OZZY OSBOURNE's New Band Rehearses With 9-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy: Video Available
- Aug. 22, 2009
|
|
Video footage of nine-year-old guitar prodigy Yuto Miyazawa rehearsing with OZZY OSBOURNE and his new band on Thursday, August 20 can be viewed below. Miyazawa will join Ozzy and the rest of his current group — guitarist Gus G. ( FIREWIND), drummer Tommy Clufetos ( ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER, TED NUGENT), bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (bass; ROB ZOMBIE) and Adam Wakeman (keyboards) — at the closing concert of this year's BlizzCon on Saturday, August 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California to perform the Osbourne classic "Crazy Train". OZZY OSBOURNE issued a statement on Friday (August 21) confirming reports that longtime Osbourne musicians Zakk Wylde (guitar) and Mike Bordin (drums) would not be joining him for the BlizzCon performance due to their current touring commitments with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and FAITH NO MORE, respectively. In addition to his current axe-slinging duties with FIREWIND, Gus (real name: Kostas Karamitroudis) has played in MYSTIC PROPHECY, NIGHTRAGE, ARCH ENEMY and DREAM EVIL. Miyazawa performed "Crazy Train" on the May 11, 2009 episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". Yuto was then surprised when Ozzy himself was brought out to meet the boy. Born February 21, 2000 in Tokyo, Japan, Yuto Miyazawa has been playing guitar since the ripe age of three. Although he has had a few guitar lessons, the bulk of his expertise comes from truly wanting to play… all the time. Generally, if he is not in school, he has a guitar in his hands. That love of guitar is quickly making Yuto the Internet's latest addiction, as his videos rack up views on YouTube and Vimeo, and his name is scattered across hundreds of forums and blogs. Yuto's influences are fairly apparent, as he usually seen playing his custom Randy Rhoads-style, polka dot flying V guitar, which dwarfs him. Along with Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads, Yuto is influenced by Eric Clapton, KISS and METALLICA. After playing multiple variety shows in Japan, Yuto made his first trip to the States in May 2008 when he played with a few big names at various clubs in Manhattan. In his short stint in the U.S. Yuto was a hot commodity. He played with Les Paul at The Iridium, two nights later he hopped onstage with GE Smith and Moonalice at Rebel, and finally he headed over to B.B King Blues Club & Grill to play with GALACTIC. Yuto is now recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's youngest professional guitar player. (Thanks: Outre Tombe Frédéric MAUJOIN)

Man, it looks like Gus has already found his place in the Ozzy band - off to the side, outside the lighting, where he can take no attention away from Ozzy. Sad really, he's too good a player for that. But who knows, it has worked for other great players that pushed their talent aside to make a fat check and gain a worldwide name! Steve Vai comes to mind immediately!

That was cool. My 10 year-old bashes the drums like John Bonham....so it's cool to see kids rock!
And to the poster above - WTF?? Gus was off in the corner because that was Yuto's stage for that performance. I've seen Ozzy with all his guitarists and none of them were 'in the corner out of the spotilight' - even the greatness of Jake E Lee. I hate all the negative BS all the time....

I must admit that I thought that was pretty cool...it was cute on Ellen, but to be able to play with Ozzy and his band of pros in a real context is priceless for this kid....
He didn't even get thrown off by them having to down tune his guitar....

The kid has talent, although he looked like a deer frozen in a Mac trucks headlights. Hey Gus, why dont you have any stage presence? Where is the energy? Are not in your 20's? All you do is stand still. You are supposed to move around at least a little. Come on dude you can play but you are not kicking any ass on that stage, or any stage. I have seen your videos, even when you got to play with the Scorpions you just stood there. I guess the madman, axe slinging, days are over for good. Come on dude go Crazy! At least Blasko and Tommy still kick ass. YAWN! ZZZzzzzzzzzzz.........

Ill give you the spittin thing, I have had to dodge a couple spit bombs over the years. What I am talking about is no energy. Zakk has lost his, compared to when he first started playing with Ozzy. He is gettig old. I find alot of these new young guitar players just stand still and stare down at there guitar neck. Its like they have to concentrate on not messing up. Yeah he sounds great, but when I see a show I want the band to kick some ass on stage. Drums getting smashed, bass player getting whip lash, and the guitar player Fuckin MOVE!

Ozzy keeps the 9 year old to replace Zakk.
Gus is a great player. I guess I just don't understand why Ozzy going through any changes right now. Really what does he really have left in the music industry to prove or how long is he really going to be around touring. I mean maybe the next 3 year to 5 years at the longest.

Besides, as a few stated above, this is the song to spotlight Yuto.

This was not a REAL Gus G. show, at least for the song: the boy was the MAIN character and Gus was wise enough so as to stand aside and give the spotlight to the kid. Without him we'll see how it works, but in the first place I welcome the replacement, I was tired of Zakk and I like the new image of the band as a whole.

The genius of Ozzy is always that he's been this total fucking idiot who is surrounded by brilliant muscians he can USE until he's done with them. Ozzy: "My music is starting to sound like Black Label Society" THATS BECAUSE ITS NOT YOUR MUSIC. It should sound like Zakk's music... he's the one writing it. Your next album will sound like Guss G, or some little asian kid.

that kid is far from a guitar prodigy... you guys are fucking silly. there are vids of kids the same age as him flying through pagnani on violin or destroying mozart on piano., doing drum solos that would make portnoy gag on his drink. more importantly, i've seen vids of kids the same age playing paul gilbert/racer x tunes effortlessly. those are child prodigies.
not that the kid is terrible, just kinda alright. like he might win a talent show or something. also, this sounds great, but you have to remember that you're also hearing Gus G playing overtop of everything this kid is playing. not to sound like a guitar slob, but when i saw his older video of him playing this it didn't sound all that great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfStLKVUrCQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzAQT2_ajTc
and last but not least, the kid that'd probably make paul gilbert reivaluate his choice of instrument. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok3EjsCmIu0
like i said, big difference between a kid that can play guitar and an actual virtuoso.

Fuck off mate, seriously, just fuck right off. This kid is amazing, and it's clear from other vids that this is a dream come true for him. Don't spoil something so awesome.
Did it ever enter your thick head that maybe, just maybe, this is a rare example of something that doesn't need to be taken cynically? That maybe he got into guitar very young and just loves playing? Or is the idea of enjoying something just too alien to you.
