SLIPKNOT's CHRIS FEHN Forced To Miss Last Two Shows Of Band's European Tour - July 14, 2009
SLIPKNOT percussionist Chris Fehn was forced to miss the last two shows of the band's most recent European tour — July 10 in Madrid, Spain and July 11 in Barcelona, Spain — due to a "tragic death in his family."

Fan-filmed video footage of SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor addressing Fehn's absence during the Madrid concert can be viewed below.

SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "The Clown" Crahan missed a couple of the band's shows in May after taking several days off following the death of his mother.

According to The Pulse of Radio, SLIPKNOT is slated to reissue its 1999 self-titled major label debut on September 9 to celebrate the record's 10th anniversary and the band's decade as recording artists. SLIPKNOT has been commemorating the upcoming anniversary for much of the past year since issuing its latest record last August, "All Hope Is Gone". Singer Corey Taylor told The Pulse of Radio that things couldn't be going better for the group at this point. "Everything that we've always wanted, and that we've always pictured for this band is kind of coming true in this last year and a half," he said. "You know, this is kind of the culmination of 10 years of just barreling through the mud, you know, sweating through the dark times, and this is really the payoff. And the great thing is, is that we're old enough to appreciate it."

No other details on the release, including whether it will include any bonus or previously unavailable content, have been announced yet.

The latest single from "All Hope Is Gone" is called "Sulfur". The album has sold 798,000 copies since coming out 11 months ago.

The band will begin a short North American run of dates on August 22 in Seattle.

And this makes a difference... how?

Don't they have at least another 2-3 percussionists in their 25-man orchestra?

Sorry about the dude's loss in the family but why make a big deal out of him leaving...he's a stage prop..he bangs on shit and is not a REAL musician..i probably have more talent than that dude..

It's just I can't stand this band because the masks and costumes are getting old..you dont need 20 people in the band that bangs on shit...and your music sucks

It's bizarre how disrespectful metal snobs are to Slipknot... they have done so much for the genre and you can't seriously believe that they are talentless. Yes you may not like their music but it doesn't make it bad music.... some people are just idiots. Chris Fehn does a lot more than "just bang on things".... you people need to realize that the percussion is quite a skilled thing... it's like playing rhythm guitar or something... it just adds more depth. He also does backing vocals and does a lot of work with the crowd.... Slipknot aren't your standard metal band and god forbid anybody should try something different.

If you restraint yourself from a band just because of their looks, you're shallow.

Exactly what have they done for the genre?

Oh wait that's right they opened the doorway for a bunch of teenage emo's to say and believe that they are metalheads...

solarfall... along with other bands including Lamb of God, Metallica, Killswitch Engage and bands liek that they revived metal. In the 90s metal was almost dead but along with other bands metal was brought back to life and they showed how strong it is. They have literally helped other metal bands get a foot in the door, without them (and other bands like them) metal not be nearly as popular as it is and other less known bands wouldn't even get any recognition and be able to survive as full-time musicians.

martallica.... maybe you don't put as much emphasis on it as they do. But it's important to them and their music, it's something which makes them unique and they do it well. It's better than being your bog standard metal band which all do the same thing.

Rezter, it looks like you pay too much attention to what the media and other people tell you about metal. In the 90s, metal was not dying or almost dead. It was going just like it is today, only it wasn't as apparent to as many people. It happens in cycles - metal gains in popularity for several years, then it recedes back for a while, and when that happens, everyone who isn't actually into metal says that it's dying. Then a few years later, poof, it's popular again and everyone says it's back.
Also, what those "percussionists" in Slipknot do is nothing comparable to "rhythm guitar or something" like you said. I've seen many live clips, and all they do in every one of them is sit on top of their spinning platforms and bang on a drum, or a barrel, or a keg to the beat of some of the songs. That is not hard, and it doesn't require talent. I'm not saying they don't have any, but in Slipknot, they don't display any.

I do come here in rescue of Rezter... I'm not 100% ok with everthing he said... but it all comes down to...
If you don't like the band for whatever reason... mask, coverall, 9 members or you might be jealous since they've done pretty good... please respect who ever likes them...
I have to say that I've been following Slipknot since their debut... saw them 7 times live.. once without Jim Root... which you saw that there was one guy missing...

I agree that if Clown is off one show, the crowd wont see a significant difference but I have to add that this guy has a key role on the "behind the scene" for the band... it's not because he's hitting on percussion and a keg that the guy is not a musician... have you seen him on a drum set?... obviously no...

My only point here is, if you're not a fan, well move on to an article that talks about bands you like... and don't waste your time reading shit that you'll just complain about no matter what's the article about...

metal wasnt dead in the 90's... ever heard of Death, Morbid Angel, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Immolation, Gorguts, Immortal, Emperor, Entombed, Etc. Etc. Etc??? shit the entire death metal and black metal scene blew up in the 90's.

lamb of god and killswitch revived pop metal.

All of this 'metal never went away in the 90s, it just quietly beavered away, so I don't care what Slipknot did' stuff is self-delusional crap.

Yes there were metal albums released and shows played, but unless you only want your bands to be underground legends, raising the profile of metal is a positive thing. It enables, for example, you to find your CDs in the shop, or actually see a tour advertised in a magazine rather than just happen upon a flier.

More people into metal = playing in a metal band to be more viable and sustainable as a career option = more metal for you to listen to/watch live.

And Slipknot are fucking awesome by the way. I had a period where I walked away because the image became embarassing, but now I'm a grown-ass man I don't give a flying frack what anyone thinks and actually treasure the image they have as part of what makes Slipknot Slipknot.

did those people hurt your feelings calling your heros naughty names? fucking grow up

i agree with poopslop on this..metal DID NOT die in the 90's, so there was no resurgence in saving metal..it was all media hype, media bullshit. no band out there 'saved' metal..there are bands that have slight diversity in their own sound, doesnt mean they fucking saved the worl of metal. jeeeez!

as for the idiot who said Lamb of god is pop metal, dont be such a goat cock sucker. buy 'Wrath'..best album of 2009
