ZAKK WYLDE Says 'Everything Is Great With OZZY'

Zakk Wylde has posted a short update on his Twitter account regarding his meeting with Ozzy Osbourne on Monday (July 13), where he presumably discussed his status in Ozzy's solo band. Zakk wrote, "Hey Berserkers, everything is great with Ozzy/Dad. See you at the BlizzCon convention in Anaheim August 22nd or before with [BLACK LABEL SOCIETY]."
Ozzy told Classic Rock magazine in a new interview that he's on the lookout for a new guitar player, apparently to replace Wylde. Ozzy appeared two weeks ago as a guest at Slash's headlining concert in Norway, where rumors indicated that he was lining up ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 to take Wylde's spot. Ozzy didn't deny the rumors, saying, "Well, I'm getting a new guitar player as we speak, and everyone has been saying to me for a long time, 'Get Johnny 5!' And I tried him at one time and I didn't really give him a chance. We'll see, I don't know."
As for why he wanted to break away from Wylde, who has played with Ozzy on and off since 1988, Ozzy said, "I haven't fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk's got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like (Wylde's band) BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y'know?"
Ozzy also indicated that he was auditioning a guitarist from Greece, but declined to give further details.
The former BLACK SABBATH singer has been working on his latest solo album at his home studio in Los Angeles, He said that Wylde had recorded material for the project, but added, "I don't know if I want to use it."
As for Wylde, he seemed unaware that he might be out of a job, posting on his Twitter account, "This is news to me."
Wylde joined Ozzy in 1988 on his "No Rest For The Wicked" album, replacing Jake E. Lee. He has played on every solo Ozzy album since, although he was replaced in the touring band from 1995 to 2001 by Joe Holmes.

I love Zakk, worship him! But he has made a total ass of himself in the last 5 years! How about when he jumped off stage in Buenos Aires and could not get his guitar back? I'm sure Ozzy/Sharon loved that. Or when he sliced open his hand on stage?

for 21 years but, in my opinion, Ozzy hasn't put out a great album since 1981 (the Jake E. Lee stuff was decent). I say lose him, Zakk is a tool. What could it hurt? A new/other guitarist would create some interest and give him a fresh and different sound that he sorely needs.

Love Zak, used to love Ozz, but he needs to do something new or hang it up imho.

Sdmf1369 zakk threw his guitar into the crowd like he does on many occasions, but the dicks would give him it back, so he desided to go and get it back himself, when he got back to the stage his rebel guitar was in bits... And the cut on his hand was already there, but it just opened up while playing, just like slot of other guitar players if you have a cut on your hand and play guitar there is a 80% chance it's gonna open up and get worse seeing as a guitar string is thin enought to go right into the cut and make it worse,,, has happened to me before... I'm glad ozzys not getting rid of him, it would ruin his career even more, and replacing with john 5 I couldn't imagine ozzy blasko playing along to chicken picking country... Even tho john 5 is an amazing! Guitarist :) x

Glad to hear that all is well with Ozzy and Zakk.
Hopefully Ozzy is getting a new guitarist because I'm tired of Zakk wasting his time on Ozzy's crappy pop metal albums.
Even during their heyday together, I hardly liked more than a couple songs on each album.
Seriously, there hasn't been a completely awesome Ozzy album since Bob Daisley was writing and Randy Rhoades was playing. Including those lame Jake E Lee hair metal days.
So, hopefully, Ozzy will get a new guitarist and some song writers that are inspired to make a cool metal album and without spending his time waiting for Ozzy, Zakk can devote more time to B.L.S. which has been better than anything he's done with the Ozzman.
This should be a win/win for all involved.

I guess we will see whats going to happen. Ozzy said he already as a lot of material from Zakk but he doesn't know if he going to use it. I sure hope its heavy and doesn't sound like Black Rain. I liked the Cd but there wasn't a lot of riffs on the album. There was some but nothing real memorable. Civilize the Universe was cool and Trap Door, I also liked 11 silver. They need to really put their heads together and put some real effort into it. I would like for Ozz to get a new guitar player it would bring a fresh sound to his music and I like Zakk. I know Zakk wants Ozzy's music to sound great and be heavy with great riffs. He is passionate about it, I think its time he really shows it like he used to.

I don't believe that Ozzy would be lost without Zakk Wylde. I do agree that Ozzy's sound and songwriting has become boring, predictable, and does sound like BLS. There's nothing wrong with Ozzy considering a fresh approach to his guitarist position and songwriting. He needs to switch it up. I always loved the Randy Rhoads/Jake E. Lee era stuff more than I've ever enjoyed Zakk. I'm not knocking Zakk's abilities but after almost 21 years it's time for some fresh ideas and a new approach to playing. I do agree that John5 would be a poor choice. Ozzy needs less cartoonish side-men as possible. Just find a fantastic player and move on.

Zakk IS a stand up guy, he's a HARD-ON. He actually claims that he was cut from the same cloth as Patton. He is a good guitarist but the tough guy, biker wannabe shit is weak and transparent.
So what if Zakk has been loyal, Ozzy was a gravy train for him. Ozzy has been loyal right back for keeping him on all these years and letting BLS play at every Ozzfest. Ozzy isn't bashing him, he just wants to change it up. In my opinion he should have done it 10 years ago.

Ozzy DESPERATELY needs a new guitarist to breathe some life back into his act, but now there's no way anybody's going to come out of this situation without shit on their hands.

Breathe life into WHAT???
We're talking about a 60-year old man with multiple health issues and a brain that's fried from decades of substance abuse.
He can't sing live anymore, and the only way to even make his voice somewhat palatable in the studio is by Pro-Tooling the hell out of it.
I respect everything Ozzy's accomplished in his career, but it's time to hang it up and let his body of work speak for itself.

