AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE Calls It Quits
- Aug. 11, 2009
|
|
Long-running hard-rock/industrial act AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE is hanging up its hat and disbanding. Citing singer Cameron Heacock's "inability to continue on a musical career path," the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based group is changing its name and beginning the audition process for a new vocalist. The non-singing members of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE, who have toured the globe extensively with such bands as SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, MUDVAYNE, and SYSTEM OF A DOWN, see this as an opportunity to finally get the ball rolling. "This is not the kind of news I enjoy being the bearer of, but we've been ready and waiting for input from Cameron for almost two years; we've written and recorded two albums worth of material in that time," says co-founder and bassist Chad Hanks. "At this point, he no longer gives being in this band any sort of top priority, which is so sad seeing as how he has such an amazing and unique voice; I couldn't wait to hear it on these songs. However, we’re looking forward to some new blood; a young, hungry soul that doesn't sound like anyone else and is ready to work his ass off. We're more than eager to get back to the mines. This is what we do." Vocalists can submit EPKs/demos to NewVocalist2009@gmail.com.

Can't say that I'm a huge follower of this band, but I do have their last couple cds....and I really liked 'em. Not that I hadn't heard the same kind of shit from 100 other bands......but there were some cool tunes.
Will check 'em out when they get someone else. As I'm sure Blabbergossip will print every last upcoming detail.

I thought he had a cool voice. Spelling his name wrong gave me a chuckle though.

Best news I've heard today. This band sucks so bad. The first time I saw these clowns open up for Slayer, the keyboard player dude was thrashing around so hard he fell down and (I think) took his keyboard with him. Either way, hilarious shit. I never listened to them again after I saw that. Total joke. I'm surprised Kerry King didn't kick them off that tour like he did KsE. Now, it's time for Chiamara or however you spell it to fuck off. Their last cd sucked cock too. Mid-tempo trash.

To be honest, I'm can't say I'm surprised that this has happened. I don't think they ever fully recovered from the death of Bryan (their guitar player). I love The Feeding and will be checking out The War of Art soon enough.
RIP AHC.

KsE was kicked off the tour? Really? Wow, then who the hell did I see Sat. night in Hartford? Get your facts straight. King tried to throw 'em off, but wasn't able to. I love both these bands but King's ego is a little much.

you sure you should be calling any band weak?
that is like Manson slamming Bret Michaels for being glam.
remember what the pot called the kettle?

Cameron has a great voice, somewhat akin to Mike Patton from Faith No More. Tracks like "The Suspect Song" and "Seamless" really showcased what these guys could have been. They unfortunately steered astray with The Feeding, a decent listen but FAR inferior to The War of Art. Let's hope they find another strong vocalist soon, so that fans can hear some of these "two albums worth of music" soon. It's been way too fucking long.

I am also not surprised, but I really liked this band. They have gone through a bunch of stuff, including one of their guitarist dying. But I'm glad they are changing their name though, smart move.

I've been a Head Charge fan for quite a while and this is pretty sad. I could see it coming, but its still a bummer. Cameron had a fucking great voice, hopefully he continues with music.

To me this is sad I have enjoyed ahc for many years. Cameron isn't a very good live vocalist but was able to make great albums IMO. This is sad but anyone who actually liked this group shouldve been able to see it coming, even before Bryan ottoson died all these guys had drug issues, they met in rehab for Christ sake. If you like to get high and listen to music the feeding is a must listen, and if you don't that your perogative as well. I hope whatever incarnation this ends ups as is decent and soon.

about time! the war of art, had a couple of good songs on it, but it was all one mood, after 3 or 4 songs it got dull so very very quickly. The feeding was a slightly better album i though, purely as there seemed to be a bit of variety. Even so there were still only a few songs on there worth buying it for. Live they were really pretty dull. And a prize collection of asseholes. guess they are gonna change their name in the hope that people might actually pay them some attention. When that doesn't work out for em i guess they are gonna try the reforming bandwagon

You sound like a complete douche bag. Anyway, I do agree that while Martin wasnt a great live singer, he more than had the chops as far as writing, composing, and recording. For every REAL band like these guys that get overlooked, 20 get signed. Good, you can have your mass produced crap. Not everyone thinks that to be great, you must hit every note. Most people forget about SOUL and HEART. To the rest of AHC....good luck. To Martin...are you happy NOW?
