LIMP BIZKIT's DJ LETHAL To MACHINE HEAD: 'The Only Thing Crushed Was Your Egos' - Aug. 2, 2009
LIMP BIZKIT's DJ Lethal (a.k.a. Leor Dimant) has responded to MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn's assertion that MH was going to "crush" LB when the two bands shared the stage earlier today (Sunday, August 2) at the Sonisphere festival at the legendary Knebworth Park, United Kingdom.

MACHINE HEAD, who announced on July 7 that they were pulling out of the U.K. Sonisphere because the event's promoter "placed, unbeknownst to us, LIMP BIZKIT in our third slot on the festival," returned to the bill as the top-secret "special guests." They performed right before LIMP BIZKIT, hitting the stage at around 2:45 p.m.

Writing on MACHINE HEAD's official message board the day before the band's appearance at the festival, Flynn said, "We're going to fucking CRUSH LIMP BIZKIT!!!!"

Flynn addressed MACHINE HEAD's reason for returning to the Sonisphere bill during the band's performance at the event. He said, "After the promoters of Sonisphere begged us to come back onto this thing last week, the only even consideration that we made it for is for all of you fucking fans, man! It wasn't for Sonisphere, it wasn't for LIMP BIZKIT — it was for the fucking lunatics of this fucking country that have treated us so fucking good, man. It is an honor to play for you, guys. It is a privilege to play for you, guys. We are so fucking lucky to have a fan base like you, man."

Shortly after LIMP BIZKIT concluded its performance at Sonisphere, DJ Lethal posted the following message on his Facebook profile:

"Just finished playing at Sonisphere festival in London with NIN and METALLICA... As for (MACHINE HEAD), hahaha, the only thing crushed was your egos. lol... Suck it!!!!"

According to LimpBizkit.org, DJ Lethal commented further on the MACHINE HEAD situation while responding to a couple of fans on Facebook. He wrote, "I am a fan [of MACHINE HEAD] too; they just got pissy about some promoter stuff then got personal... I even wore a MH shirt on stage . . . They still played after crying about the whole thing. We would have gladly played before them; no big deal. But whaa whaa whaaaaaa…"

In a recent Twitter update, LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst claimed that he was "shocked" when he first heard that MACHINE HEAD was pulling out of the U.K. Sonisphere because of a dispute over LIMP BIZKIT's slot at the festival. However, he was quick to add, "[I] love MACHINE HEAD [and] always will."

Machine Head will always be better than Limp and I love them dearly but if I remember, didn't Machine Head jump on the whole rap metal bandwagon there for an album or two after Limp Bizkit became huge. Didn't Machine Head even stop being friends with Skinab after their singer said the Burning Red sounded like a Limp album? Limp suck, but glad to see they are apperently the bigger men here.

It must suck for Rapper to know that even though nu-metal is 10 years gone and thrash metal is back with a vengeance, Limp Bizkit still has more fans and more drawing power than Machine Head.

outselling another band or making the mainstream fans go nuts does not equal superiority, or integrity, or prove anything whatsoever. anyone who knows anything about music knows that Machine Head blows Limp Bizkit away.

It doesn't matter what you post after this. If you believe DJ Lethal, you are wrong. Period. I know, you're going to say that music is subjective and make all sorts of arguments, and under normal circumstances I'd agree with you. But history will show that LB is the scourge of the metal community and an embarrassment to musicians in general.

Flynn is steamed because it reminds him of when he and his band rapped out to metal or metaled out to rap. He probably was trying to be Limp Bizkit when he jumped onto that trend. Now MH have been on the Metallica trend with the Black ening album/

They all realized they were idiots and went back to making albums that sound like themselves again but do you ever hear so much shit talk.

Do you hear people go oh Megadeth they suck because they made "Youthanasia", "Cryptic Writings", or especially "Risk"? NO!

Do you hear people go oh Exodus suck because they made "Force Of Habit"? NO!

Do you hear people go oh Testament suck because they made "The Ritual"? NO!

