INFERNAL Parts Ways With Drummer, Seeks Replacement - July 14, 2009
INFERNAL, the project led by Swedish guitarist David Parland (NECROPHOBIC, DARK FUNERAL), has parted ways with drummer Tomas Asklund (ex-DARK FUNERAL, DISSECTION). According to Parland, "This was mutually agreed today, and there is not much more to say about it." He added, "We hereby seek a new drummer with very good drumming skills, who can blast very fast and play double bass drums for a long time. We seek someone that already has recording experience and has played in bands before. Preferably we seek someone who is Swedish or at least Scandinavian, but other people from Europe can apply as well."

Joining Parland in the new INFERNAL lineup is guitarist Martin Halfdan (ex-NECROPHOBIC). The revamped band is working on a new demo entitled "The Infernal Return" which should be completed soon.

Regarding the decision to use the INFERNAL name for the new project (INFERNAL's previous lineup split up in 2003), David previously said, "When we started up again, we initially wanted to call the band something totally different, but we never came up with anything good enough, and whenever we did, we found out that these names already were taken. . . The concept still remains 100% Satanic; we see no reason to not call ourselves something less good or half-assed, just because the sound mainly is no longer the hyper-blast stuff we used to do in our earlier bands. This new INFERNAL is still purely Satanic, but generally has a more accessible sound, more melodic, but still brutal, and with some blast parts as well. We generally want to people to think of this as new band, more or less a complete rebirth of a band that once was (and still is again). We don't want people to even compare it with the old stuff since it's in most ways not the same band."

The following demo samples are now available on the INFERNAL MySpace page:

* "The Darkside Calls" (Intro)
* "Godforsaken (With Hate I Burn)"
* "Of The Seven Gates"

David says, "[these three tracks] show pretty well what to expect from this new incarnation of this band. Dark and evil, fast and heavy, but at the same time melodic and atmospheric."

...The first Dark Funeral EP and Secrets of the Black Arts are total classics, as well as the Necrophobic material Blackmoon was around for and of course WAR!!! As long as Parland sticks with it this time, I'll be expecting the best. One thing I wish he was doing was just calling it "Blackmoon" instead of reusing an old band name for lack of any names out there...it's basically his solo project at this point, so why not call it what it is.
