MIDNIGHT's 'Funeral' Song Posted Online - July 10, 2009

Late CRIMSON GLORY singer Midnight's (real name: John Patrick McDonald Jr.) haunting, passionate version of the SARAH MCLACHLAN song "Angel" has been posted at his MySpace page. The piano on the track was played by RHAPSODY OF FIRE keyboardist Alex Staropoli.

"Angel" is one of numerous recordings made in the last year during Midnight's very productive affiliation with JON OLIVA'S PAIN guitarist Matt LaPorte and MONSTROSITY drummer Lee Harrison. Midnight reportedly referred to it as "the song I want played at my funeral."

LaPorte and Harrison will be deciding, along with Midnight's family, what to do with this "simply undescribable" collection of Midnight recordings.

A memorial service for Midnight will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Siesta Key public beach (just south of main pavillion) in Florida. This celebration of Midnight's life will be open to all who wish to attend.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia A. Gentry of Sarasota; his brothers, Andrew and Matthew McDonald of Sarasota; his sister, Terry April of Sarasota; his daughters, Ariel and Heaven of Dallas; and his grandson, Benjamin.

	What an amazing version of that song, sadly prophetic, you will be missed by all of your fans. You along with the rest of Crimson Glory created one of the greatest progressive metal materpieces in Transcendence.. right up there with Dream Theater Images & Words and Queensryche Rage for Order IMO

	can't say i was all familiar with CG, heard some songs here and there. this "cover" is as eerie as the original version. RIP John.

	For those of you whom have decided to disgace Midnights' memory by posting negative rants (and i use that term sparringly because usually intelligent folk "rant") remember this - that guy and crimson glory as a whole did more for the metal community than YOU. They released albums that are recognized worldwide as classics like it or not. What have you done? =oP

	There is no Sarah McLachlan song called "Arms Of An Angel." It's just called "Angel." See Surfacing (it's original release), Mirrorball, Afterglow Live, Remixed, etc.

	would have been perfect. my favorite ballad of all time I always hoped the reunion would happen well midnight hopefully found some peace sad the world missed out on how amazing of a singer he was
