ALICE IN CHAINS: 'Black Gives Way To Blue' Artwork Unveiled
- Aug. 12, 2009
|
|
The cover artwork for "Black Gives Way To Blue", the highly anticipated new album from ALICE IN CHAINS, can be viewed below. "Black Gives Way To Blue" is ALICE IN CHAINS' first new studio release in more than 10 years. The quartet (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez and guitarist/vocalist William DuVall) recorded the album with producer Nick Raskulinecz ( RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS) at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and Henson Studios in Hollywood. The track listing for the CD is as follows: 01. All Secrets Known02. Check My Brain03. Last Of My Kind04. Your Decision05. A Looking In View06. When The Sun Rose Again07. Acid Bubble08. Lessons Learned09. Take Her Out10. Private Hell11. Black Gives Way To BlueA 30-second audio sample of "Check My Brain" — the first single from "Black Gives Way To Blue" — can be streamed at Amazon.com. It is also available in the YouTube clip below. ALICE IN CHAINS has tapped U2 and WHITE STRIPES video director Alex Courtes to shoot a clip for "Check My Brain". Among the many highlights on "Black Gives Way To Blue" is a special guest performance by Elton John. The two rock legends collaborated on the album's stunning title track, "Black Gives Way To Blue", a heart-stirring tribute to ALICE IN CHAINS' late lead singer Layne Staley. The album arrives in stores September 29. Fans and members of the press heard "Black Gives Way To Blue" in its entirety at a private listening party in Los Angeles on July 14, followed by a three-song acoustic set by the band in which it debuted two songs from the album live — the title track and "Your Decision". On August 22, band will join TOOL and LINKIN PARK for the first-ever Epicenter show at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, to be followed by a headlining tour set to kick off September 4 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

Saw these guys at Rock on the Range in May, saw them again last month in Detroit, and seeing them next month in Dayton. I don't think I've ever been more excited for a CD release ever. This shit is going to be a classic!

"we want Alice in Chains" articles on every first page. at least one, but more than that will get you more bonuses. put that shit on an auto-timer if you have to. when one drops to the 2nd page, there'd better be a new one popping up on the 1st."

can't wait for the album, i'll be a first day buyer, the artwork kinda sucks, but who cares? it really doesn't matter, most jerkoffs will illegally download it anyway. if you want cool album artwork go pickup the new clutch or mastodon albums.

The artwork is pretty generic and, like posters above me, I miss those great covers we had in the past. Most bands have merch looking better than their album covers these days... weird.

pre-ordered on vinyl via Amazon, YES! I guess I like the artwork (there are a lot worse out there,) kind of suggestive. This is torture, wait until sep. 29, what else can we do? Listen to their previous albums, on vinyl too, oh that's a sweet thing to do in the meanwhile! I've been listening also Boggy Depot; nice work! Countdown......

Always first with news about AIC and many other bands.
I like the heart but I would also prefer the classic "AIC" font like the one used on their new singles.

Well I'm surprised you guys are making a big deal over the cover art. Their artwork hasn't been anything special in the past. Sure they're pretty cool, but so is this one. Did you want them to pull off some Ed Repka shit? I think this cover is pretty cool. I really like the blue they used. It reminds me of Gojiras cover 'The Way Of All Flesh'.

on the artwork.
Im starting to hope that the album will live up to 3 months worth of hype. I know it's AIC, but these days I am disappointed more often than not.
Either way, I respect these guys enough to buy the album instead of downloading.

The funny thing is that when Jerry Cantrell released Boggy Depot he said the same thing about album artwork!
Either way, if what we've heard is any indication, this album will rule.

i'm thinking maybe the heart symbolizes that layne still lives on through their music or something. basically a very proud tribute in my eyes, this album will OWN big time!
what i'm curious about is that on wikipedia it says that the album has been leaked but i can't find it anywhere, so i was wondering if anyone else knows more than me? not that this will keep me from getting the actual album, i thank and give much respect to these guys. i'm just so excited, that's all :]

Dude...chill. Dissin Jerry is one thing, but Layne's mom?! What the hell is wrong with you. She lost her son! Do you have kids, do you know the bond between a parent and a child! She went through the absolute worst thing you can put a parent through and your going to claim that she is makin' a cash grab. If you have pent up anger issues, seek professional help, don't rant on someone who you never met and have no real knowledge of. As a parent I find your words to be hurtful and ignorant.
Also I like the artwork, I like simplicity. I'm sure they put the logo and font inside thier somewhere. I think whoever said this may be one of Layne's drawings might be on to something.
Spread the love people, let go of the hate.
