KOBRA KAI Featuring SHADOWS FALL, FATES WARNING Members: New Shows Announced - July 9, 2009
Current and former members of SHADOWS FALL, FATES WARNING, ALL THAT REMAINS and DARK DAY SUNDAY have joined forces in a new project called KOBRA KAI. The mission is simple: '80s metal covers done the way the way a metal show truly was back then — a party! The group says, "The way we see it, our time would usually consist of heading out to a bar, checking out a band and having many, many, many drinks… So why not get on stage and have a good time as well?! And you are not going to see the typical '80s cover-band bullshit. Just kick-ass, drunken '80s metal madness!"

Upcoming KOBRA KAI shows:

Jul. 10 - Springfield, MA - The Rock Cafe
Jul. 11 - Worcester, MA - The Lucky Dog
Jul. 17 - Northampton, MA - The Elevens
Jul. 24 - Hartford, CT - The Webster Underground
Jul. 25 - Northampton, MA - City Sports/Northampton Bowl
Jul. 31 - Naugatuck, CT - Cooks Cafe
Aug. 15 - Southbridge, MA - Mill St Brew
Aug. 22 - Montague, MA - Millers Falls Rod And Gun Club
Sep. 05 - Easthampton, MA - The Brass Cat

KOBRA KAI is:

Mark Lopes (DARK DAY SUNDAY, HELLSPEAK) - Vocals
Jon Donais (SHADOWS FALL) - Guitar
Frank Aresti (FATES WARNING, DARK DAY SUNDAY) - Guitar
Matt Bachand (SHADOWS FALL) - Bass
Mike Bartlett (ex-ALL THAT REMAINS) - Drums

The irony is that those guys collectively are probably more talented than any of the bands they're covering. There's something surreal about seeing a dude in a Deicide shirt cranking out a Warrant tune.
