MEGADETH Launches 'Megaman Radio' - July 10, 2009
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

"I am excited to tell you that we are starting a new thing here at Megadeth.com . . . it's Megaman radio! Er, well, not exactly Megaman radio, more like Megaman has his own radio show and you can soon listen to it!!

"My first goal is to get 100,000 listeners a week, and I am going to do stuff that the other guys won't, and that is go into a studio and take your live calls on air and they will be repeated whenever the program repeats itself. I am also going to find rare stuff to play for you, and old interviews of mine as well. I even think I am going to be able to get Shawn Drover [MEGADETH drummer] to come on once in a while and give me the full-on thrash report. However, what I really want to do besides take you on a fantastic musical journey, is I want to talk to you, so much that we have to tape a new show each week. Got it? Good! We can do stuff like ask guitar questions, talk about music I like, what makes my excited about recording or touring, and anything or everything that comes to your minds. And I am sure play tracks off of 'Endgame', our new metal offering.

"The beauty is that I love to talk to you, and I think people will greatly enjoy hearing from us on my new radio show. Remember, this is not talk radio, so there is going to be music, and more music, until you have heard every song that I dig, that made me the player I am, or maybe the music I listen in the bedroom; who knows! But we are going to be doing it."

MEGADETH's brand new track entitled "Headcrusher" can be streamed below. The song comes off MEGADETH's twelfth studio album, "Endgame", which is due on September 15 through Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

"Endgame" track listing:

01. Dialectic Chaos
02. This Day We Fight!
03. 44 Minutes
04. 1,320'
05. Bite The Hand That Feeds
06. Bodies Left Behind
07. Endgame
08. The Hardest Part Of Letting Go... Sealed With A Kiss
09. Headcrusher
10. How the Story Ends
11. Nothing Left To Lose

"Endgame" was helmed by Mustaine and acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD). Sneap also manned the boards for 2007's "United Abominations".

According to a press release, "Endgame" "boasts the technicality, ferocity and snarl that's synonymous with MEGADETH and Mustaine. It's a violent masterwork that represents Mustaine's best work in nearly two decades. In a musical world dominated by bands that make generic, blanket statements, 'Endgame' finds Mustaine, once again, making informed and substantial lyrical declarations about the state of the world we live in."

Commented Mustaine: "Thematically, I've never been known to be a silent bystander in a world that needs our participation. As more is revealed about our former President's legacy, a little-known yet staggeringly frightening document which was signed into law, named 'Endgame', has been uncovered. The album 'Endgame' is the most energetic music offering I have penned in over a decade and is far more believable than knowing someone signed 'Endgame' — the document — into law. The album is also the perfect 'ass-kicking' music to listen to once you are done reading the aforementioned document!"

He added, "This new album is my proudest moment since the famous (or infamous) 'Rust in Peace' album. With this album, I am also very excited to be introducing my new lead guitarist, Chris Broderick, to the world. I have always felt lucky to have had top shredders in that position, but after touring with Chris in support of my last album, I couldn't wait to get into the studio and see what he could do."

Whatever, I think this is really cool. Dave has always been one to embrace new ideas... they were one of the first bands with a website you know.

Respect. Good points and I am aware of these things. I am just referring to his rambling self loathe/self love constantly. Very curious to hear the new tunes too. Not expecting anything world changing though.

Just read a thread on the Megadeth forums about this.. man, some of the comments are just hilarious.. talk about kissing Mustaine's arse!!

One she wolf over there, said she wanted to listen to Mustaine talk about his bollocks!! Might be a hell of a lot more interesting than listening to him bang on about Headcrusher and how utterly awesome he is..This is one radio show I wont be tuning into..

NEW MEGADETH sounds exactly like Annihilator. Same guitar sound and similar riffs and solos.

COMMENT | too bad. this song is crap.

hope its not a sign of things to come. wuts wrong with mustaine's speaking voice when he's on stage addressing the crowd or speaking dialect within the body of a song? i'm getting tired of it. its so contrived and played to the point now where its uterly annoying. i wish he'd have used that voice when he was on rock 'n roll jeoupardy. Trebek: This band is the best band in the world..... BUZZZZZ. Mustaine: "Who is Metallica". Now that would be fackin funny. Someone needs to falsh this cartoon !

This is kind of a cool idea. Dave is self-important, sure, but at least he makes attempts to connect with his fans. Much more than a lot of other bands do, both with less and more popularity than Megadeth.

Is a bit of a throwback...but the production, I don't know. The guitars don't crunch, they sound too sterile. They're crisp, and yet the drums seem a bit hight in the mix. Still, it's a positive sign.

Actually, this Headcrusher song does sound like a few riffs from the Schizo Deluxe cd from Annihilator.

I do remember on here Dave Ellefson saying he and the Megadeth band listened to Annihilator in the car on the way to sessions for the Rust In Peace record. That explains why some of Marty's leads had a "waters" style sound to them and why Drovers guitar solos had a Waters flavor to them.

I don't mind the song. Some pretty good riffs. I really haven't liked anything from Megadeth since Cryptic Writings, but I may have to get this. The last couple Megadeth records were a "listen once and store away" type of thing. Nothing spectacular at all. This sounds promising though!!

Of course Dave Mustaine would have his own radio show! Because he loves the sound of his own voice. As Kerry King once said "if you let Mustaine talk long enough, he'll bury himself". I can't wait.

there is no way your gonna get 100,000 listeners just for a megadeth radio. Novel Idea at first but it wont last. its like the Metallica shit they played on XM/sirus radio for a month. It was a TERRIBLE idea

LOL, what the hell kind of name is "Megaman radio"? Let's try to be original Dave.

And as for the new song, if the rest of the album is as boring as that song, I can't see it doing too well. Then again, I am really sick of Dave's voice now-adays, so that might have something to do with it.

Alice has a (very slightly) better thing going than the typical classic rock radio as once in awhile you'll hear something obscure, maybe Dave can do better. What sucks is that when a song is played that you have no idea who or what is, the DJ doesn't identify it. Otherwise a song that everybody knows will be identified before and after.
'That was 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath. Now we're gonna play 'Smoke on the water' by deep Purple and then 90 mins. of commercial free music (Fortnox 'Storm inside my head', The Hunt 'Show the World', Budgie 'I can't see my feelings', Wuthering Heights 'Hunter in the dark', Buffalo 'Cold as night', Meanstreak 'Lost Stranger', Silver Mountain 'Rider of the night', H-Bomb 'Fou Sanguinaire', Legion 'Rats in the wall', Bow wow '20th century child', No Quarter 'Power and the key', Anvil Chorus 'Guitarmony', Scepter '144,000', Failsafe 'Just passin' thru'

Good idea;XM Radio stations suck-they keep playing the same setlists over&over(I listen to 'radio' a lot,TV as a general rule REALLY Sucks nowadays)Also tend to be more aural/tactile than visual-hope Dave has the audacity of a'Wolfman Jack' to carry it off without his self-pitying ego screwing up his"delivery".......
