BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH: 'Most Of The KORN Fans Don't Want Nothing To Do With What I'm Doing' - Aug. 17, 2009
Rockerrazzi.com recently conducted an interview with former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. Watch the five-minute chat below.

Welch is set to launch the second leg of his first-ever solo U.S. tour in support of his debut album, "Save Me From Myself", which was released in September 2008 on his Driven Music Group label.

With a new band at his side — Scott Von Heldt (guitar), Ralph Patlan (guitar), Michael Valentine (bass), Dan Johnson (drums), Brian Ruedy (keyboards, programming) — Head will embark on another round of dates starting August 14 in Los Angeles, including a free concert in Las Vegas on August 29 at the 20,000-seat Thomas & Mack Arena along with FLYLEAF, BLINDSIDE and others.

"The first leg of the tour a couple months ago was a great warm-up tour," says Head. "Now we're ready to kick it up a notch. We're coming into my neck of the woods with this West Coast leg and I'm expecting to see a great turnout and a lot of energy at the shows!"

"Save Me From Myself", sold 7,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 63 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released through Driven Music Group (distribution by Ryko/Warner Music Group), the label Welch co-founded with music execs Greg Shanaberger and Mark Nawara.

"Save Me From Myself" was produced by Head, who recorded the music off and on for the past two years in Phoenix, Arizona. It features renowned musicians Tony Levin (PETER GABRIEL, DAVID BOWIE) and Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS), and was mixed by Ralph Patlan and Bob Clearmountain. It's a testimony of Head's life as he battled with drug addiction and leaving KORN, and finding spirituality.

He didn't got linked with god, he just reverted back to himself and realized he was lost in this rock thing. He just opened the door for himself to change and did it.

No gods, no masters: just believe in yourself!

Personally, I like the direction SMFM is going. It will be cool to hear what the second cd is like esp if he uses some of his road band to write and record it. They are very good live. Keep it up Brian!!

Just like any movement, there are wackos abound. Christianity is nothing mroe than a simple belief in Jesus and trying to do your best to not fuck up your life. I have Head's beliefs and I NEVER push them on anyone.

I have to answer for my own actions so who the hell am I to say you can;t do this or that???? The right wing crazies give my creed a bad name. God loves everyone, is there for everyone and who the hell are we to say you cant have an abortion, drink, smoke weed, swear, whatever? Live your life to your OWN convictions and show some brotherly love...not to your friends but to your enemies.

Peace.

So by that logic, according to Luke 19:27, Jesus is loving his enemies by killing them?

Luke 19:26 says:
“‘Yes,’ THE KING replied, ‘and to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.""

Note that the king, not Jesus, is said what was in 19:27. Jesus was just telling the story.

As for Head, the subject matter on which he is writing isn't nearly as important to me as the actual music. I though SMFM was a good album.

Funny how some of you scold this man's beliefs without hesitation, yet expect others to march verbatim in YOUR OWN footsteps when it comes to music.

What happened to "thinking for yourself"? Oh, that's only when it involves something YOU personally do not participate in.

Right?

Hypocritical elitist pricks. And being such about entertainment, too.

This guy hasn't been a participating member of Korn for years now. Yet all he can talk about was how his life was going to shit, and he immediately found God and left the band.

That's great. Drugs suck, and you don't do them anymore. Now stop sounding stoned and use proper English.

Arrogant/ignorant fans in music. The majority of people on this website who bash religion are outcasts and unpopular "tools" who are brainwashed by the lyrics of the repetative cookiemonster music. They feel the need to attack anything they don't agree with or aren't intelligent enough to understand because they lock themselves in their basements, headbanging and playing air guitar infront of their comuters waiting for their World of Warcraft to load so they can beat people up in a computer game...

It has stories about love, friendship, life and death, and sacrificing your life for the greater good...

So does Lord of the Rings, I like that one too. Perhaps a bit better than the bible...

I don't get religious people, but as long as they keep their religions to themselves and don't hurt anybody, I've got no problem with them...

Luke 19:27
To the person “Traumor" that posted only this part of the verse (Luke 19:27)…
People like you are such a problem in this world.

You take one little verse and take it out of context.
There are 48 verses in Luke 19…not just the ONE you chose to post to manipulate people with.
The JESUS was not stating to execute enemies.
If you read the entire section you’ll EASILY see he starts Luke 19 and tells a story about a king.
Throughout the Bible JESUS told stories and parables for different reasons.

Taking one little verse and throwing it out there (out of context) is wrong, misleading, and a little sad of you.

***** I’ll pray for you “Traumor”…even if you don’t want me to.

A little angry are we?
You sound like a sad little man…

Mankind is the reason for most of the bad crap that goes on in the world not GOD.
GOD created everything.
Mankind tends to screw up anything we touch.
We have a sin nature.

That’s why he gave us Grace.
He knows we’re not ever going to be perfect.
From time to time we will screw up.
Because of GOD’s Grace we’re saved (even though we don’t deserve it).

Don’t blame GOD for things that mankind does or causes – “genocides, persecutions,HATE, intolerance, inquisitions , indiguenous massive murdering”.
That’s OUR fault.

why people just can't respect each others beliefs and just be done with it. No one's opinion of God or religion is going to be changed by completely bashing someone's opinion on the matter. In my opinion, it's not God that causes genocide, hate, and intolerance. It's the institution of religion and its figure heads that have done that. That being said, I won't fall into the snare of stereotypes that many of the users on this site, on both sides of the issue, have fallen into. People have brain. Thusly, I will allow them to use them rather than force my opinion onto them.
