden, chaotic-nature of rock, Mosley became an innovator which many musical acts would emulate, including KORN, LINKIN PARK, LIMP BIZKIT, and KID ROCK. He would later front legendary hardcore/reggae group the BAD BRAINS as well.

From July 28 to August 10, fans will be able to pre-order Chuck Mosley's "Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food" CD online at this location and receive a personally autographed CD, plus completed download and a special edition postcard.

Chuck should do more hardcore like his oh-so-brief stint with Bad Brains, that's something I'd pay to hear.

I'll check this out, but it will probably be lackluster at best.

meh..i had friends in the late 80s who swore the Chuck era of FNM was the best, but i really didn't think they were anything special until Patton joined. it's not like a roth/hagar or scott/johnson kind of thing for FNM, the Chuck era was lame and the Patton era was awesome. same goes for Jim Martin, he wasn't anything special.

Anyone who says pre-The Real Thing FNM sucks needs to get their ears checked. In fact, Introduce Yourself is essentially The Real Thing with a different vocalist.

dude, seriously. . . ? so now that faith no more is back on the scene, low and behold, here comes the singer before patton, just riding the limelight success/popularity, and soaking up every moment. . . i mean, until this moment, do any of you guys really remember hearing a single thing about mosely. . . .

here's something to keep in mind. . . . was it mosely that sang on the real thin, angel dust, kfadffalt, or even album of the year. . . ??? seriously guys, there is only one faith no more vocalist, end of story.

now, i know that there's gonna be haters on this exact verbage, but hey, martin screwed himself by being just what patton called him.. . "a hippie reject from out of the 70's". sorry jim, but john has a more professional head on his shoulders, and besides. . . album of the year has some (and yes i love every album just about equill) of the best written material by this comaderie. . . . chuck needs to go away, back to the greese pit he came from. . . lol

btw. . . after reading all of this overopinionated b.s., let's all ask ourselves one question. . . WHAT-IS-IT?

COMMENT | So we can blame him!!!

@ HolyPlague: Chuck has been working on this record since 2000. He worked when he felt inspired and when time allowed him to do so. It had nothing to do with the FNM reunion. Chuck has a family he is really devoted to and is a successful chef. Music is something he has done over the last several years out of passion. He didn't focus only on this record because he wanted to raise his kids.

Post FNM Chuck had a stint in Bad Brains and his own band named Cement. Don't be a douche bag when you don't know what you're talking about...although I suppose that's what Blabbermouth is about most of the time.

Its obvious you're a complete Patton fanboy which is cool because he's really talented. However, perhaps you should realize there are several other talented members in the FNM camp. Without Jim Martin Angel Dust wouldn't have been as great of a record. Billy has done a lot of cool stuff within the punk and metal scene outside of FNM. Roddy's Imperial Teen project had solid success. Puffy has drummed for a whose who of great bands over the last decade. FNM is and was much more than just Mike Patton. Open your eyes.

I always thought Mike Patton only did FNM for the money so he could do his own side projects that he really wanted to do.

i like you guys talking about the later on fnm albums, pattons said they sucked, go listen to the bungl/fantmas interviews, hes said it multiple times, they sucked and he saw the end of fnm.

that being said, what you hail as great, the artist you praise found it to be fecal matter.

can i put my cheek against yours? if i dont i wont be able to get my lips onto pattons buttox with the rest of you.
