KISS: Oshawa Concert Sold Out - Sep. 12, 2009
According to the Toronto Sun, all the tickets to KISS' October 7 concert at the GM Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada have sold out.

"Every single, solitary, last one is gone," Oshawa city councillor Robert Lutczyk told the Sun today. "Everything, not one is left."

Tickets went on sale to the general public this morning at 10 a.m. The centre was expected to hold around 5,600 people for the concert.

Members of the KISS Army and GM Centre's Backstage Pass were able to take advantage of pre-sales earlier this week but Lutczyk said he's heard every batch of tickets went like hot cakes.

"They all went in minutes," he said. "There was a huge demand for these things."

At least 100 fans spent two days lined up outside the GM Centre waiting for tickets. Early this morning, the line had grown to a few hundred.

"I doubt that the 10th person in line got tickets," Lutczyk said.

For tickets has become pointless unless your first or second in line. The teller at the place is always way too slow and those seconds are pretty crucial if you wanted general admission standing or front row tickets.

Kiss became big in part because of the make-up......and became big again because of the true nature of the band and their music with make-up !
It's not coming off, it's a more interesting show and little to none of the 80's music is played live, for a F'n reason.
There's always great songs on their albums from Unmasked to Hot in the Shade etc....then there's the not so good tunes on Asylum and Animalize just like every other band has albums/songs that just don't cut it.
So where was the support in the 80's like it is now ! Says a lot !

toronto's air canada centre holds about 22,000 for a concert - not bad considering it's just thirty minutes from oshawa! but i don't think the acc in toronto IS sold out. a friend of mine went online yesterday and there were still plenty of good tickets left. anyways, you're correct - kiss still has fans. while that doesn't mean much, it does mean that they can still draw. i like kiss, but just not post-2003 kiss. but even i'm not stupid enough to say that many people aren't still interested in seeing them. christ, they drew 90,000 in halifax - a band that doesn't have fans doesn't draw those kinds of numbers.

5,600 tickets - BFD!!!!!!!!! From a city that hasn't had a live show come through in more than a decade, this doesn't say much.

And 22,000 in Toronto is a fucking joke, too! The GTA has a population of 6,000,000! If they can't sell 22,000 seats in a city that size, they should pack it the fuck in - which they should anyways, tards!

Stop trying to make it sound like KISS matters - they don't!!!!!!!!

It's all good. It's not constructive respect spewing from YerMamaSux. He's just an idiot.

The end is near for KISS that's for sure. I am going to see this thing through till the end. I don't care what anyone thinks of me. Call me what you will....I don't care. I have been a fan since 1976. Have they done things I don't agree with....HELL YEA!!
Have they done things I really like and respect....HELL YEA!!

I'm not a fan of the merchandise. I don't own anything except cd's, albums, and dvd's. It doesn't bother me that they make the merchandise though. They have always done it. They got the idea for merchandising from The Beatles. They were one of the first bands to produce mass merchandise. Of course KISS took it farther. Yes they have some stupid items if you ask me.

I am also not a fan of Tommy and Eric in Ace's and Peter's makeup either. But they are still solid live. Way tighter than the last few years with Ace and Peter. Does that mean I think this lineup has something as special as that original lineup did back in the day????.....FUCK NO!!

That being said they are still a good band in my opinion. Say what you want but they still have a strong fan base. You guys wish they didn't and don't understand how anyone could still be a KISS fan, but there are many. They can still headline arenas. Promoters still put the money up for them to play...even with the high guaranteed payments that KISS gets.

Name me 5 bands that have been around since 1973 that can still do arenas. I'm sure if we think hard enough we can think of some, but you won't find many.....I will go even one step farther....name me 10 bands old or new that can headline arenas...not in some 5 or 6 band festival either.

But as I am sure you guys will respond with just because they sell tickets doesn't make them good....this is true.
But you are the ones saying no one cares about KISS anymore. While they aren't as popular as they once were...(not many bands were ever as popular as they were from 75-78)...they still have many fans worldwide.

The new cd might be good or it might suck, time will tell.
The sad thing is that the bashers have already made up their mind that it will. And.....they are hoping it doesn't sell well too.
Like I said only time will tell....but don't be too upset if it does do well.

Rock the fuck on KISS.

He even sold out Copps Colisium in Hamilton ( 45 mins from T.O. ) in under an hour, and sold out Buffalo ( 90 minutes from T.O. ) in under an hour.....I don't see Kiss coming anywhere close to doing that.

Kiss was also one of the first bands to "ship platinum"....which would explain why the 4 solo albums were all certified platinum but ended up in the cut-out bargain bins.

