ANTHRAX guitarist
Scott Ian starts Day 3 in the Main Event at the
World Series of Poker today (Friday, July 10). Out of 6,494 who entered the no-limit hold'em world championship of poker series,
Ian is one of only 1,486 still in the game and in contention to walk away with the first prize of more than $8.5 million.
ANTHRAX headlined the kick off of the
Rocklahoma festival last night, so
Ian flies to Las Vegas this morning, landing about 9:30 a.m. local time, will cab it to the hotel, grab a shower, and head to the Rio Hotel to resume playing.
This is
Ian's first time playing in the
WSOP Main Event, having played his first game on Monday after flying in from Europe where
ANTHRAX has been on tour for the past several weeks.
Ian, a poker professional and member of the
UltimateBet online team, has played home poker games with buddies like
Keanu Reeves,
METALLICA's
Kirk Hammett,
Slash,
ALICE IN CHAINS'
Jerry Cantrell and
Vinnie Paul of
PANTERA. He hosted his first
"Scott Ian's Home Game" online poker tournament last March, and will do the honors again this August.
