The billing dispute between MACHINE HEAD and LIMP BIZKIT was the subject of much Internet chatter prior to this past weekend's U.K. edition of the Sonisphere festival, with Robb Flynn and Co. pulling out of their slot at the event after having been bumped down the lineup with the addition of Fred Durst and his LB bandmates. While MACHINE HEAD eventually returned to the bill in the slot below LIMP BIZKIT as the "special guests", many people had their own opinions on the situation, one of those being LAMB OF GOD guitarist Willie Adler. Komodo Rock's Krissy Elliott spoke with Adler at the festival and asked for his views on the MACHINE HEAD/ LIMP BIZKIT controversy. Komodo Rock: What do you think of the whole issue surrounding MACHINE HEAD refusing to play then coming back on the bill? Willie Adler: I'm glad they came back on. It's a matter of… they just didn't wanna open up for LIMP BIZKIT, and I agree with them. I wouldn't wanna open up for LIMP BIZKIT! They've been out of the scene for so long, I mean, who cares? Who cares about LIMP BIZKIT? Komodo Rock: So why does it seem that although other bands such as KORN think Fred Durst has had it, everyone suddenly seems interested in LIMP BIZKIT again? Willie Adler: I don't know, I'm not interested in LIMP BIZKIT! You tell me man! Is that crowd interested? Komodo Rock: They played Download festival and drew a big crowd. Maybe it's the nostalgia element? Willie Adler: I guess so…. I'm the wrong guy to ask because it's not my thing. I have no fucking idea! Komodo Rock: So you don't support it then? Willie Adler: No! Say what you will, but Limp Bizkit are innovators in music and leaders in their genre, however 'shitty' and 'untrue' you may think it is.
Lamb of God and Machine Head are false metal posers that have brought nothing to music, trying to act hard and stand up for "real music", failing to realise that Limp Bizkit are better and more original musicians than they could ever dream of being.
And no, I do not like Limp Bizkit.

I'm guessing that 80% of the posts on hear that support Limp Bizkit are from band members, people who work for the band or relatives of the band.
I'm not trying to sound like a traditional hater by any means but I can honestly say that I do not understand how anybody can actually like Limp Bizkit and actually be serious about liking them.
Maybe it's just me, I don't know. But this band, in my opinion, is truly a bad band and I do not know how anybody can actually listen to them.
Just my 2 cents...

If you read the negative comments properly, you'll see that most of the Blabbermouth posters, who criticize Machine Head and Lamb Of God for their bashing Of Limp Bizkit, actually are not fans of the latter band either. The point is that band members of trend followers like Machine Head and Lamb Of God are about the last people to have a right to bash Limp Bizkit. After all, they are hardly any better themselves, in terms of selling out to the masses. Sure they are good musicians and have delivered some great music, but they just sound ridiculous when they claim that they don't want to open for a band like Limp Bizkit and act all tough about it on the internet or in interviews.
Five to ten years ago, Willie Adler and Robb Flynn would have literally kissed Fred Durst's ass to be a support-act on a Limp Bizkit tour. But now that they perceive thrash metal and Metallica to be "hot" and nu-metal and Limp Bizkit to be "not", they are kissing Metallica's asses and pretend to be "real" thrash metal musicians, so they can tour with Metallica (who were actually bigger sell-outs in the 1990's than Limp Bizkit ever were, but you don't hear Adler or Flynn about thát).
These posers just bash Limp Bizkit now because they perceive it as the "cool" thing to do, not because they have good taste in music. It's all about the image and the money for these guys, and they're obviously jealous of Limp Bizkit for having and getting much more money that they do themselves. Why didn't you hear these so-called "real" metal musicians bashing Limp Bizkit in the early 1990's when that band was still at the top of the charts? I guess they were too busy rapping along to their songs back then.

