RAMMSTEIN Signs U.S. Deal With VAGRANT RECORDS
- Aug. 5, 2009
|
|
RAMMSTEIN, the Berlin-based industrial metal sextet well known for their controversial and fiery live performances, returns with their first new album in four years, having signed a marketing and distribution deal in the U.S. with Vagrant Records. The 11-song CD is slated for a late fall 2009 simultaneous worldwide launch, with more details to be announced shortly. Pre-production for the new release was done at Castle Beerenstedt in eastern Germany’s Halle/Saale while the bulk of the recording was done in late 2008 at Northern California's Sonoma Mountain Studio. As with the band's previous releases, the new album was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hellner in Stockholm, Sweden. RAMMSTEIN has sold nearly three million records in the U.S. and over 14 million albums worldwide. The band first stormed American shores in 1998 touring behind their Grammy-nominated breakthrough sophomore release, "Sehnsucht". Band members were jailed in the U.S. on indecency charges during the 1998 Family Values tour due to RAMMSTEIN's highly provocative live show. RAMMSTEIN's last tour through the U.S. was in 2001 in support of "Mutter", and as they continued to sonically and visually explore societal and sexual taboos, RAMMSTEIN has found themselves embroiled in further controversies both here and abroad throughout the last decade. RAMMSTEIN retains an aura of mystery due in part to their ambiguous lyrics (sung almost entirely in German) while their chart-topping releases and sold-out worldwide tours prove that fans can’t get enough of this enigmatic group. RAMMSTEIN is: Till Lindemann - Vocals Paul Landers - Guitar Richard Z. Kruspe - Guitar Oliver Riedel - Bass Christoph Schneider - Drums Flake Lorenz - Keyboards

Rammstein is a great band but vagrant is a mediocre label. Most cds that come out through vagrant tend to go down hill from their previous release under a different label. Guessing that alot of bands are signing to this label due to strong contractual agreements, allowing for greater creative input and more money. I guess that it would be the bands just putting out bad music due to a lack of label input. Kind of makes you think??? Eiteher way Rammstein has been fall out of the spot light every since they came into the spot light. I'd go see them live any time, a fantastic live show. But I along with most of their past fans will pass on the new records. I hope they prove me wrong because these guys were bad ass back in the day.
This just in From Autumn To Ashes screamo singer to play drums and vocals on the next Rammstein album.

Seems like a weird label for them to sign to.
Can't wait for the fall tour with Senses Fail and The Bled.

It's a weird choice, yes. But, Vagrant is not a mediocre label. They're a pretty decent label. And your reasoning for it being mediocre (maybe I'm misinterpreting) is because bands' older material on other labels is usually better?

Rammstein has become a mediocre band. Their first 2-3 albums are great but then it went downhill. It's like Motörhead or AC/DC would try to switch to another style, they will never make it.

Vagrant Records is home to Eels, so that's good enough for me. Rammstein is the shit and their long overdue new album will put the knuckleheads and shit talkers in their place.

Can't wait for the new album. I loved each release to death so far, so this one should be good either way. I just hope it's a bit more violent than Rosenrot.

Don't care about the label, just glad that they have one here in the States.
According to a guy at an independant record store near me, Rammstein's lack of a label delayed the release of Rosenrot here... which pissed me off!
Really hope they tour the US soon!!!

Reise Reise was by no means mediocre and they're one band who continues to get better. Their last 'album' was comprised of leftovers and B-sides from the Reise Reise recording cycle so you can't even call it a proper full length. Volkerball is an excellent live release as well, the DVDs alone are worth the price for the 4 disc version.
I'm pumped to be able to get my hands on a new album and I don't give a crap who they tour with I'll go see 'em and they're pyro any day. Vagrant isn't the best label as far as fellow bands in their genre, but you can't blame a label for their bands writing crappy music. Although Roadrunner has a history of being douche bags about making bands write for a certain sound.

Each album has been a masterpiece on its own. I draw a similarity to Devin Townsend's current 4-album project with each one having starkly different feels, moods and chemistry. Same goes with Rammstein. Next to Mutter, which is without a doubt, their best sounding album yet, Herzeleid was probably their hardest hitting album. Then they went on their so-called "tanz-metal" tangent with Sehnsucht, which is why it was a hit in the States. Then with Mutter, they achieved their hardness once again with Mutter.
Now, onto Riese Riese - the plan was obvious from day one - this album was a monster on all fronts. Just listening to the amount of elements on the record - acoustic recordings (Los) accordion, strings, choir, (and no, they were NOT recorded off a keyboard) - just goes to show what the band goes through to record the "perfect" album. It is a fantastic mix of heaviness old-school Rammstein (Kiene Lust, Mein Teil) with the lighter side paying homage to past songs like Seemann, Klaiver, and Nebel among others. And yes, its no secret that Rosenrot were "leftovers" from the Riese Riese sessions, but like that album, it had a bit of everything.
With this new one, I'm hearing its going to revert back to the heavy shit on Mutter. And if that's the case, we're all in for a treat.

This band simply does not put out bad albums so this one should rock like the others. And new record = tour! I've never seen them live but if they come within a 200 mile radius of me I'm there.

its clear that they are getting a GREAT deal with vagrant, and vagrant is just glad to have a band that will have such huge name recognition.
its also clear that Rammstein has NO INTEREST int he american market. they make their money other places. they are tired of american arrogance and they dont need to deal with it.
