BLACK SABBATH, JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD, MÖTLEY CRÜE Featured On 'Brütal Legend' Soundtrack - Aug. 9, 2009
GameDaily.com has revealed the complete track listing for the Brütal Legend video game, whcih will be available for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and the PlayStation computer entertainment system on October 13 in North America and on October 16 in Europe.

"This soundtrack took years to put together as we wanted to represent every genre of metal, and also have the perfect music for every epic moment in the game," Tim Schafer, president of Double Fine Productions development studio, tells GameDaily.com. "It's designed to be loved by metal fans, and for those who are not, it will either convert them or make their heads explode ... or both."

"What can I say?," Emily Ridgeway, Brütal Legend's music director, adds. "It's metal. It's the best. It'll kick your fucking teeth in."

Brütal Legend is a third-person action game rich in combat, imagery and storytelling, delivering lighter-flicking fun sure to melt your face off.

Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black. The ultimate roadie, Eddie is the first person anyone calls when they need guitars tuned or stages rigged, and has a love for hot rods and a photographic memory for every heavy metal album cover, and the lyrics those albums contained. One night, a stage accident knocks Eddie unconscious, and he awakens in a world that looks very strange yet oddly familiar, a world where every heavy metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life, and where the evil emperor Doviculus and his demon army, The Tainted Coil, have enslaved the last remaining humans. When an oppressed people request Eddie's knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he's ever had, a roadie for a heavy metal band, and under his command, this barbaric force of hot-rods, Marshall stacks, leather, and chrome will bring this ancient world into the age of metal.

Possibly Maiden and Metallica were too expensive? Either way, this is still a pretty kick ass selection of songs with some un-expected delights...Slough Feg, Sanctuary, Manowar, Dark Tranquillity, Emperor, Enslaved...these aren`t bands I expect to see on a major computer game soundtrack!!

I've been following Brütal Legend for the longest time and I'm looking forward to it, but the lack of Iron Maiden disturbs me. I hope they have an explanation for it. Perhaps they couldn't get Metallica due to Activision's deal with them with Guitar Hero: Metallica but there shouldn't be any excuse with not having at least one Maiden song.

No Maiden doesn't bother me if I get fucking Slough Feg AND Running Wild along with Brocas Helm.

This game better live up to the hype! I think it will, though

That's a pretty awesome song list, nice to see they've got a mix of the popular/underground bands too. And for the people complaining about no Iron Maiden, it's a game, and the chances are they would have only included a song or two anyway. Is it really that important?

Brutal Legend is going to be the most epic game created! The track list is amazing! and by the way, on the site where this list came from, the words including were used with this list which leads many to believe that this is only a portion of the songs on the game so Maiden's chances are not out completely

Hilarious......... no Iron Maiden but the main character is named Eddie Riggs....... we all know who is Eddie in Heavy Metal and remember that Derek RIGGS has made the Iron Maiden covers until some years ago.

Derek Riggs made the Eddie that we all know.

Fucking well-in for including Coroner, amazing band often overlooked.

Although having Ozzy's likeness as a 'guardian of metal' is pushing it a bit... Does his character try and sue for ownership of the band name every time the Sabbath tracks are played?

Coroner, Brocas Helm, Candlemass, Cloven Hoof, Crimson Glory... VERY out of the ordinary as far as game soundtracks go. And maybe the game will suck ass, who knows, but any game that has "Battle Angels" on it is one I'll be checking out.
