Morten promises his fans a "sweeping listening experience," which will follow the path of TRISTANIA's masterpiece "Beyond the Veil". Adcording to a press release, "The first songs stay true to his promise and offer beautiful melodies and bombastic choir passages, thus creating the perfect blend of traditional gothic metal and modern elements."

Commented Veland: "I am happy to have signed to Napalm Records for my new project MORTEMIA. I am looking forward to the cooperation with the label and to bring out more music to all the metal fans out there."

"The 13th Floor", the new album from SIRENIA, debuted at No. 149 on Billboard's Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

This is great news! He started out in that vein with Sirenia and then they went to shit. I can't wait to hear this, especially since he claims it will be in the vein of Beyond the Veil.

I was just listening to the new Sirenia a few minutes ago! It's pretty killer and more like the other ones than the last... but IMO the last one is far from shit. I don't believe the guy could play bad music if he tried.

Only thing I'm wondering is why he needs to have a side project? A Beyond the Veil sounding album wouldn't sound that out of place as the next Sirenia record.

COMMENT | Really looking forward to this one

It's generally not a good idea to copy your old stuff but it should at least be good. The first two Tristania albums and the Sirenia debut were fresh and unique material but the new Tristania and the new Sirenia sucks big time... It's just a pale copy of what's trendy right now (not saying that trendy is bad, there are very good trendy bands as well) without any identity whatsoever.

I will believe it when I hear it... I would love to hear him go back to that sound and vibe and for him to actually sing again instead of some female all the time. We shall see.

does this mean he's going to put out metal again instead of this boring lacuna coil/nightwish stuff?

Why does he need a band for this? Sirenia is already pretty much his solo project...and the first 2 Sirenia albums sounded alot like "Beyond The Veil". Oh well, if he is indeed returning to that sound, I guess it doesnt matter what he calls it.
