One of the best guitar players of all time. Saw MSG this year and they were awesome, Michael's playing never sounded better. He was on fire and looked healthy at that is a good thing.

Apparently you never heard Michael play. If you had you would realize just how ignorant your comment makes you seem to be. The name makes sense though. long in the tooth but short in the brain department. If you want more proof listen to any song on Strangers in the Night.

Man the first guy doesn't a have a clue. This guy is the best guitar player in the world!! You can ask any professional guitarist and they'll all name Michael Schenker a major influence. He is metal, all you need to do is listen to "Another Piece of Meat" or "On and On". The first poster needs to learn or be schooled!!!

Seriously if you don't think Michael Schenker is a great guitar player, you need to be taken to a guitar re-education camp, preferably Russia or China.

for Michael: Why are you such a psycho?
The guy can play and he is a legend but he far from a genius. Looking forward to more cancellations in the future.

Hey, long in the tooth, what´s wrong with you?? First, you call old school Nirvana?? Smashing Pumpkins?? Cmon, gimme a break! I´ve just seen his band on July, the man is a freaking God on the guitar! Did you know Randy Rhoads said, right before his death, that the mad axeman was the best guitar player? Did you know Slash listens to him, in order to improve his technique? And that Iron Maiden plays Doctor Doctor right before their concert begins every time, cos they are huge fans of UFO? And Kirk Hammet is a huge fan of his work, as well as Warren Demartini, and so many others? Here´s two tips for you: go to dinosaur rock guitar dot com, then click on guitar alchemy, and look for Michael´s career. You´ll surely be surprised on how great this guy is. Tip two: you mentioned Ozzy Osbourne among your preferences... He tried to hire Schenker, but he couldn´t, but you probably don´t know that. Learn rock history! Uh, and by the way, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Deep Purple and Whitesnake also invited Schenker to be a member, but he refused to follow only his inspiration, and I thank the Lord everyday for that decision when I listen to his stuff, old and new. Get a life, man!

You really need to get a clue since, in your post you named off nothing but flavors of the month, in that they are all what the average person on the street would spew when asked about what heavy bands they listen to, oh & for the record Ozzy has never really been a "Metal" artist outside of Sabbath, what he does is the same style your finding fault in Schenker for, also the only band you mentioned that was metal was Sabbath, this again shows just how far removed & clueless you are. Now lets look at the guitarists that are in or have been in the "Metal" bands/artists you named,
Ozzy; Randy Rhoads, Brad Gillis, Jake E. Lee, Zakk Wylde Nirvana; Kurt Cobain Smashing Pumpkins; James Iha, Billy Corgan Screaming Trees; Gary Lee Conner Black Sabbath; Tony Iommi
Again the only true metal player in the bunch is Iommi, & at his roots he is a blues player. You really need a lesson in what heavy music is & where its roots lie.

Your mama's calling kid...
Seriously, I'm getting tired of these a**holes and their "metal attitude" or whatever.
It's a waste of time discuss anything with these mongoloids.
Michael is a legend. No more to say.

long in the tooth is a fucking moron! There I said it. For someone to call Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, or Screaming Trees old is retarded. Really, how fucking stupid is this kid. Thank God the people on this site have taken this little punk to task for his stupidity.
MSG's Assault Attack is one of the most refined pieces of metal history ever. Desert Song and Samauri are just superb songs.
Hey long in the tooth, go listen to Lamb of God you stupid fuck! Sorry to hate on Lamb of God but this jerk off probably loves the Cookie Monster shit that pervades metal these days.

Schenkr was the shit. I saw him back in the UFO days and solo days early on and he was amazing. But that video from a year or so back sounded like someone super glued all his fingers together or he had mittens on when he was playing...please tell me it was drugs or something reversable.

How about dickface or douchnugget? Really boy, you have no credibility. Yes, Mike not be your cup of tea but he is without a doubt one of the finest guitar players in the world (when he is sober). And who is this Tommy Ionni fella are you refering to cocksmoker? Do you mean the Godfather of all that is metal Tony Iommi ? Really, go play with your GI Joes.

wrote some of the greatest riffs of all time as well as the greatest guitar solo's of ALL time. I haven't however been impressed by his recent output. But yes he's legend and deserves to be in the guitar hall of fame.
He looks healthy,that's good.
Long in the tooth is an idiot,he shouldn't even justify a response.

Seriously comparing smashing pumpkins with schenker is blasphemy. Where are your fucking smashing pumpkins now? Dinosaurrockguitar.com basically says that Sykes and Schenker are the best overall players of our time. I saw schenker recently and he was God. Same as 1981 when he was ripping through lost horizons. So all you douchebag wannabe metal listeners go back and review the roots of metal. Schenker is back with a vengeance, thats all i have to say.

Referencing Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Screaming Trees as being metal is totally hilarious. Moreover, I am guessing longinthetooth is a little kid who listens to trendy flash in the pan bands and so his opinions should be considered to be irrelevant.
Last, I saw Schenker in July and he was outstanding.

Long in the tooth is just pulling your dick, dudes. Schenker was in the tone zone when I saw him the other month. It's always halarious to see the "new" dudes play live. Yea...some are good, but many sound like shit live. Then you have the bunch that sound great on CD and hack around live....they don't even sound like the same band.

when i was fifteen years old, i was a huge queen, aerosmith, zeppelin, deep purple, kiss, thin lizzy, fan etc. etc.
a friend of mines gave me the album, "no heavy petting" by ufo. it featured the guitar work of michael schenker. half way through the third song, i forgot about every other group that i had ever listened to. i went on to listen to the "album", which to this day i still hear the cracks and pops that i heard on my turntable when i listen to it on a cd or ipod! (old heads will understand this)
shortly there after, i purchased "force it", and "phenomenon". also great albums, but in my opinion, poor sound quality.
i guess the rest of the story would be history as ufo started using ron nevison to produce their next three albums. i love all early ufo albums but to me, "strangers in the night" was/is the best piece of recorded music ever released!
i still listen to that record and love it as much as i did in 1979.
their subsequent records with paul chapman had great stuff on them as well...in my opinion. i think phil mogg wrote some of his best lyrics and melodies during that time.
but the subject here is schenker...he's my favorite guitarist of all time and i have very high standards when it comes to his musical output.
i loved the first three studio records by msg. i think "one night at budokan" is ok but would never in a million years come close to "strangers"!
i never warmed up to mac cauley/schenker records but do admit that there were a few good songs there. IMHO.
when michael returned to ufo for "walk on water", i practically became like a grateful dead fan, following them around the country to see them as many times as i could. by the way, all the shows i saw on that tour were stunning!
after that, i feel that most of his output has been poor, to mediocre, to good...but nothing great!
although i will admit that i've seen some great you tube stuff of him playing live.
i learned something in 1995 when i was in cleveland to see ufo play. i'm a schenker fan through and through, but some of his fans want to love everything he puts out so much that they'll defend it to the death even if it's bad!!!
i applaud your loyalty but everyone is entitled to his/her opinion whether you like it or not! this posting confirms my theory that many of these fans have nothing else going on in their lives so they cling to their heros for empowerment! it's sad...
i guess the moral to this whole this is, lighten up and laugh a little bit! michael schenker isn't GOD, he's the best guitarist...when he isn't wearing his mittens!!! LOL
