EVILE: New Song Posted Online - July 14, 2009
British thrashers EVILE have posted a brand new track, "Infected Nation", on their MySpace page. The song comes off the band's sophomore album, "Infected Nations", due on September 21 in Europe and September 22 in the U.S. via Earache Records. A DRM-free copy of the track is available for download at this location.

Commented EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake: "Finally, we can show you a track off the upcoming album, 'Infected Nations', funnily enough the first track being 'Infected Nation'. It's been very hard to pick out just ONE track to initially show the world, as there is such diversity on this album and I wanted to showcase the different direction we're going in. I think 'Infected Nation' is a good place to start in showing you, as it still has the pure thrash feel to it but with an injection of our new path musically."

The cover art for "Infected Nations" was created by Michael Whelan, famous for his sci-fi artworks along with classic album covers from such bands as SEPULTURA and OBITUARY.

"Infected Nations" track listing:

01. Infected Nation
02. Now Demolition
03. Nosophoros
04. Genocide
05. Plague To End All Plagues
06. Devoid Of Thought
07. Time No More
08. Metamorphosis
09. Hundred Wrathful Deities

EVILE frontman Matt Drake previously stated about the new CD: "When we did [2007's] 'Enter the Grave' two years ago, it was made up of songs we had been playing for a few years and some written in the excitement of actually getting to record an album. We were happy to just be making noise, but since then, we've learnt a few things and we're more interested in making music.

"EVILE fans can expect to hear a more mature offering, an album that concentrates on all aspects of what each member can do; it's a heck of a lot more focused, more satisfying and we're really proud of what we've achieved with it. Russ Russell has helped us to push ourselves to the next level and pull us out of the '80s. The whole retro thing has been cool but we feel it's time for us to leave that behind and stand up for ourselves and show people what we can really do, but fear not, it IS a thrash metal album, it is a 2009 thrash metal album, and we're dying to blow your minds with it."

Pretty raw and heavy. You can really hear the Annihlator influence in the soloing and the vocals are cookin.

Sounds good to me. Again it illustrates well why I don't understand the continual comparisons to Metallica: Evile have much, much more in common with Slayer. They've got that same rough aggression, and Matt's vocals are very similar in their deep, gruff manner.

Which is no bad thing, even though personally I love Metallica more than Slayer. Evile master their craft well, and sounds like the new album will be top-notch. Matt's vox in particular have much more edge to them.

Meh, I'll have to hear the rest of the CD to judge, this song really doesn't do much for me.

i agree that it is a bit cloning of the 80's thrash era but less than their previous. I agree they should shed it because it is an obvious trend and they have more potential to develop their own style more. i hea the Annihilator in there too and that is only a good thing

I can really hear what you mean actually. Certainly with the early death influence. Of course, when you mention anything about death metal elements, people will automatically think of what it is today and dismiss it because it doesn't feature br00tal growling or super-fast blast beats.

But folks need to remember that death metal emerged out of thrash in the late 80s, and a lot of bands over-lapped the two (Sepultura, Morbid Saint, Demolition Hammer, Rigor Mortis, Possessed). It's very minor here, but I definitely do hear a bit of very early death in their sound, in a restrained and subtle way. And development is always good.

Said I'd give them a chance with this album so I'm not going to judge this on one song BUT.....

It's still sounding like the eighties guys!