Springsteen never had 4 albums on the charts at the same time because he never put out albums within 6 - 8 months of each other. Kiss did. It wasn't that they were that good....it's that they were that good at MARKETING.

Springsteen is also the only performer to appear on the covers of Time and Newsweek simultaniously.....BEFORE...he made it big

Like I said...I like pre-Scab Ki$$, but I'm a bigger Springsteen fan than I am a Kiss fan. And I'd have to say Springsteen is miles ahead of Kiss.

The point about Springsteen selling out shows was this....the amount of time it took, not whether he could. I keep reading posts about how Kiss is better than ever and who else can compare to Kiss' concert sucess. Well From what I see, yes Kiss is selling out...but not in "record time". Whereas Springsteen, who's been around as long as Kiss is selling out shows in less than an hour.....not days or weeks. AND many of the shows are in close proximaty of each other. So the argument of "with the shows so close together it's harder to sell tickets" is moot. Springsteen has proven he is a performer who can sell lots of tickets, quickly, at venues that are relatively close together.

I never said KISS was bigger than Springsteen. If you like Springsteen....great. I can't stand him. Don't like his voice, don't like the music whatsoever.
That being said, I don't begrudge you for liking Springsteen. I respect what he has done, but it's not my cup of tea.

I also never said KISS was the biggest band ever. But I guarantee you this, in the 70's KISS was bigger than Springsteen. So what. It doesn't matter to me.

My point in the previous post was that KISS can still play arenas. Some bashers say that nobody cares about KISS anymore and my point is that they are wrong. Never said KISS was the biggest band ever.

You named 5 artists that could still play arenas that have been around as long as KISS. Good. I knew we could list them. But there aren't many more than the ones you named. I could add Aerosmith to that list.

You said that you spent your 300 on the Beatles. Good for you. I never have stated that KISS were more relevant that the Beatles. What band is??? I mean they are the fucking Beatles for crying out loud.

And for the record...KISS had 5 albums on the Billboard charts at the same time. Does that mean they are better than Springsteen??? No. Does selling out in minutes all over mean that Springsteen is better than KISS? No. It's all opinionated. Depends on who you ask. I have nothing against Springsteen like I said before...he is a good entertainer. I just don't care for his music, but I will say to you about your favorite artist....unlike the KISS bashers....more power to you for liking Springsteen....enjoy.

my point about the Beatles was this: I'd rather spend my money on a Box set from a band that broke up 40 years ago, than buy tickets to see the current line up of Kiss.

My point about relevance was this: Nobody outside of the Kiss Army, the posters here and that dude from Oshawa care about Kiss anymore. Sorry but it's true.

I talk to plenty of people who follow music and:

a) have no idea Kiss have a new album coming out
b) they don't know that Ace and Peter are no longer in the band

Kiss 1975 - 80 were HUGE no doubt, but that's only 5 out of 35 years. They weren't huge in the 80's or early 90's.

I think that you buying Beatles over KISS is great. More power to you. I don't knock you one bit for it. Great.

You are right about the 80's and 90's. They only had 3 platinum and 4 gold records in the 80's and 3 more gold records in the early 90's. Yes, not as HUGE as the 70's, but not bad. Most artists would give their left nut to have sales like that. I know, I know, it doesn't make them good or anything, but that wasn't your point there....at least I don't think so.

Anyway, you like who you like....awesome.
You don't like KISS....great.
You say nobody cares about KISS anymore....you lie. You are just trying to spin it in your favor.

When Sonic Boom comes out, we will see how many people care. I am realistic, so I am not predicting over a million or anything, but I will say half a million. Not bad numbers for a band that nobody gives a shit about anymore.

Don't like them...fine. Enjoy your Beatles and Springsteen collections. I have no problem with your for that.
But don't try to convince me of some opinions you have that aren't the facts.

Well first off I do like Kiss, in fact I own every album they've put out. I just have been disappointed with them time and time again since 1984 or so.

But sorry, anyone I talk to about Kiss doesn't care about them anymore. Like I said, I doubt anyone outside of the Kiss Army or BM even know they're still making music or touring.

I don't hold up much hope for Sonic Boom, not because I think it will suck. I just don't think the record buying public in general care if there's a new Kiss record.

