DIMEBAG's Guitar On Display At New Hard Rock Cafe In Dallas - July 6, 2009
Patrick Michels of DallasObserver.com reports that the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas, Texas is finishing up its preparations for a soft opening next week, but invited press to take a look around their new digs today, at the south end of Victory Park, one block from the House Of Blues.

Plenty of rock memorabilia, including boots, hats and bandannas from Texas favorites, was already framed and hung on the walls, including a metal skid plate guitar from PANTERA's "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (from 2000's "Reinventing The Steel" tour) hangs at the far end of the restaurant. (See photo at this location.)

The restaurant's planning an August 20 grand opening with The Old 97's, masters of the restaurant theme song, but will open its doors and welcome its first tourists July 15.

Check out the DallasObserver.com slide show of what you'll find on the walls.

I still remember standing 3 feet from the man while playing that guitar at the Extreme Steel tour in Little Rock. Man that was a great show, Morbid Angel, Skrape, Static-X, Slayer and Pantera and the fucking heat was unreal!

His real guitar that looks like that said "Reinventing The Steel" across the fretboard. That's a really shitty replica put out for mass production by Dean Guitars. That identical guitar can be purchased at any Guitar Center in the nation. I guess they didn't wanna pony up the cash for real memorabilia.

They probably can't afford a real one. Hard Rock in Dallas went out of business years ago . Cool location. In a former church.

The new location? A 22nd century shopping area outside of the AAC, where the Mavericks and Stars play. Probably in the old steakhouse. Nice place. Huge video screens that move along the outside of the building. But empty. a ghosttown.

Bet? Fail. I hope Guitar Center in Dallas got paid up front.

...That is one stupid angry kid .

' I miss fuckin dimebag's version of the blues that's for damn sure will never be another guitarist like him fuckin shit.'

Aside from the copious 'fuckin', what made you just tag on 'fuckin shit' at the end of that completed sentence?

That IS Dime's guitar. It's clearly a Washburn, not a Dean. And there were 3 or 4 of those guitars built at the same time, one of which was way too heavy and he didn't want all of that weight around his back when playing live - Dime tested it out and gave it back to Washburn to make a lighter one for him. The heavy one was eventually sold to Boogie Street Guitars in Pittsburgh and I played it personally when visiting there. It was eventually sold to a private collector. I think there were a few more. So yeah, that's not the one from the Reinventing The Steel tour, but it IS legit.
