UNIVERSUM Preparing To Enter Studio - July 11, 2009
Australian melodic death metallers UNIVERSUM will enter the studio in the coming months to commence recording the follow-up to their debut album, "Leto Destinatus". Due for release in early 2010, the CD — tentatively titled "Mortuus Machina" — will feature guest appearances from vocalist Christian Älvestam (ex-SCAR SYMMETRY, MISERATION) as well as guest guitar solos from NIGHTRAGE axemen Marios Iliopoulos and Olof Mörck. Jens Bogren of Sweden's Fascination Street Studios (OPETH, SOILWORK, AMON AMARTH, KATATONIA) will once again handle both mixing and mastering duties.

UNIVERSUM lead guitarist Michael Soininen comments: "We are all excited by how the new album is developing so far and believe that the songs have a newfound depth, both musically and lyrically. The combination of the new material, the great guest musicians Christian, Marios and Olof, along with Jens' mixing and mastering should result in a great album."

In the 12 months since the release of "Leto Destinatus", UNIVERSUM made a major impact both in Australia and internationally and has received widespread acclaim from the media and its ever-growing legion of fans. The success of the debut album, together with live performances alongside international big guns DRAGONFORCE (Australian national tour) and CRADLE OF FILTH, a string of endorsements and a very well received video clip has seen UNIVERSUM quickly become regarded as one of Australia's premier melodic death metal acts.

As a proud australian, this pop metal garbage gets up my goat. i see so many bands here in Sydney touring the country, i have never EVER seen this band play their own shows in Sydney ( AUSTALIAS CAPITOL!!?? ) what the fuck are you scared of guys? My guess is Switchblade. SWITCHBLADE. UNIVERSUM has bought its way to the top, hasnt done the hard yards with the local scene and do not support their peers. Check out new Switchblade which owns this pop metal garbage.

Sydney? Australia's captial? WRONG! I believe you mean Canberra is Australia's captial.

Secondly. Universum have been doing their own shows for years! They just finished a headlining tour of australia. And even if they hadn't been headlining, that doesn't mean that they haven't been 'putting in the hard yards'. I play in a band and have been gigging consistently for ages are you telling me that because we aren't headlining every show that what we are doing is any less valuable to Australia's music scene that the headliner of any given night?

You need to do some thinkin son.

Hey whoever,

First up, interesting comment because "not more of this shit" is exactly what i thought when i read your narrow minded, childish dribble. You see, the fact is, that's your opinion so who cares about it. I bet bands that get this type of treatment don't.

Second, if superstars like these guests are agreeing to do these appearances, it's obviously a massive compliment to the band themselves as they like their gear and have taken the time out of their busy schedule to contribute and put their name against it. Who said they were paid? Do you know this? The fact is, there is no money to be made in this type of music anyway so the band may as well do whatever it is they want with their albums. The point is, if you don't like it, don't listen to it.

The fact that these other bands tour so often - maybe they need to because they don't know how else to intelligently market their band.

It's mornonic people like yourself, putting other people down for achieving that is the virus of this genre. You are obviously upset, an unable to control your emotions, because you are A) a fan of Switchblade or B) in the Switchblade camp. BTW, Switchblade just had a high pofile guest on their album? Go figure. Funny that they are copying Universum from their first album.

Man it's frustrating that I won't get these 2mins of my life back. Please go away and back to hating your parents.

What's your mailing address? I'll send you a box of tissues.