These bands all praise bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden but fail to realise why they will never reach that status = Professionalism. Limp Bizkit sucks, they've always sucked, and their fans suck. End of story....honestly, I can understand why so many other bands don't like them being back, I know I (and many others) could've been just fine without this piece of shit never returning. Metal is a stale, repetitive genre full of tasteless insecure morons. It has a few awesome bands, but 99% of the time, metal plain fucking sucks.
Like them or not, Limp Bizkit (Durst aside) are vastly superior, vastly more professional musicians than either Lamb of God or Machine Head.

Sonically, LB were the best band of the weekend. LOG were probably the best set. Metallica were like a blockbuster movie. BFMV were OK. Anthrax were great with BUSH back. Sylosis were totally awesome. MH were very powerful and Flynn was a great conductor of festival mayhem. Killing Joke and NIN were not appropriate and dull. Linkin Park say say. Open your fucking minds LB and LOG bashers - enjoy this shit - it fuckin' rocks - bash shit like the artic monkeys NOT people like Wes Borland who's 'metal' guitar sound and riff control was fuckin huge. And he's not as cliched as most of the 'cool metalcore gang', but more like their leader Adam Dutkiewicz but with face paint. I do admit however, Fred Durst has an irrating voice. Love all metal - especially Steel Panther!!!!!

The funniest part about all of this is that Willia Adler has done virtually NO press at all since the release of Wrath earlier this year. I've seen no interviews or even quotes from regarding the new LP or the tours or anything.
And then some interviewer asks him about Limp Dick and we get this. Fucking hillarious.
Willier Adler is one of metal's best riff men working today. Much respect.

LB owes everything to Korn. Korn was the TRUE innovator back in the mid 90s. Korn's debut is still a damn fine album, albeit not metal, but they showed that nu metal had potential. Only other band to do that was Slipknot (imo).

Like some other guy said, Machine Head only have one great album: the first one. Nowadays, they have 10 minute songs and lovely emo choruses. Yawn...........
However, by far, LOG are one of the worst bands ever. I had the misfortune of being in that Adler guys presence a few years ago and he was a complete dick, a total wanker.
LOG are a band only 14 year old would take seriously. Such a watered down version of Pantera, "Strength Beyond Strength" would completely crush their brand of emo metal. Pathetic. Thank goodness James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Tom Warrior, and Bill Steer are still playing guitar.
Trivium are also a complete joke.

The only time I was really a fan of LB was back in the day when I was first discovering my own kind of music in like 8th grade when Chocolate Starfish came out. Since then I've discovered FAR BETTER bands out there then them. I think their huge popularity at the time was just because of that...it was the time for rap-ish pop metal to be the "in thing" and they took advantage of it. That time is long gone and Durst and the rest of the group need to hang up the towel and let the more superior bands reign instead.

If you have ever followed Machine head, especially since the early years, you will notice that wat ever metal trend is around at the time, they have taken in and made an album with it ...
... Early staind and Korn (mid '90's) were popular, machinehead comes on the scene ... very similar to the music trend of the time ... but just another band, nothing special or original ...
Rememer when rap-metal and LB were popular?? - Burning Red and Supercharger BOTH albums with rap metal ... Rob Flynn trying following the trends
Then rap metal went away ... metal starts making its return ... Killswitch, LOG ... what a surprise, machine head change their image once again to suit the trend ... ashes is released
Then Thrash and guitar solos became popular again ... The blackening comes out, solo in every song ... and all of a sudden machine head are a thrash metal band Now ...
... Machine head are one of the biggest sell outs in metal today ... they have ZERO identity ... and will continue to follow the trends and will never make it big ... nothing original ever

LB never claimed to be metal. They were a band who made heavy music for fun. THey never taken themselves seriously. MH has no room to talk shit about Limp Bizkit since Machinehead themselves were nu metal at one point.
Lamb of God definitely has better musicianship than Limp Bizkit. But Lamb of God aren't necessarily "Pure american metal" themselves.
Examples of Pure American Metal= Pantera, Overkill, early Metallica/Megadeth, Black Label Society, Armored Saint, WASP, Savatage etc. LOG=watered down grindcore

