MASTODON will perform live on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Thursday, October 29. Tune in 12:35 a.m. and 11:35 p.m. CT on NBC stations.

The band is currently touring Europe with METALLICA in support of its latest album, "Crack The Skye", which sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MASTODON fans have responded with manic enthusiasm to the band's new LP, snapping up every available copy of various limited edition artifacts including the deluxe tunnel book CD+DVD package, both color and double-disc 180 gm gatefold vinyl pressings, plus a pair of CD single/T-shirt bundles; all long gone. Act fast and you just might still find a pair of the "Blood Mountain" or "Blade Catcher" design MASTODON Vans shoes, available online and in Vans shops now.

Tour co-headliners Nathan Explosion, William Murderface, Skwisgaar Swigelf, Toki Wartooth and Pickles — better known as DETHKLOK — will take to the road in support of the band's latest CD release from Williams Street Records, "Dethklok: The Dethalbum II", which will be released as both a standard and deluxe edition on September 29. Bringing the animated band to life on stage each night will be series co-creator and composer Brendon Small along with an all-star band, including legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNZG LAD, TESTAMENT, DARK ANGEL, DEATH), Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally. These real life-musicians will perform live while dark-lit and playing underneath a giant projection screen featuring all-new animation and music videos from DETHKLOK to create a truly unique concert experience.

Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, CONVERGE will release its anticipated new album, "Axe To Fall", on October 20 via Epitaph Records. The release is the follow-up to the highly acclaimed "No Heroes" CD, released on Epitaph in 2006.

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, HIGH ON FIRE creates "bad-ass" modern metal that merges primal fury and aggression, skyscraping riff explosions and hesher bombast with a monolithic heaviness. Described as "a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness," HIGH ON FIRE has burned the hard rock rulebook since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both unique and absolutely crushing.

I'm so sick of hearing people say Mastodon is overhyped. They deserve every bit of the hype surrounding them and the success they've attained. Each of their albums shows great songwriting and growth, and they kick major ass live. Crack the Skye is a stroke of brilliance, and a classic in the making. Those that say they are overhyped clearly haven't given them much of a chance. I will be at the MI date for sure.

for a "hyped" band they don't do much headlining tour. They do a lot of supporting tour, and they didn't even play on the main stage AND played really early at Sonisphere. They deserve the success they have and their reputation but they are also pretty humble guys.

However, I will pass this show... I dont want to sit through Dethklok. I've already done that once when I went to see Soilent Green.

Ok, Frozen. Your statement is a prime example of overhyping Mastodon. According to you, one MUST recognize the "brilliance" of a Mastodon record in order to avoid being an idiot. Really? I'm sure you don't mean that because it would equate you with any number of religious or political extremists. It's more likely that you used hyperbole in order to stress that Mastodon cannot be overhyped. The irony is that you had to overhype the band in order to make your point. If Mastodon hadn't been overhyped from the very beginning, few people would know who they are today. They've been the media's little darlings ever since they signed to Relapse 8 years ago.

Mastodon must really like touring with Converge. Or they have the same agent or something. This will be the third tour they've done together. I personally can't stand Converge. Too much tough-guy bullshit going on there. Hopefully they play first, because I'd hate to have to sit through them between High On Fire and Dethklok....

Quite frankly, you do not belong on this site. If you want to be accepted you will have to "dumb it down" a little and participate in brainless hero worship.

And we're getting off point, folks, the point is that you might as well leave after High On Fire finishes because that's when the real show is over.

Sorry Masturbatodon... you are so overhyped I can't even think about it anymore

Mastodon are pretty fucking great. I know this is all sooo subjective but "Crack the Skye" is superb. Every single song on it is really well done. I'm not someone that was into them throughout their early stuff but I have not heard a better cd this year.

I get it's not for everyone and that's okay but neither is Lamb of God. God I hate that band! Sorry fellas it is what it is. I don't get the whole cookie-monster/screamo scene but I know it has it's place.

The part that bugs me about screamo/cookie monster stuff is that the musicianship is normally flawless but the singing is dreadful. I know, it's all subjective but blaahhhhh.

Haha, what a fail post that was. Sandro67's uncanny display of sheer ignorance is hilarious. In highly creative fashion, he calls "Bluesy-Sludge-Metal" a fad, disregarding that the first metal band played that exact hybrid and remains as an unmatched superior in annals of the Metal genre. High On Fire will dominate this tour, just like Matt Pike has reigned supreme ever since "Sleep's Holy Mountain". If any fad should discontinue, it's what Converge is playing; Metalcore. And Sandro67, get out of metal.

And you sir, are another example of someone who rags on a band as soon as they get some sort of recognition by the mainstream media, regardless of wether it is deserved or not. I have a feeling you're one of those 'trendy' metal fans who judge the 'coolness' or success of a band by how small their fan base. I bet you like to reel off the names of bands that nobody has heard of, then turn your nose up at them for not having a clue what you're on about. Congrats man, you're truly underground. Either that, or you've listened to Mastodon, specifically Crack The Skye, and just plain dont like it because you dont understand the level of musicianship and creativity that went into the record (am i over-hyping?). I agree that Frozen is a twerp who isn't giving the Mastodon fanbase much credibilty, but seriously, justify that last statement you made.

Crack the Skye is either a truely visionary piece of metal...or the best damn Neurosis album ever created.

Fichte08, do you know who Neurosis is? Or are they too overhyped for you too?

Either way, in this day and age, when most good metal bands seem to exist in Europe and NOT the USA (I'm looking at you L.O.G, Killswitch EnGAYged, and all of Fichte08 other favorite bands), Crack The Skye was a very welcome and refreshing addition to the metal scene!

COMMENT | why people say Mastodon is overhyper or overrated

Because they are popular now and are co-headling now in venues that hold a couple thousand people or more because their last large club tour sold out most shows all over the world. It is common knowledge that once a band achieves moderate success then instantly all the fan boys turn their backs and suddenly hate them. "Crack The Skye" is an amazing album and it is hard to believe anyone with half a brain and a sense for good music would think otherwise.

High On Fire + Mastodon = awesome show!

Converge = terrible vocalist who has 1 scream tone every song but the rest of the band is quit tight and their guitarist is quit innovative in some of his ideas. Not worth sitting through again live though.

going for High on Fire and Dethklok. Seen Mastodon and they SUCKED. Brent Hinds sounded horrible, the guitars were a sloppy mess...drums were solid though. Of course, they could come up from behind and ass fuck me with sheer metal brilliance. I never count out a band after seeing them only once. Actually...I don't want anybody from Mastodon coming up from behind. They look smelly. Converge I have a lot of respect for and I hear they are good live. Not my cup of metal by any means but I will give them a chance. Dethklok really has the potential to suck, but I like the show and really dig the music on the show....should be fun. High on Fire are just the tits man. Just the tits.

I do know this, if ever there was a poster-band for overhype, it would indeed be Mastodong. All hype no substance. I can't even begin to explain how forgettable this band is.

High On Fire will embarrass them. They should not have scheduled a tour together because now they're going to get shown up.
