According to Sun-Sentinel.com, AEROSMITH's July 13, 2009 concert with ZZ TOP at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida has been canceled. Citing an "artist injury," promoter Live Nation made the announcement Friday evening, saying that a new date will be announced soon.
As previously reported, AEROSMITH's July 11, 2009 show in Tampa, Florida has also been called off as singer Steven Tyler continues to recover from what seems to be a pulled leg muscle.
Tyler had surgery on both feet last year, telling The Pulse of Radio that 30-plus years of performing live had caught up with him. "The way I dance around onstage, it's taken its toll," he said. "They've got to take the nerves out and, you know, it hurts like hell. You know, I've just about destroyed my feet. But I never feel it when I'm onstage, I'll tell you that much."
The group's last show was on June 29 in Connecticut, where fans reported seeing Tyler strain something in his leg. The band has scrapped five shows since then, promising to reschedule them.

Tickets are what? $200 for fucking lawn seats? In this ecconomy? With ZZ fucking Top?
I'm sorry, but this is NOT a co-headlining tour, this is ZZ Top opening for Aerosmith. If this was 1984, this would be a co-headlining tour (hell, Aerosmith would probably open for ZZ Top!) but in 2009, ZZ Top plays theaters, not amphitheaters and arenas. They aren't KISS, they aren't Motley Crue, they aren't even Cheap Trick - they're simply an opening act at this point.
But an opening act that's going to play a long set so Aerosmith is only going to do 75 minutes - not a lot of bang for your bucks!
Add to this Brad Whitford is not at most shows! Anyone that knows anything about Aerosmith knows how important Brad is.
Add to that they've been very cagey with the set - 'We're playing "Toys in the Attic" all the way through...well, except for this song...or maybe we'll play "Rocks"...or maybe "Night in the Ruts"...' Gee, sounds like you might get stuck with "Just Push Play" at this rate!
Add to that they tour EVERY FUCKING SUMMER! Whether they need to or not, they come around more than once EVERY YEAR! I'd say anyone that wants to see them has - more than once!
So I'm thinking the tickets aren't selling, so these grizzled old bastards have decided it ain't worth rubbing on the Ben Gay and spraying in the blue-black hair dye for a crowd the size of what Poison or Meat Loaf can draw!
On the other hand, it seems like Tyler has fallen off the wagon hard. Why is it that all of the sudden Joe 'mumbles' Perry has become the spokesperson for EVERYTHING and Tyler is only seen on stage (when they DO play). Something fishy going on here.
Guys, get yourselves healthy, get yourselves straight, stop embarrassing yourselves and only come back if it feels right, There's nothing left for you to do or prove.

Damn, and I was hoping to see them, they better be ready
The last two times ZZ-Top came to my area, they played the local corporate shed/amphitheater. Hardly a theater. Not even close. They drew a good crowd as well. A bit slower these days, but ZZ-top still puts on a good show.
The lawn seats were $25 or $30 for the show that was canceled this past Sunday in my area. The "gold circle" tickets are what cost around $200, which is too much no matter who the hell's playing.
For the record, this will be the third time Aerosmith has rescheduled a show in the last four tours in Virginia Beach. some claim four in a row, but I can only remember three with this current tour. A hurricane, 9-11, and the current injury. I guess the first two weren't really their fault, but damn.

Someone mentioned that there have been more than one stint in rehab for Tyler since his most recent divorce. The last one I read about was when they check both him and his girlfriend into Dr. Drew's place, no less.
Just look at the pictures of Tyler and Erin Brady with Joe & Billie Perry from the American Music Awards. http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0fByeul5oj1sR/520x.jpg That's just one. There are others and the body language says it all. Apparently, the rumors that she (the girlfriend) wants the party-it-up rock star lifestyle that was in Aerosmith's past have some validity. Really, Dude (looks like a lady and makes Scott Weiland look stable) needs to get his act together in a big way. People don't go to shows to watch a 60 y/o man do acrobatics as if he were 25 again. They go to hear the songs.
And, yes, there were reports of limping his way off the stage after doing a horrid rendition of "You See Me Crying" at the last show he actually played but I don't know if they're true or not. That's not really much of a "jumping" song, now is it?

COMMENT | Tyler has "destroyed his legs" from DANCING ON STAGE????? posted by : Angry Johnny 7/11/2009 8:54:58 AM
What a bunch of absolute BULLSHIT.
Steven Tyler is one of my favorite rock singers. He's been great for 30 years or something by now but come the fuck on.
Steven might "dance" occasionally WHEN HE IS ACTUALLY ON STAGE . . . . which in it's entirety, would be less than three hours a day, for, let's be safe to say, 100 nights in a given YEAR.
Everybody that I've EVER known works their asses off, mostly on their feet, for 40 or 50 hours A FUCKING WEEK.
You know what?? They get tired. Sore. They EXPERIENCE FUCKING PAIN SOMETIMES. It's called LIFE.
These fucking rock stars are a bunch of crybabies. I mean, I love Steven as much as anybody but come the fuck on.

aerosmith fucking blow ass..im glad they cancelled. just retire
I'll jump on the bandwagon about the short sets. I went to motley crue/aerosmith a year or two ago? I thought the crue was opening, but they both got 75 minutes sets. Alot of people felt ripped off because a headling band should play longer than that.. especially bands with hugely popular back catalogs. Alot of people were dissapointed when they left, paying that much to see aerosmith and only get to see them play for so short.
Maybe he should stop the acrobatics, focus on the music,. I'm sure most people would rather see a 2 hour set then him run around the stage. Needs to be more stationary like ozzy i suppose.. lol

Something's VERY fishy here... he can't be THAT much of a wimp! This has to be bigger than a "pulled leg muscle".
They couldn't make up a better excuse?

seriously, they should just cancel the rest of their career. How many people are going to keep buying tickets with this kind of uncertainty about their health? They're clearly done.

THROAT muscle. It's no secret that Tyler has a poor vocal technique that makes any voice instructor cringe. He's been singing on borrowed time as it is - I am sure he has polyps galore pitching tents and residing on his vocal chords permanently. Either that or he has blown a vessel on the chord itself.... which can only heal by keeping that big trap shut for a month or two
