HEAVEN & HELL Is Not Breaking Up, Says DIO's Management - Aug. 27, 2009
The management for legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, DIO) has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"[We] just want to quash any rumors that HEAVEN & HELL have broken up. [HEAVEN & HELL guitarist] Tony Iommi has to have surgery on his hand and [needs] some down time for recovery. Therefore DIO will be performing some dates in the U.K. and Europe in November/December during this time off. HEAVEN & HELL are already making plans for dates next year."

In a recent interview with The Aquarian Weekly, Iommi stated about his upcoming surgery, "I've got to have an operation on my hand, and that's sort of a major thing I need to get done and I've been putting it off now. So we're going to have some time off while I get that done. That'll be a bit of a break, I think. Not for everybody, but it'll be some time off from touring for me for sure."

When asked what happened to his hand, Iommi replied, "The cartilage is gone from the thumb in my fingering hand. It's been like that now, to be honest, for a year and I've been taking anti-inflammatories and all sorts of stuff to try and calm it down, but it's inevitable I've got to have the operation because the bone is rubbing on the bone. Funny enough, I talked to Eddie Van Halen this morning, because he's had the same sort of problem, so I'm seeing him to have a chat about what happened to him. He thinks it's very successful, so we'll see."

Unofficial BLACK SABBATH web site Black-Sabbath.com has uploaded the cover artwork (see below) for HEAVEN & HELL's "Follow The Tears" single. It features two versions of the title track — a "radio edit" and "album version". The running times vary significantly. The "radio edit" is just 3:43, whereas the standard version is 6:10. The inside of the jewel case paper insert has U.S. tour dates on it, with no additional artwork. There will be no video filmed for the single and it won't be available at retail.

"Follow The Tears" is the second single (following "Bible Black") from the group's new album, "The Devil You Know", which has sold more than 70,000 copies since its April 28 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It debuted at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 30,000 units.

HEAVEN & HELL's June 16, 2009 concert at Museumsmeile in Bonn, Germany was professionally filmed by WDR's (German public TV) series "Rockpalast" and was premiered on July 13. Watch the "Follow The Tears" performance below.

HEAVEN & HELL was forced to cancel its June 21 appearance at the Metalway Festival in Zaragoza, Spain due to back pain suffered by Iommi.

If you thought they were splitting or having any kind of issue, you might want to check in a Mental Hospital.

There isn't a more consistent heavy metal band out there. You can always count on these guys to put out great material and to back it up with a kickass live show.

I was pissed when they broke up after Dehumanizer, so this recent reunion is a dream come true for me

there are all these stories that Tony Iommi has to have surgery and needs some recovery time afterwards, and then an announcement that Dio is going to do some dates with his band? Makes perfect sense. Geezer will probably do something too? I guess these guys' history together makes things suspect, but this is silly...

I think any rumor that might have started would have come from Tony Iommi saying he's thinking about playing Ozzy-era Sabbath material next year, and then the next day, Dio announces a solo tour.

This tyoe of rumors are made up by the classical retards as the first poser/poster on the DIO UK tour thread. Its a type of people that have that "instant answer" for every news.

- Hey do you know Led Zeppelin could be touring aga...
- Greed
- ...in?

- Hey did you know Slash is releasing a new reco...
- He needs the money
- ...rd?

- Wow, DIO is gonna play the U...
- Heaven and Hell are breaking up
- ...K?

I would kill those bastards with my own hands. Specially because they always have no fucking clue about anything at all and don't even think what they say. I think I even hate them more because their nonsensical bullshit. Did any intelligent human being on this planet thought for just a second that if LED ZEPPELIN would reunite was gonna be FOR THE MONEY?

Anyway......

I can't wait for them to continue the tour next year.

Heaven and Hell releases a great album of new music and does a great tour.

Ozzy plays one predictable 45 minute set at a video game convention.

I'll never miss an Ozzy show as long as I live but there's a big difference between good and great. H&H are just so far ahead of any other metal band out there.

fugazi speaks nothing but the truth...nothing fanatical about them. Before Tony called Dio up and said, "hey wanna do this?" Dio was playing in clubs to 300 people, not amphitheatres of 5000-7000. Had absolutely nothing to do with Dio's choice and everything to do with his lack of relevancy in today's metal world. Once H&H do finally fold (lord knows when) he'll be back playing the same shitty venues in front of the same shitty crowds.

Dio kind of ran out of gas. So what, the guy is pushing 70 and had a pretty amazing career and stayed true to himself all along the way. Longevity like that is rare in the entertainment business. He proved he could be successful with Rainbow, then again with Sabbath and yet again with his own band.

I remember seeing Sabbath in the 90's at a 2000 capacity theater and there were a lot of empty seats. Everyones career fades at some time or another. Sabbath owes a lot to Dio for the success of these tours as much as he owes them.