Ozzy didn't let bls play at ozzfest.... Sharon did, ozzfest has nothing to do with ozzy all it's has is the ozz in the name and him playing from time to time, the whole thing us run by Sharon...
And for ozzy being a gravy train for zakk, that's bullshit... Zakk has earnt his place, ozzy hand picked him when he was younger, he has released countless albums with black label and his solo group... And all of them have great songs on.

No More Tears--Bubble Gum Commercial Radio Rock mostly
Ozzmossis--Weak material and Zakk didn't write it
Down To Earth--decent material, heavy and dark, but Zakk didn't write it
Black Rain--over processed, boring Rob Zombie sounding CRAP, but nothing like BLS, shame on Zakk for having a hand in this piece of shit album
None of these albums sound like BLS, but really Zakk has only written and recorded one really good album with Ozzy--in 1988!

whatever. Sharon, Ozzy, same thing. What is the difference where the loyalty lies, they are pretty much the same entity? You say Sharon does all the controlling yet turn around and say Ozzy hand-picked Zakk. Did you read the post where is says that "Ozzy" is looking for a new guitarist and that "Ozzy" (not Sharon) thought they were sounding too much like BLS? Do you really think that BLS would be anything without Zakk being in Ozzy's band? Do you remember that the biggest BLS hit had Ozzy on guest vocals? Ozzy was totally a gravy train for Zakk because he would have gone broke doing BLS only. Why else would he have stayed after all his crying about Ozzy bringing in outside writers and Zakk pretty much just playing studio musician? I don't blame him for taking the paycheck but I also don't believe he would be playing more than small clubs without Ozzy.

I don't think Ozzy looks like an asshole at all in this situation. He didn't rip on Zakk, he just said he was looking at other guitarists. He said he thought they were sounding too much like BLS which makes sense since Zakk even said that he plays Ozzy riffs and whatever he rejects becomes a BLS song. There's nothing wrong with looking into a fresh new sound at this stage in his career, especially after those last dismal albums he did with Zakk. I don't think Zakk will take it personal or at least not show it. He won't want to burn that gravy train bridge. Ozzy wanted to work with other guitarists in recent years but couldn't find anyone he liked so he just stuck with Zakk.

do realize that whoever plays guitar for Ozzy is generally, and historically the one who writes the music. Randy Rhoads, Jake Lee, Zakk Wylde. I don't think Ozzy really has ever written "music" on his albums, with the exception of some Sabbath or lyrics on early albums. With that said, be prepared for yet another shitty Ozzy album. Gee, remember when Ozzy used to put out the best metal albums out there? Blizzard or Diary anyone? Too bad Ozzy probably won't dump Zakk. But he can do whatever he wants, it's his band, not Zakk's, and his career.

Zakk is the best thing to have ever happened to Ozzy and if he doesn't know it or appreciate it than too bad for him. Ozzy's muic had turned so commertial and predictable befre No Rest For The Wicked which really turned things around for him and actually kept him in the music scene and on top.
Now he is thinking about replacing Zakk???? What the.....
I think maybe he has killed of too much brain cells. Zakk cannot be replaced by anyone ever!!! He is an amazing musitian and anyone who thinks he can ever be replaced is completely brain dead and doesn't know what he's talking about. I mean just look at the stuff Ozzy has done with out Zakk.... completely boring...
So Zakk might have a few problems ( with drinking and what not) but thats no reaso to sack him. I mean he has stayed faithfull to Ozzy for over 20 years and has always stepped up to the plate and now for Ozzy to even consider replacing him..???...
And as far as Ozzy sounding like BLS... he wishes.
I have been a big fan of Ozzy for year but a much bigger fan of Zakk and his amazing talents. If he does infact replace Zakk.... I won't even bother with listening to anything Ozzy may make. Zakk is truly the best thing in metal/rock and has been for over 20 years and no matter what happens, I will remain his biggest fan and continue to support him.
So all those who balieve they are fans or have said a single thing against Zakk, You can just p@%s off. Your not real fans just puppets following a trend.!!!!!

I think i liked it better way back when ,the only time you could read or hear about what my fav bands were up to was to buy CIRCUS mag or pick up sunday edition of the LA Times to see what concerts were comming up . These bands were GODS in my eyes ,i just assumed they all loved each other and they'ed be together forever! lol. Now i read shit like EVH tried to bust the window out on the plane they chartered?? WTF ! OH THE HUMANITY! Oh well guess i dont care as long as they still put out some respectable music . lol

You know, I reaaly like the attitude and loyalty of fans like Robonez. This guy is true fan and knows the meaning of loyalty. While alot of "so called fans' are just talkin for the sake ot talking, a few of us have showed what the meaning of "FAN" really means. Even in the "so called FAN FORUMS & CHAT ROOMS" their are jerks talking out of their ass and insulting the real fans for being loyal.
There should be more REAL fans and follower like myself and Robonez.
I will always stick by my opinions and not just accomidate the trends.
Zakk Wylde is a legend and always will be. If Ozzy doesn't want him anymore.... too bad or him (not like his gonna do anything GREAT career wise anyway with a pop music producer and no ability to write his own music by himself. Besides at his age how much more can he do. I mean no disrespect to Ozzy, I am a fan and have been for years and love his muic but lets be honest if he doesn't have enough loyalty to a guy who has given him his best for over 20 years and always been there when he was needed then thats just too bad for Ozzy, his miss, and he can't expect his fans to still be as loyal when he can't be.
So a big congrats to REAL fans like Robonez and a few other, go join other piss-ass forums for those fake fans, and what ever happens I will still be Zakk Wylde's no.1 fan.
