Ex-WARRANT Singer JANI LANE Performs In Hollywood; Video Available - Aug. 30, 2009
Video footage of former WARRANT singer Jani Lane's August 28, 2009 performance at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California can be viewed below (courtesy of Christy Borgman). Backing Jani at the concert were Jimmy D'Anda (BULLETBOYS) on drums, Kevin Baldes (LIT) on bass and Brent Woods (VINCE NEIL, WILDSIDE) on guitar, among others.

Lane will spend two mandatory days in jail after pleading no contest last month to one count of misdemeanor DUI stemming from an incident where he hit a parked car back in June, according to TMZ.com.

As part of Jani's plea deal — in which authorities agreed to drop a hit-and-run charge — Lane will serve 36 months probation, complete three months in alcohol education classes and report for 30 days of Caltrans road work. He also has to pay more than $395 in fines.

If Jani chooses not to pay the fines, he will have to serve 13 additional days in jail instead.

The 45-year-old singer was busted on June 17 when he allegedly hit a parked car in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. Lane refused to take a sobriety test.

When asked in a May 18, 2009 interview with "The Johnny Dare Morning Show" how he managed to "get straight," Jani replied, "It's just a matter of deciding you're done, in my opinion. I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really, really and truly you have to go, 'You know what? I'm done with this. I don't like feeling like this, I don't like living like this.' And it's also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you're unconscious."

Lane originally left WARRANT in 2002 to pursue a solo career. He released a solo album, "Back Down to One", in 2003, but shortly after was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. He also appeared on VH1's reality series "Celebrity Fit Club".

WARRANT announced in September 2008 that it was splitting with Jani Lane six months after the band first reunited with the troubled vocalist. He has since been replaced by Robert Mason (LYNCH MOB, CRY OF LOVE, BIG COCK).

I lost all respect for this guy. Can't listen to Warrant or his solo CD anymore, especially Born Again. Maybe they'll convince me with this new lead singer. As for Jani, get your shit together.

Jani will have to do a lot of convincing to a former fan like myself that he has grown up and cleaned up. Until then...

It's one thing to be Jani Lane. As bad as he's f-ed up his career, there is no denying that he wrote these songs, they were huge at a time, and he deserves any reward that comes from performing them...regardless of his proven ability to continuously implode.

The guys you have to feel for though are Jimmy D'Anda, Kevin Blades and Brent Woods. I mean, there had to be a time that these guys thought they were going to be big rock stars in the Joe Perry, Neil Peart, Eddie Van Halen way. And now, even though they really haven't done anything wrong or embarrassing, they are reduced to being the nameless backing band for the most inconsistent guy in rock music. Wow...that's really got to hurt.

I have seen him live about a half dozen times. He sounded great during most of those shows. I'll admit, he's an idiot, but a hell of a songwriter. Who cares if he's fat and ugly now? All his female fans are fat (that I saw at those shows) and a bit weathered now as well!

I was never a warrant fan,but i didnt hate them either this stuff sounds really good especially considering everthing he has put his body and voice through and having jimmy on drums is a bonus bulletboys rock i know it aint the same as 87/88 but i am going to check them out on sept 25 in the L.A. area

I lol'd at that comment.

I'm not a Warrant fan although some of my friends are, but seriously dude, go back to that band. It's pitiful reading about these "feuds" between has beens, you did your best stuff with them so go make some money with them and pay off your fines. You might actually headline a state fair or two.

COMMENT | Maybe he is clean again.

It's nice to see him actually singing the songs, especially the ballads, with a bit of respect again. I remember seeing him perform once, and he did "Heaven" in about 90 seconds, just rushing through it and singing way too fast for anyone to enjoy it.

He's gone back and forth so many times, I'd be lying if I said I expect it to last. Hope I'm wrong.

It's sad that we get surprised when someone sounds good live. The ugly reality is that most rock singers don't. Jani can still bring it live. It's a shame Warrant had to move on without him, but he blew that chance more than once with the booze. But he's still the voice of Warrant. I'm rooting for Jani to keep it clean and sober.
