HYPOCRISY: New Album Title, Artwork Revealed - July 14, 2009
HYPOCRISY, the Swedish extreme metal band led by guitarist/vocalist Peter Tägtgren (also of PAIN), has set "A Taste Of Extreme Divinity" as the title of its new album, due on October 23 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records. Peter states, "I'm at the end of the recording and mixing; a few songs left to sing on. The rest are done mixing-wise. It's just been too busy with touring and recording bands, and I didn't wanna burn myself out totally." He adds, "We're happy [with] the result so far; it got everything a HYPO album should have in our own point of view."

Check out the CD cover artwork below.

HYPOCRISY will kick off a U.S. tour in support of "A Taste Of Extreme Divinity" on November 5, with ENSIFERUM as the headliner. A European headlining trek will follow in January 2010.

HYPOCRISY reissued its 2002 album "Catch 22" under the title "Catch 22 V2.0.08" in May 2008. Peter Tägtgren re-recorded the guitar parts, his vocals and remixed and remastered the LP for the new version of the album, which featured bonus material.

The band previously stated about its decision to re-release the CD, "We still think it is a great fucking album but it got slammed and misunderstood because of the vocal style and the drum sound and so on."

HYPOCRISY's latest album, "Virus", came out in September 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records.

HYPOCRISY's video for the song "Scrutinized" (taken from "Virus") can be viewed below.

Nice old school looking artwork not the usual Hypocrisy type cover but cool none the less. Now tell me how Ensiferum who has been around probably about 1/4 of the time Hypocrisy has is headlining over them? Seems lame to me.

"Now tell me how Ensiferum who has been around probably about 1/4 of the time Hypocrisy has is headlining over them? Seems lame to me."

Hypocrisy have been around 19 years, Ensiferum 14. So three quarters, actually.

It's because a band's positioning in shows is determined by their popularity, not how long they've been around.

Im pumped for this new recored and touring from Hypocrisy. Yeah, I would rather they headline in N.A., but I doubt they care as long as they tour at all right? Also, I've seen way more unfair billings than this one.

It kills me how everyone gets hung up on an album cover. Who gives a shit? Seriously. How does a cover affect the music? It doesn't. You don't like it, you don't like it (hell, I don't really care for that cover) but that's certainly not going to stop me from buying this.

And as far as popularity affects a tour's lineup - mostly true. It has little to do with how long a band's been around (although that does come into play at times). Afterall, if that were the case then Slayer would be headlining the current Mayhem festival and not Marilyn Manson.

It's about business and marketing. If a more well-known band plays early then people are likely to show up and stay for a concert. If they play late then people show up late and don't spend as much money. I've seen several tours and festivals get planned and have friends in the business - it's how it works.

i guess some people on here are too addicted to that computer generated shit that Century Media and Nuclear Blast have been pumping out as of late......Hey Kiddies...THIS is what REAL albums art used to look like! Anyone can cut and paste some crap on a computer...it takes a real artist to actually draw or paint something that looks good. This is classic swedish death metal art right here.

shit, hope this doesn't mean they're getting rid of the catchy stuff and going for a cannibal corpse sound...

and WHY the fuck is ensiferum headlining over fucking hypocrisy???

Some of us actually buy the CDs and like to have a kick-ass package, so yes, the cover art does matter.

I think this cover art is pretty sweet - it does look a little bit "Ensiferum-ish"

Damn I appologize on that I have been a metal fan for well over 20 years and never had heard of them until the late like 2001 or so I did not realize they had been around so long. Odd I never heard of them back in the day. Oh well I stand corrected.

Ensiferum's first album wasn't released until 2001 that is why I had no knowledge. By that time Hypocrisy had released 7 albums and 3 EPs so while I say I'm sorry I still stand by my statement that Ensiferum has only technically been around professionally 1/4 of the time Hypocrisy has and has only since gotten popular. Regardless Hypocrisy should headline period.

Ensiferum is "hotter" right now thanks to Paganfest and doing direct support for Amon Amarth and Summer Slaughter. They will draw more people on their name than Hypocrisy.

First comes the music and, if the cover slays, which is the case in my opinion, so much the better.

This is what I´ve been waiting for such a loooong time, October 23rd is never too near, first day buyer for sure, this band KILLS!!!!!!!! I hope to see them live, they are one of the very few bands left for me.

Well, I´m not quite sure Horgh (I love the way he plays) will be on the drums now that Immortal are back, so let´s hope Peter gathers a killer lineup for the tour, taking for granted that Mikael Hedlund will be on the bass as always.
