HOMME, GROHL, JONES To Perform At LOLLAPALOOZA After-Party? - Aug. 4, 2009
THEM CROOKED VULTURES, the new supergroup featuring Josh Homme (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE), John Paul Jones (LED ZEPPELIN) and Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS), is rumored to be playing a last-minute Lollapalooza after-show party on Sunday, August 9 at the Metro in Chicago, Illinois. An image (see below) advertising the event on eTix (which is said to be a "pioneer in on-demand ticketing software") lists three symbols, which look identical to those of FOO FIGHTERS, LED ZEPPELIN (more specifically, Jones' symbol), and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, August 6 at 10:00 am CST (Internet only) via eTix.com.

The trio is said to be currently holed up in a Los Angeles recording studio working on an album that's been the biggest secret in rock for what seems like years now.

Josh Homme's wife Brody Dalle recently told Antiquiet, "I'm not at liberty to talk about it… but I think [the project] is pretty fucking amazing. Just beats and sounds like you've never heard before."

According to Lemon Squeezings, Jones wrote in an online post in April that he hoped "to be everywhere this summer" with "a couple of other people" who've been "working [with him] on some other music, which is more rock-based."

Jones in recent years has sat in with FOO FIGHTERS onstage and in the studio, and conducted an orchestra for Grohl's band at the Grammy Awards. Homme, who is the only consistent member of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, allowed Grohl to guest on that outfit's breakthrough single.

When Jones first hinted of a summer project, he gave few details — and intentionally so, it appears, due to an expressed secrecy revolving around the collaboration. After dropping his sole hint in an interview with Women's Wear Daily, Jones added, "It's a secret, actually. I shouldn't have even said that, you know? There are some exciting projects coming up, let's put it that way."

seeing as John Paul Jones is one of the most respected musicians in Rock & Roll history, if he sees fit to be in a band with Homme and Grohl then there must be some cred there. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean Jones does too.

I hope this after party gig finds it's way to youtube!

Is fucking awesome. Josh Homme is pretty unspectacular as far as I can see...

and Dave Grohl? Hell of a nice guy and an OK drummer, but let's face it - he made a career out of Cobain's talent. Nirvana was awesome. Foo Fighters fucking sucks arse.

It's great to see John Paul Jones making a concerted effort to do something new musically after all these years. If only the other two, specifically Page, weren't such lazy self-indulgent farts they could pull off one hell of a reunion.

... on the other hand that's just my wishful thinking. Truth is, Led Zeppelin has mythological rock status. They aren't KISS; they don't need a nostalgia tour and a half-baked radio-friendly-unit-shifter album. They'd be hard-pressed to go any higher than they already have.

Maybe if they sold their souls to the devil like the original Zep did their album would save the world of music!!!!! I think every band should have to sell their souls to make an album.

Hey negativecreep- "overrated" and "don't deserve to play with him?" Don't you think the guy who played with Bonham and Page would be a better judge of talent than, oh let's say, you??

Battlemagic- He's an ok drummer? Ok? Have you heard all of the stuff he's played on? He's a pretty fantastic drummer.

Stonecoldmetal- Yeah, getting rid of the guy who wrote 2-3 songs really changed their direction.

How can you knock the talent of Grohl or Homme? They are both great. Maybe I don't like some of the music they've put out there, but have you ever listened to Kyuss or the Probot release? These guys are total genius

COMMENT | NO ONE listens to the Foo Fighters because Dave was in Nirvana.

They have longevity, they have their own catalog, they have the critical praise, they have everything that is a sign of a band that worked hard and built their own reputation and success. And I don't even like their music. See how easy it is not to sound ignorant when talking about things you dislike?

People can badmouth Queens all they want, that's their prerogative. As it stands, though, Kyuss were an amazing band.

FF is a very good band man... I remember when they came out, they released this live video on MTV, and I learnt how to play guitar watching Pat Smear and Dave Grohl. To me, its really unfair to compare, or to say "yeah, the guy from Nirvana"... its just plain ignorant. Foo Fighters stand on their own. However, Nirvana will always be a legend, and I dont see Foo Fighters getting to that status, even if for some crazy reason Grohl shot himself in the head. For me, Nirvana changed history, Foo Fighters changed from rock to harder rock... but good rock, I must say.

Anyways, Grohl was/is in both bands, so for him its a win/win situation. I guess thats why everybody wants to hate on him, he's just so nice and cool, hes like the quintessential hater's target.

JPJ talked to Women's Wear Daily......dropping a SOLE hint?????? Did Dave or Josh HORN their way into the interview so they too could CONVERSE???? Did JPJ STRING the interviewer along, leaving their TONGUE wagging in excitement or did the interviewer PUMP him for more info???? Were they bother by a fly, which fled when JPJ told him to SHOE????? When asked how they were gonna get Brody backstage, Josh said we'll just SNEAKER???? If they cancel their appearance, who will be the HEEL?????

Dave Grohl sux. I'm so sick of this fucking guy already. He needs to put his money where his mouth is and make music like he did with his idols in Probot.

His schmaltzy Hysteria sellout rock needs to go die.

I hate that pout/whine thing in his voice...like his pussy is hurting.

He is a talented guy that stepped out of a shadow and decided to write "hits" instead of balls out rocking.

And now I have to run and hide from his shit when I hear it.

Except for most of probot.

Ok, I'm done whining about it now.

Makes great solo records, not pop, rock, or metal, but a little bit of everything.

I'm looking forward to this.
