GEORGE LYNCH Says LYNCH MOB Is In Talks To Tour With DOKKEN - Aug. 26, 2009
Kevin "Taz" Conklin of "The Big Dumb Radio Show" (web site), which airs on Kalamazoo, Michigan's 92.5 WZUU FM radio station, recently conducted an interview with legendary guitarist George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB, SOULS OF WE). The chat is now available for streaming in the YouTube clip below.

When asked about a possible LYNCH MOB tour in support of the band's comeback studio album, entitled "Smoke And Mirrors", Lynch said, "I'm talking a little preemptively here, but one of the things on the table is a potential DOKKEN-LYNCH MOB tour — kind of like that WWF spectacle where you come out with all that history and get people talking, and that's always good. And we'll play some DOKKEN songs as well in our set. And they're welcome to play some LYNCH MOB songs, but that's not gonna happen... I'm kidding."

Regarding whether he would make an appearance on stage with his former DOKKEN bandmates if LYNCH MOB were to tour with DOKKEN, Lynch said, "Absolutely. That's be part of the deal. I'd come out at the end and we'd have a little reunion, and it'd be awesome. Me and Don [Dokken] could come out, make out for a while, and then we'd dive into a couple of old DOKKEN songs for old times' sake."

Audio samples of all 13 songs that appear on "Smoke And Mirrors" are available for download at HeavyHarmonies.com (scroll down). The CD is scheduled for release in Europe on September 18 (October 13 in the U.S.) via Frontiers Records.

LYNCH MOB was formed by George Lynch, one of the few genuine guitar heroes of substance to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, after DOKKEN split up in 1989. The band's first album, "Wicked Sensation", went on to sell over 500,000 units in the U.S. and featured the talents of singer Oni Logan, Anthony Esposito on bass and another former DOKKEN member Mick Brown on drums. After a tour in support of QUEENSRŸCHE, Logan opted out, with Robert Mason taking his place on the follow-up self-titled release. However, Lynch and Brown eventually returned to DOKKEN, releasing two studio albums until he left again in late 1997 putting together a several new incarnations of LYNCH MOB and exploring new sounds with different projects.

LYNCH MOB's current lineup includes Logan and Lynch alongside bassist Marco Mendoza (WHITESNAKE, THIN LIZZY) and drummer Scot Coogan (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, ACE FREHLEY).

I'd love to see it, however Don is washed up vocally, and that was 10 years ago on Erase the Slate tour. I'll go if it's at the Chicago HOB.

I saw Don last summer, and vocally he still has it.

It makes sense. Let Lynch have his band (and bus) and set, then Don has his band (and bus) and set. That way, they just have to see each other for 20 minutes a night at the end of the show. That should keep them from throwing punches for at least half the tour!

Now, if only they could get Jeff Pilson on board, it would be perfect.

Still has the voice. I seen him with Queensryche back in 2008 when Don did that acoustic show - tour. He nailed ever note and was spot on. Hope Lynch and his band go out and tour with Dokken. I'd go and check it out.

Never cared for Lynch Mob at all, but it definitely looks like a step to put George Lynch back in Dokken. If we can get Jeff Pilson in there, that would be the REAL icing on the cake. George and Jeff are on good terms, so that may happen.

As an old time Dokken fan, I'd like to see one last album out of Don, George, Jeff and Mick before they all ride off into the sunset. Lightning Strikes Again was a really awesome album (best one since Erase the Slate and definitely the most classic sounding Dokken album since, hell, Back for the Attack) and proves that Don can still do it.

As far as live...Don has his good nights and he has his bad. I've seen him where he hits everything and sounds great...I've also seen him where he's horrible and hits nothing...that is what it is.

Hope this pans out. CALL JEFF! He can't be all THAT busy with Foreigner, for shits sake...

I have seen Dokken 6 times the past 2 years, they band still kicks ass. Don definitely has his off nights and he needs to quit smoking and drinking ASAP, but the band still has something to offer. I'd love to see a Lynch Mob/ Dokken tour!

aside from mr.scary why do lynch mob need to do dokken songs?is thier material so weak they have to prop it up by singing his old bands songs?personaly I like the new version of dokken and don't miss all the drama between don and george.we know you can't stand each other so just keep going your separate ways.saw them in a club when they first got back together and while they were good george played with his back to the audience most of the night.

This is GREAT news for the Guitar Driven Rock Metal Heads out there.

B metal at it's best. Instantly forgettable. Hardly the "classic" people are making it out to be. Sold like shit. "Up from the Ashes" was FAR, FAR better.

"why do lynch mob need to do dokken songs?is thier material so weak they have to prop it up by singing his old bands songs?"

- In a word? Yes. Although it shames me to say it, I caught Lynch Mob, oh, 6 or 7 times on their Wicked Sensation tour. I very much disliked the album itself and hated having to sit through their shows...I wasn't alone, trust me; the fans were so totally disinterested in the new material, I actually felt bad for George, because I honestly wanted to see him succeed with a new band after Dokken split, I really did.

I can tell you FOR SURE, though, that the only time the audiences really seemed to get into it was when George would play Mr. Scary. They were polite enough otherwise, but hardly anybody was actually INTO it.
