THEM CROOKED VULTURES To Play Amsterdam This Wednesday - Aug. 16, 2009
THEM CROOKED VULTURES, the new supergroup consisting of FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE singer/guitarist Josh Homme and LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones, will perform at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, Holland on Wednesday, August 19.

Tickets will be sold exclusively at the Melkweg box office beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18. To prevent scalping, there is a limit of one ticket per customer, and a photo ID is necessary for the purchase. The ticket and wristband issued at the point of sale must be brought back to the venue the following day for entry to the concert. Tickets are nontransferable.

The concert is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Doors to the show open at 7 p.m. Cameras and recording devices are prohibited.

An audio sample of the THEM CROOKED VULTURES song entitled "Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I" is available for streaming in the YouTube clip below.

The band made its live debut on August 9 at the Metro club in Chicago, shortly after Lollapalooza closed its third and final day at nearby Grant Park. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the trio performed a 75-minute, 12-song set for 1,100 people, with Homme singing lead, Grohl on drums and backing vocals, and Jones shifting between bass, keyboards and even keytar. QUEENS multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes provided extra support on guitar.

Other songtitles included opener "Elephants", "Scumbag Blues", "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)", "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes".

Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot wrote: "The group made it very clear that it's not only for real, but also has the chance to be the exception to the super-group rule. Most of these Frankenstein projects usually end up being less than the sum of their parts, but CROOKED VULTURES sounded like it was on to something fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty."

THEM CROOKED VULTURES, which has been in the works for four years, will release an album and hit the road sometime later this year, but official details have yet to be announced. So far all the band has done is put up a web site as well as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and YouTube pages.

this is going to start a shitstorm if they are going to do some kind of zeppelin revival.

sounds great and i cant wait to really hear more than 4 seconds but damn it sounds like a zep track.

fuck yeah, homme is a great song writer so is JPJ and grohl is amazing on drums.
dave is right where he needs to be cuz the guy plays like no other.

as a front man i could care less.
but get him behind a kit and the soundscape changes.
just listen to him on 'songs for the deaf'.
any other drummer couldnt get the vibe that he brought to that record.

this is really a supergroup....lets just hope it pans out better than the others that have popped up over the years.
