KORN In Recording Mode - Aug. 9, 2009
According to a posting on producer Ross Robinson's Twitter profile, KORN has finished laying down drums for two new songs with Robinson at the helm.

KORN singer Jonathan Davis recently told The Pulse of Radio that the group intends to get back to the sound of its early CDs on the forthcoming album. "It's gonna be very raw, it's gonna be old school like the first KORN records," he said. "Basically, it's gonna be recorded as a four-piece band, with just Munky on guitars and Fieldy [bass] and Ray [Luzier; drums] and me. We really want to go back to that old-school vibe. It was just really intense and emotional and, you know, I have a lot of built-up aggression toward certain things that I need to get out for this record."

Davis said that many of the lyrics on the upcoming album will deal with the topic of organized religion.

Ex-KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch left the band after becoming a born-again Christian, and Fieldy discusses his conversion to Christianity in a memoir that was published in March.

The band will be looking for a home for the yet-to-be-titled disc since completing its two-album deal with Virgin Records in 2007.

A one-minute teaser video for KORN's forthcoming video can be viewed below.

I'm sure they still have plenty of fans, though i'm not one of them - I mean Korn are ok, better than Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park at least.

However, I did like their first album. It wasnt on heavy rotation on player, but it was a nice aggressive album before the whole wave of numetal made me sick of bands like korn.

I thought the first 4 albums were decent. Something happened to the drum sound or production after issues...the post issues albums are horrifyingly terrible to me. Maybe this one won't be too bad

Well, I think I actually liked a lot of their material from their first couple of albums, but maybe it was just a sense of nostalgia, bringing back memories of a simpler time growing up.

But yeah, completely agree with dallaswillis, everything after issues was just beyond bad. Untouchables being the least bad of them. I heard they got a 1 million dollar contract to record their last studio album, I doubt it made more than 10,000 sales in total. The cd cover art work for that was like a chicken thing.

Me thinks head saw a sinking ship and bailed to save some integrity.

But after Follow the Leader, I got bored with the same old bullshit from them. Haven't listened to anything past Issues.

And BTW....they're not Rock or Metal, but Depeche Mode owns!!

COMMENT | Depeche Mode has written more than a few good songs......

I'll give them one last try. If this album blows, I'm done with 'em.

Hope they go back to sounding more like Follow the Leader and Issues, instead of adding in all this (c)rap influence.

I was a mild Korn fan when they first came out... I was also in Middle School/Elementary School... so obviously my judgement wasn't as cynical as it is now. They have not made progress in their sound, they have become boring and tired. Hang up the shoes and try something else.

Korn is kicking ass live lately and have so much energy that they are gonna put into the new album. Its gonna be fucking epic and will shut all you fucking haters up.
If you dont like Korn then why the hell do you people read the news and bother to comment???? Seriously you must be real pathetic if you think that anyone cares what you have to say.
Bands evolve and try new thinks to challenge themselves creativley. If your not willing to evolve with them thats your own fucking fault. Im glad Korn has tried new things with there last few albums because it has separated the true hardcore fans from all the wannabees that just jumped on the bandwagon.

You're damn right man. I saw them live in the end on June and they were AWESOME. Ray Luzier is an incredible drummer, not the typical one you can expect from this band, you must see him, he is plain SPECTACULAR. The sound was perfect and they changed some parts of songs making them heavier. This is a band that is constantly changing without losing their core, and I don't care what haters say.