Ya LB stuck to their musical style, but lets not forget they went away for almost a decade, and came back right on time when all other numetal bands decided to get back together. May i add, MH and trend following is debatable. There are NO EMO CHORUSES in The Blackening. Ever heard of clean singing? On top of it, MH STILL plays songs from The Burning Red and Supercharger too this day. We see them play songs off these records more than Metallica playin songs off St. Anger. and to say that their completely against nu-metal is bullshit, cuz MH still plays shows with Korn and even helped raise money for Chi Cheng from the Deftones. Now I Lay Thee Down, has Deftones influence, and if ya dont hear it, then it just sucks to be you
As for Sonicsphere, MH had every right to be as pissed as they were. They werent originally supposed to be before LB, LB wanted to completely replace MH of their slot on the tour so that MH could be on a smaller stage. Now thats the bullshit a lot of people dont know that is happening. Ya, Robb and DJ Lethal blew this outta proportion. But LB started this with being on the higher slot from the beginning. Mr. Lethal added more fuel to the fire, and now both sides are goin nuts.

you know, i will never get lamb of god. i find their music overly po-faced and devoid of either the fun, emotion or adrenaline that comes to me from the heavy music i love.
but i would NEVER then say *well fuck lamb of god* just because i don't "get" the energy that drives them or their fans. and i would never disrespect a band that did an awful lot to keep metal of any kind in the spotlight at a point when it was nearly dead, while metallica were making alt-rock records and their "successors" machine head had also disappeared into watered-down nonsense for more money.
it's not that the music machine head made in the late 90s was "bad", it's just that it wasn't THEM. they were being something they weren't. at least limp bizkit stay true to what they're doing. but slagging them off achieves nothing, and is a very immature thing to do. lamb of god should stay quiet on this and get working on a record better than their last one.

LB are getting the attention that they want, albeit mostly negative. If we keep ranting and raving about them, as well as other musicians, they won't go away sooner than we would like them to.
Let them do an album and tour and fade away. Then, the music industry can continue on as it did, back when LB went away and were all but forgotten about. Unfortunately other obnoxious "bands", who should also go away, took their place, ahem Stinkin Park, BFMV, emocore crap.
It is funny how Robb has seemed to forget about The Burning Red and Supercharger albums, which turned me away from MH as they reaked of trend following crap metal. They've since gone in the right direction with the last 2 albums. Fans don't forget what direction you took, blame Arhue or the record biz, but don't knock LB for what they are/were when MH was trying to fit in that scene too.
As far as musicianship goes, it's safe to say MH and LoG have more talent.

Hmmm...so I read that LB is gonna put out a new album. Money grab, yes. Would I buy it? No...never been a fan for a guy in his late 20's (who witnessed, and appreciated "some" nu-metal back then...not LB). For LOg and Mr. Adler....YOU ALL are just sounding like a bunch of pussies picking on LB for the sole reason of not liking their image, their music, or what they have to offer today (when obviously, REAL METAL IS ALIVE AND WELL). Those guys have ALWAYS sucked, never were even close to being Metal. They are nothing but frat boy rap bullshit. With that said, fuck Machine Head, they also suck, Vio-Lence was 1000 times the band they are. And to top it off, Fuck Lamb of God too. I've heard them touted as the next great Metal band but they also suck. None of these guys are anywhere near the level of the Bay Area scene or the NYHC scene of the 80's.

Milli Vanilli's album "All or Nothing" (remixes) sold six million albums, and the two guys you see didn't even sing the songs.
Now what does that say about Limp Bizkit? Is it a testament to their talent or to the level of promotion they received at the height of the nu-metal movement/fad?
I listened to LB for a long time, and I still listen to Korn. I will definitely check out LB's new album, if only by bitTorrent. BUT, I still recognize the fact that LB and Korn both achieved such popularity because of exposure. Eventually, overexposure rendered the bands unpopular, and they ceased to sell as many albums.
Marketing does not equal musicianship.