It is rare to even hear people say Slayer suck for "Diabolus In Musica" which was inspired by nu-metal bands like Slipknot...

It is rare to hear people say Kreator suck for "Outcast" and "Endorama"...

You guys are a bunch of contradicting dumb fucks who shit on this band yet like some bands who did the same exact thing in their careers. Now they are back to playing metal and everything is alright but for Machine Head it isn't? Fuck that!

FOR THE GOD DAMN RECORD SINCE TOO MANY IDIOTS THINK "THE BLACKENING" IS MACHINE HEAD'S FIRST ALBUM SINCE "THE MORE THINGS CHANGE" TO BE METAL AGAIN!

To those saying that there was no "thrash revival" when Through the Ashes of Empries was released, yes there was. Machine Head jumped on at the right time. A band called Shadows Fall had released two masterpieces of thrash albums in Of One Blood and The Art of Balance before downgrading thier sound on The War Within. Bands like Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Arch Enemy, Chimaira, In Flames, Soilwork, Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, God Forbid, Children of Bodom, Himsa, and All That Remains were all being featured on MTV Headbangers Ball right along with Machine Head! Don't try to tell me that similar music to Machine Head wasn't gaining recognition at the time! MH is vastly overrated and are not even as good as most of the above mentioned bands. They have a few very good tracks, some good ones, and mostly average to mediocre tracks.

Yeah, that's right. I didn't think about it being called the NWOAHM. I enjoy alot of those bands, and I will admit that when I was younger I enjoyed Limp Bizkit. They were a springboard to heavier things. Now I prefer melodic death metal. I dislike Limp Bizkit and everything they stand for now, but they were an important part of my musical evolution. I've enjoyed a few Machine Head songs but as a whole I feel they are overrated and certainly not worthy of all the praise they get.

It would be like a someone telling everyone you used to listen to Nu-metal or pop or something along those lines. It brings you back to a time you would like to forget."

Whether that is true or not, a band has a responsibility. Tickets to this show were well over $100 if I'm not mistaken. You have to be professional about it. You have fans who have paid a large sum of hard earned money to see your show. Pulling an Axl Rose is not a good way to make your fans feel appreciated. I haven't been a huge fan of MH, but I have always respected that they seemed to be a fan's band, until this.

Kreator's sound has changed and evolved over the years plenty of times (in fact, they haven't recorded the same album since 1990 as far as I'm concerned), and each subsequent Kreator album has been different than the one before it but STILL "Kreator", as it were.

- Limp Bizkit shouldn't even be mentioned on this site as they are THE bastardization of music in general.

- Robb Flynn should just shut the fuck up already as his integrity is so flushed out and gray that it's hard to take him seriously.

- High School antics should remain in High School

This should have been about the fans. This is a festival in Europe who's crowd as a general rule is eclectic in musical taste and wants to have a good time, for the most part. Which means that shitting on parades is not cool at all.

General respect 101: I think Robb forgets how cool it is to play those festivals, its a fucking privilege! Which means that it's just as cool to any of the bands playing. Then some cockface comes along and talks shit on your already shit ridden band....awesome.

I never liked MH. I heard some of the second album and it was the same. Never bothered with the later albums, but gave the last one a chance. Does nothing for me.

This is not a slam to all you MH fans. But I just could never get into them. You may not agree, but there is no one that can convince my ears the "Burn my eyes" was not Nu-Metal.

Granted, Nu-metal was not big when that album came out. But that does not take away the bouncy elements Nu-metal is known for.

But I'm a huge fan of Vio-Lence. Especially "Eternal Nightmare"

I like MH but even I have to admit Burn My Eyes was a Pantera ripoff. Love The Blackening tho. I admit i had the 1st LB cd. It was something different at the time. But Significant Other was just sad ass lame shit. Does anyone remember that the only reason their songs got played on radio was the fact they paid to have them played? They admitted it for years.

This shows these `grown-up´ people act like kids. These `I am tougher than you´ behaviours that lead to nowhere show that, plain ridiculous!!!!!!!!
