Late
CRIMSON GLORY singer
Midnight's (real name:
John Patrick McDonald Jr.) haunting, passionate version of the
SARAH MCLACHLAN song
"Angel" has been posted at his
MySpace page. The piano on the track was played by
RHAPSODY OF FIRE keyboardist
Alex Staropoli.
"Angel" is one of numerous recordings made in the last year during
Midnight's very productive affiliation with
JON OLIVA'S PAIN guitarist
Matt LaPorte and
MONSTROSITY drummer
Lee Harrison.
Midnight reportedly referred to it as "the song I want played at my funeral."
LaPorte and
Harrison will be deciding, along with
Midnight's family, what to do with this "simply undescribable" collection of
Midnight recordings.
A memorial service for
Midnight will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Siesta Key public beach (just south of main pavillion) in Florida. This celebration of
Midnight's life will be open to all who wish to attend.
He is survived by his mother,
Patricia A. Gentry of Sarasota; his brothers,
Andrew and
Matthew McDonald of Sarasota; his sister,
Terry April of Sarasota; his daughters,
Ariel and
Heaven of Dallas; and his grandson,
Benjamin.