Read C.K. Lendt's Kiss and Sell book. They were losing large amounts of money in the 80's and early '90's. Their record sales weren't that great and many promoters didn't even want to book them.

and I do enjoy my Springsteen and Beatle collections very much

Being a kiss fan for over 30 years and following everything thye have done, let me make some points.... and I will be subjective:

1. talking about the 1st big KISS years 75-79 or 80. Kiss' big years were bigger than ANY other bands biggests years. For example. KISS took over entire music stores in those 70's heydey years. You would of thought KISS was the only artist. It was nuts. Trust me... it was insane...
2. KISS music appeals to WAAAAY less people than Springsteen, Beatles etc. Cant even compare...
3. 1996 when they reunited, NOTHING was bigger. They could have sold out multistadiums. the 4 MSG shows sold out in record time and demand was for over 12 shows. thats 200000 tix which is 4 stadiums......it was only originally scheudled for 2. And they played multinights in Long Island ny and Phila which is local....
3. If original KISS stayed toghter as original throughout the years, KISS WOULD be the biggest band to ever breathe. No question... and with MUSIC that appeals to far less people. KISS transcends music and is a piece or American pop culture NEVER to me seen again.
4. The fact that they are still here and selling very well with half the band just proves it more!!!!!! I heard SOnic BOom and it is great.
5. KISS set the standard for big shows and top shelf production. No one is better... period.

KISS will never die... The fans will keep it alive LOOONG after they are gone... I dont see many Springsteen and Micheal Jackson conventions.... KISS has them worlrwide run by the fans.

FInally, the music stands the test of time. the songs rule. Otherwise no WAY they are still here touring...

KISS is a machine...

People hating KISS is nothing new. There have always been those who strongly oppose them. They have always been one of those love em or hate em bands.

KISS still rocks in my opinion. If they don't to you...awesome.

You see the best band debate will ring on forever because there is no winner. It's opinion. It all depends on who you ask.
That being said, I am in no way trying to say that KISS is more relevant than the Beatles, or Led Zeppelin, or The Who, or many others. I am saying however, that KISS is still relevant to many.

Putting KISS in the same sentence as the Beatles, the Who, Springsteen or Led Zeppelin shows a complete ignorance of music. Yes, KISS has fans and still draws crowds - so does Britney Spears. So did Milli Vanilli. Does that give them credibility? Not an ounce! Lots of people bought Corvairs when they were for sale - did that make it a good car? No, it just showed that the masses are not equipped to say what's good and what sucks!

Like KISS all you want - and "zeets" is right on, it's only the KISS Army that still gives them credibility. But even with that, KISS has never and will never be a credible rock and roll act. EVER!

My wife had never been to a concert aside from Van Hagar. She wanted to see a "real show". So I took her to see Kiss in 2001.

Three weeks before the Kiss show we went to see Springsteen. She knew only 3 Bruce songs but halfway into the show she turns to me and says " he's amazing!"

She HATED the Kiss show....she hated Paul's phoney....we love you (insert city here) raps and the fake exploding applause meter.

" man dont those 2 need a bullet lol " and that was aimed at how pathetic and anyoing those 2 artist are... and also in that email the person wrote about how they wanted me banned and it looked and souned the way you write !!!!! it was either yourself or yermamasux...did u get me booted for absolutly no reason what so ever ? someone cut and paste only one line of my comment and made it sound worse than wat it was...i was agreeing with everything you said on that post...so my question is was it you who wrote that email, because people have a certain way of writing and phrasing on here and that email sounded and looked just like you..if it was ..very very bad form

I have never reported any poster to Blabbermouth. To me, that goes against what Blabbermouth is all about. I remember that post and was not offended by your remark. I don't know why you would single me out as the person who reported you.

I couldn't be bothered. I actually find you and all of your multilple personalities quite entertaining! But since you bragged on a previous post about getting me kicked off BM once, I would shake the hand of whoever reported you! But seriously, it wasn't me. Sorry to disappoint you. I can't image why anyone would accuse brianca of doing anything like that - that wussy hasn't got a mean word to say about anyone!

i only had to ask the qeustion because i was suspicious..bslash24 ^^^ the comment that got me kicked wasnt racist or threatning in any sorts, it was a normal reply and it got me booted wich made me wonder how could someone get booted for saying nothing wrong, when these chat rooms are full of people arguing, mocking and doing worse things..

briancia sorry to accuse you but had to make sure

and yermamasux ^^^my post are only ever ment to be entertaining, and only ment to add fuel to your fire so you come back with something that makes me laugh, and the end of the day these replys arnt threatning or personal, just a bit of fun between lovers and haters of the band.

but the bmouth staff emailed me the reason i got booted, and it was actually no reason at all..they cut and pasted only one line of my post, wich brianca admitted was not offensive and i got kicked ??? thats why i had to ask, i was just suspicious why i got booted for no reason

okay, bognerboy is crazykissfan? i can't keep your username straight, man!

i got booted off once too. my comment was that a certain openly gay artist should have stayed in the closet, although my wording was a little more harsh. i just meant that, for their career, it was probably better not to have come out. someone took exception to that remark and i was banned. usually, what it amounts to is some idiot who you got the best of in an arguement wanting to show you up. what can you do? people are idiots.

