DEVIN TOWNSEND: New Audio Interview Posted Online - Aug. 14, 2009
The latest episode of "Talking Metal" contains an interview hosts Mark Strigl and John Ostronomy conducted with Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STEVE VAI, LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR, GWAR). During the chat, Townsend contemplates his musical future and addresses topics including DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT's "Ki", "Addicted" and "Deconstruction" albums, touring, playing metal, and ENYA. "Over the past four years, I have quit doing drugs, had a kid, and cut the stinky hair off," Townsend tells "Talking Metal". He also reveals that the "Addicted" album is finished and that he wants "hundreds of people to play on the 'Deconstruction' album."

The episode, which also include an interview with THE FLOOD's Chris Johnson, can be downloaded at www.talkingmetal.com.

"Coast", the new video from the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Konrad Palkeiwcz. The song comes off "Ki", the first in a series of albums from Devin Townsend to be made available under the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT moniker, which was released in Europe on May 25 and in North America on June 16 via InsideOut Music. The CD sold around 800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It landed at position No. 69 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Not a big strapping fan or any of his other heavier stuff, but Ki is a keeper. Solid album.

The video above sounds great, but does anyone else notice that it's kinda reminiscent of newer A-Ha stuff?
