ALICE IN CHAINS: Performance Footage Of New Song Available; New Interview Clip Posted Online - July 26, 2009
Fan-filmed video footage of ALICE IN CHAINS performing the new song "A Looking In View" live on July 18, 2009 at Comerica Park in Detroit as special guests of KID ROCK can be viewed below. (Note: camera work is a little shaky at the beginning of the clip.) Also available is an excerpt from an interview AIC guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney gave to comedian Jim Breuer of Raw Dog, an uncensored comedy station on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Although it's been posted online and is not an official single, "A Looking In View" has already begun climbing the rock radio charts as the first new music released by the group in 14 years. Cantrell told The Pulse of Radio what the song was about. "The song is kind of generally about how easy it is to remain in a bad groove (laughs), you know, remain in a bad rut," he said. "The most difficult and at the same time easy thing is just to step out of it, you know what I mean? It's like being in a cell that you're locked in, with a door that's not locked. That could be anything, you know. It could be any sort of behavioral or thought process that keeps you there and basically keeps you from growing."

"A Looking In View" is taken from the new ALICE IN CHAINS album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", which arrives on September 29.

The group's setlist for the Detroit concert was as folows:

01. Angry Chair
02. Man In The Box
03. Them Bones
04. A Looking In View
05. Down In A Hole
06. No Excuses
07. Would?
08. Again
09. Rooster

Check out photos and the band's official recap of the concert at AliceInChains.com.

ALICE IN CHAINS has tapped U2 and WHITE STRIPES video director Alex Courtes to shoot a clip for the first single from the record, "Check My Brain".

Fans and members of the press heard "Black Gives Way To Blue" in its entirety at a private listening party in Los Angeles on July 14, followed by a three-song acoustic set by the band in which it debuted two songs from the album live — the title track and "Your Decision".

The group's tour starts on September 4 in Washington D.C.

God AIC is back! Although K. Rock should be opening for them, at least he is showing some respect I guess, also he has (must) to feel very honored to be sharing the stage with such a great band.

oh fucking wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was awesome.

The studio version has more of Jerry's voice prominent but live William's voice truely shines. I can only imagine what that sounded like THERE and with pro tools equipment. I can not wait to see them live........

Great post.. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for Sept 29th. AIC is one of the greatest, most under-rated bands ever.

why is there nobody up front??????? i thought this was detroit rock city? i was at tiger stadium in june '96 when they opened up the first date of the Kiss reunion tour and that was fuckin insane.

theres no way everybody showed up late just for kid rock. thats weak. of course it was the third to last show with layne in '96.

That was really good for being fan-filmed.

Not to keep beating a dead horse, but why the fucking delay until the end of September? I just don't get it. The album is finished, they're playing shows, the tour starts at the beginning of Sept., What's the fucking holdup??? Packaging?

This is one of the few times I wish it WOULD leak out on the net.

Van- You do realize Kid Rock has sold tens and tens of millions of records, right?
Museum- There's a lot more that goes into an album's release and scheduling. Part of it could be a glut of releases before that. There's a lot of factors.

Do some research on your own as to why record companies take their time on releasing albums, especially these days. The days of finishing an album and 2 months later it comes out are pretty much gone, at least in terms of major labels. The company takes their time to 1. gather their resources (AIC was just signed a few months ago, the company has other bands already on schedule), 2. use those resources for promotion and hype. If you're a band in AIC's case coming back after 14 years, you're happy your new record label is 1. taking the time to promote your new album, 2. using their budget to do so.

It's two months away, man. It will be worth it. Easily 1st or 2nd best album of the year.

Yes man, I do know that K. Rock has sold lots of albums, millions, but I was referring to the music that each one of them makes. The thing is what kind of music you like the most (obviously AIC in my case), it's a matter of taste, that's all.

K. Rock, well, I'm just going to say that I don't enjoy very much the kind of rock (or music) he makes, maybe a couple of songs, that's it. Besides, not always the one that sells more means that it's the best. In that sense he has been releasing albums with some regularity, and AIC quite the contrary for well known reasons.

AIC, IMHO, is way more relevant in terms of music than K. Rock multiplied by 1000, that was my whole point. It's just like some festivals when you see Heaven & Hell or Motorhead (per example) opening for Linkin Park, you see what I mean?

Can't judge without the studio version but the music is VERY AIC and I start to believe again -- to my own surprise. Wow and ouch.

I just realized that Blabbermouth never posts anything about Kid Rock, unless it's got something to do with a more "metal" band.

Lol, good job blabbermouth.

And, CANT WAIT FOR NEW AIC WAAAHH

Art Junkie- You're 100% correct.
Van- I'm more thankful a band I like has the opportunity to play for a much larger crowd than they normally would, a large portion of which have probably never seen them.