You talking Priest?...lol

And Bslash. Good post. I agree. I don't think KISS is in the same league as some of the bands you mentioned. But, they are definately in the next tier for sure.....like it or not.

I do disagree however with the VH in 1980 thing. They weren't as big in 1980 as KISS was in 1977. But later in the 80's, VH passed them. And yes I am old enough to remember, and I am a HUGE VH fan also. Seen them live 14 times.

I do think Eddie VH was a way better guitarist than ACE. I think Eddie is way better than Page too. He influenced many to pick up the guitar, just like ACE did before him, and Page did before ACE.

But like I said, KISS is not in the same league with the Beatles or Zeppelin for sure. VH....it's close. I think VH is in that next tier category these days as well.......but what do I know?

yes i know what u mean..look the first time i ever got booted i admit i deserved it, i said the wrong thing..but..the times after that, man all i did was sneeze and i got booted, sure i have disagreements with people in here, but i have never said i hate or dislike or threatend anybody..bmouth staff should be more aware of people trying to get others banded for silly things..i was told that is was the same person everytime getting me off , so like u said someone is trying to have the final say, but being booted of as crazykissfan was pointless and shouldnt have happened..brianca even said the last post i wroye her wasnt offenseive, and the post was written to her, i was agreeing with what she said..then someone cut and paste one line off my post and made it into sonething it wasnt...im confused ?

when I'm saying Kiss is in Beatles league, I mean only as a "mania". THey are NO where in their league as song writers, band, musicians....if we're talking that, KiSS is above average....I too am about your age, & have to disagree re: VH. THey were the biggest band in the land up to 1984, by end of 80's....well they may have sold more, they were more commerical rock, but not as "huge", as being the "next huge thing"...its hard to explain....when they came to town, say in 1981, it was huge. You HAD to see VH. Buy 1988, not so much.

Of course Eddie's better than Ace, but that's not the point here, I'm simply talking KiSS mania, which was huge...but not the biggest in rock history. By 1977, their mania was more flash in the pan Kiddie rock, like BayCity Roller mania. It couldn't be maintained, because the music lacked the depth to really back it up. Fun rock, but they were more a show.

a more reserved, thoughtful Haymaker this morning. That is perfectly & respectfully said....I'm not KiSS bashing by alluding to that either, like you, I enjoyed the spectacle & songs in the 70's, but their mega stardom of 76-78 had more than undertones of being sort of, vapid in a way. They weren't completely teenybopperish, Alive! is a solid hard rock album, that completes with the rockers of the day...but their marketing by 1978 did become more geared to early teens, as opposed to the Zeps, that were harder edged all around.

that's not bad. but it can't be glossed over. They did come some what "kid's stuff". their mega mania was a bit empty musically, ala Leif Garrett(no, not that bad). Zep was huge, as was VH, and it wasn't quite as "manic" as Kiss's, only because it was older kids...not sure if I'm making sense.

sorry, bro. just a little tired this morning, so not as pissy as usual i guess.

but here's my point - kiss made a massive impact on rock and roll by setting a standard with their live show and image. AND, in the process, wrote some pretty decent songs and put out some decent albums, right? so what's wrong with that? why does it always have to be "well, kiss did this, and they're like the beatles because....." hold on a second! we're talking about kiss here, not the beatles. kiss never intended to be the world's answer to bug spray, let alone the beatles, so why put them in a category that they don't belong?

that isn't saying that kiss isn't great! but EVERY BAND pales in comparison to the beatles, so why even try to make that stretch. as a fan of classic kiss, which i am proud to be, i focus on the fact that kiss owned a part of the 70's. sure, kiss is not what they were, but what band is? but the die-hards seem to want it stated for the record that kiss is as good as the beatles, that they are infallible and are the greatest artists in the history of the genre. i get that people love kiss, but there's a difference between being proud of kiss and saying that they're infallible, isn't there?

like i said, sometimes it feels like you either have to love kiss and accept everything they do, or you're against them. and that's bullshit.

:ENDQUOTE

Toronto may not have that many kiss fans pal. that Sh'wa does for our venue. hell I know peopel who are fans who aren't going because of the crap kiss pulled initially by not scheduling a concert date for Oshawa.

cities like us are skipped over because bands and promoters only care about money and how they can get as much of it as possible.
