SLIPKNOT Reveals First Details Of Debut Album Reissue - July 14, 2009
SLIPKNOT is slated to reissue its 1999 self-titled major label debut on September 9 to celebrate the record's 10th anniversary and the band's decade as recording artists.

A video message from the members of SLIPKNOT announcing the upcoming release can be viewed below.

Corey Taylor (vocals): "As you know, June 29, 2009 is a very special date for us. It marks the 10-year anniversary of the very first SLIPKNOT album. And in 10 years, it has been complete insanity. So to mark this occasion, we're offering the 10-year anniversary release."

Joey Jordison (drums): "This is 10 years of life, death, love, hate, pain, scars, victory, war, blood and destruction."

Corey: "This box set will include the first album, a bunch of deep cuts from the vault, a video showing you exactly what we had to go through in the first year and a half.

"So mark something on your calendar and go out and buy it.

"It meant a lot to us that you've been with us for this long. It's gonna mean a lot to us to check out where we've been.

"10 years is a long time for this band, and it's gonna be another 10 years. So enjoy it."

SLIPKNOT has been commemorating the upcoming anniversary for much of the past year since issuing its latest record last August, "All Hope Is Gone". Taylor told The Pulse of Radio that things couldn't be going better for the group at this point. "Everything that we've always wanted, and that we've always pictured for this band is kind of coming true in this last year and a half," he said. "You know, this is kind of the culmination of 10 years of just barreling through the mud, you know, sweating through the dark times, and this is really the payoff. And the great thing is, is that we're old enough to appreciate it."

The latest single from "All Hope Is Gone" is called "Sulfur". The album has sold 795,000 copies since coming out 11 months ago.

The band will begin a short North American run of dates on August 22 in Seattle.

Yeah, and in 10 years they only put four albums (half of which were mediocre at best)

Now I'm no Slipknot fan, but didn't they have an album before this one titled "Mate Feed Kill Repeat"? Talk about revisionist history.

Doesn't technically count as a first album since it wasn't officially released and was more of a self produced demo CD.

Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat WAS their first album. It had 8 songs at 50 minutes on it and none of them appeared on their selft titled album. That wouldn't even come close to being called an EP. Just because it wasn't on a major label or any label for that matter doesn't mean it's not an album. I hate it when bands totally denounce their unknown work. You can call it your major label debut but don't pretend like your old work doesn't exist. Remember kids: PANTERA had 4 albums before Cowboys from Hell. I don't even like Slipknot but that pisses me off.

I think it is pretty lame for bands to do this, especially 4 times, that is crazy! whatever this album is awesome, been listening to it for 10 years and it is still a great album.

I am not a huge Slipknot fan but to say they sound too much like stonesour is pretty ignorant. Their music is much heavier and much more intricate than SS. Just because he sings just a little bit more does not make them sound the same. He has a damn good voice all around so he should use it.

I've two versions of this bum, the original one with frail & purity & the digipack with get this etc.
I'm hoping this is worth the effort...videos, live cuts,, shit we've not heard...etc.
but i doubt it.

Now kinda off topic,
IOWA's a better album, cant understand ppl who disagree, but hey, an opinion's an opinion...
I like all their albums, I dont think new slipknot (minus that emo-esq song, dead memories) sounds like stone sour.... the new heavy sounding slipknot with the singing chorus's and heavy verses, is very generic but altho stone sour sing more so tha scream, i dont thik they've followed that heavy verse singing chorus route that trivum, machine head have....

Im not a Stone sour fan so i dont really know, but im pretty sure their song structure different from new slipknot, and that makes a hell of a difference

they suck, period. If you need to hide from the fans, your not doing it for the music. it seems like this band has always been about their image, not good music. they are so unoriginal, its pathetic. Everyone sounds like them, they sound like everyone. they could slip away and nobody would ever know.

Or care
