Official
Metallica.com footage from
METALLICA's July 7, 2009 concert in Nimes, France — including clips of pre-show meet-and-greets, tuning-room jams, soundcheck, photo shoots and the actual performances — can be viewed below.
METALLICA filmed its Nimes concert for an upcoming DVD release, but the catch is that the disc will be available only in France and through
METALLICA's official website,
Metallica.com. Since it's a French product, you'll also need an all-region DVD player in order to watch it in North America. The DVD will arrive on October 19.
METALLICA also documented its three recent shows in Mexico City for DVD, although that looks like it will be released in Latin America only.
The French concert will be available to view for free at
WorMee.com from July 10 through July 13 to anyone in the world who registers at the site.
According to the
MetOnTour.com web site, which is described as "your FREE virtual backstage pass to every

Lars Ulrich told
The Pulse of Radio recently what has made the band's latest stage production different from previous tours. "One thing that we don't have out there that a lot of people actually don't really think about that we don't have — we don't have video screens," he said. "And because we don't have video screens, guess what happens when you don't have video screens? People look at you, and so they feel, like, a lot closer. Not having video screens, this is the first time in 20 years we don't have video screens, it's really cool because people actually like, they're involved in what's going on onstage instead of standing there, you know, salivating over themselves looking up at the video screens, you know."
METALLICA will be touring Europe through early August. The band starts a North American trek on September 14 in Nashville as it continues supporting 2008's
"Death Magnetic" album.