Not to mention a slew of other highly important, and highly kick-ass metal records. But for the sake of clowning you, I'll spare the list.
Have you not tolerance for anything not TOTALLY X-TREME? The intro on "Wrath" is fucking beautiful -- and the carry over of melody in the the juggernaut of a next track is genius.

I can't believe so many people on here would support Limp Bizkit,
a completely irrelevant band, no matter how much they've been called "innovators". So they sell sextuple-platinum. So does that mean that everyone who does that is "better" than LoG or Machine Head? Limp Bizkit are NOT metal.
A year or so ago, I was looking at stuff on sale at Guitar Center on a bargain table, and I saw the Limp Bizkit biography book selling for a whopping 5 cents!!

This sad state of affairs seems to revolve around the fact that because limp bizkit is more popular they are a better band.
Quantity verses Quality.
If you think Fred can drop sick flows, think rap metal is more metal that the rest, believe its cool to listen to LB, can't wait to go to the next LB concert then its no surprise you don't like LOG. & thats because your a simpleton who has not developed past mediocre music. You might have your roots in rap however there are some rappers that know how to craft music but Fred from LB is not one of them.
Its predominantly average music that appeals to average people. There are alot more average people out there, so it's natural that a band thats average lyrically, musically & technically will appeal to more average people, especially in this day and age.
The joke is you can't see past the facade that limp bizkit has created and don't know any better than to blindly follow.

Money and sales are a huge part of festival booking and musicianship is only as big a factor as the record buying public allows it to be.
As horrible as it is, Limp Bizkit have headlined metal festivals all over the world alongside Maiden, Metallica, the greatest and biggest metal bands in existence.
Machine Head and Lamb of God have not achieved this (yet).
Machine Head have come out of this looking like twats.
Pulling out of the festival only to limp back on as "special guests" was one of the more cynical, weak and pathetic things I've seen in ages. And who the hell is Robb Flynn to slam Limp Bizkit - he wasted two albums trying to jump on the rap metal bandwagon, and it cost MH their record deal!
Willie Adler - entitled to his own opinion, but who really cares about anybody saying 'fuck Limp bizkit' anymore? So 2001.
Do you ever hear SLAYER bitching and moaning about going on before anybody? They've supported some real crap over the last two decades, but they've just manned up, thrown down and destroyed the next band on every time.
There's a lesson about real professional integrity in this.
I've always loathed the Bizkit - living through that mini-mosher craze was really annoying - but I'm far more disgusted and let down by MH in this.

Limp Bizkit: a band that never takes themselves seriously but only taken seriously by detractors. So far has been humble and haven't bad mouthed MH. Just want to make music for fun, plain and simple and yet they still get hated on like it's 2001.
Lamb of God: Good band, their best moment was in 2004 and has plateaued since then. Better musicianship than Bizkit yet have a horrid vocals that hold the band back from reaching their full potential.
Machine head: Second rate Pantera without the soul. First two albums were the beginnings of what would become nu-metal. The Burning red was the end of their credibility. That fact that mH came back from their nu metal era as if it never happen was a slap in the face.

Come on guys this is so pointless.... personally I started to play Limp Bizkit songs on my bass so many years ago, and now I play John Campbell songs, and there is nothing wrong with that, i listen what i fuck.... want, and i don give a s.h.i.t. about the comentaries of anyone,
Significant Other, will be one of my favorite albums of all time, because i like rap, and all that dj and pose sh... and in the same way i love death and thrash metal, and Ashes of the Wake will be one my favorite too....
The really trend is the hate for L.B., and you represent it because you can't fucking accept the success of one band, that can move crowds like Download Festival in this year the same way as Lamb Of God does so.... take your critics and put it up you f....... asses..
