GUNS N' ROSES' Japanese Shows Confirmed By UNIVERSAL MUSIC
- Sep. 14, 2009
|
|
The Japanese branch of Universal Music has confirmed on its web site that GUNS N' ROSES will play two dates in Japan in December: Dec. 16 - Osaka Dome Dec. 19 - Tokyo Dome Tickets go on sale on October 3. More information in English is available on the web site of the Japanese concert promoter Hayashi International Promotion Co. Ltd. ( H.I.P.). A special web site for GN'R's Japanese shows has been launched by the promoter at this location. As previously reported, GUNS N' ROSES is also being advertised by Taiwanese concert promoter Brokers Brothers Herald, Ltd. ( BBH) as playing Taipei County Stadium in Taipei, Taiwan on December 11. A short commercial for the Taipei concert can be viewed below. "Chinese Democracy", the sixth and most recent album from GUNS N' ROSES, was released in its entirety to the Rock Band Music Store catalog of downloadable content on April 14. The tracks are available for purchase as an album or individual tracks for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system. The tracks are available for purchase as individual tracks only for Wii. Aside from Billboard and Spinner interviews and answering a number of fan questions at a GUNS N' ROSES message board, singer Axl Rose has done no promotion of any kind for "Chinese Democracy". "Chinese Democracy" was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA) on February 3, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of one million copies.

Wonder which songs they'll play? I'm sure they will sound much better without the lousy Robin Finck - wonder why Axl insisted on keeping him as the second lead guitar player.

for people who really like good rockmusic CHINESE DEMOCRACY is one of the best albums of the last years. A record that matters!
It might need some time but it grows so much.
They`ll prove while touring, I am sure! I hope they keep prices affordable to keep it ROCK`N`ROLL!

GNR will do better overseas than in the U.S. right now. Also Chinese D. sold three million copies world wide or some such number.

up until the release of Chin Dem, there was hope for some, these BM posts were filled with back & forth "discussions" of the worth of the new GnR, etc....there are tumbleweeds & cobwebs out here now. There is a complete lack of interest....no one talks of GnR. Axl has all but pulled the plug. If he plays these shows, it too go unnoticed beyond that single night(s) in Japan.
Axl has stated he prefers playing overseas because they accept the new direction/band....who can name the band members at this point? You'd need a compass & map, and a shredders/techno Rock who's who...he can't even keep a "new" band together....its a tribute/solo band sadly. CHin Dem's impact was not felt. Weither it was decent or not, no one other than a few devout axl fans know....and if there were 3mil albums world wide out there, it was 3mil "shipped", not sold.

that many of you not only don't remember this past U.S. Tour but also were not there.
There were very few if any incidents on the 2006 tour, Axl and company showed up and kicked ass night in and night out. A few shows were canceled by the venues, but no cancellations happened due to Axl or his attitude.
Sebastian Bach did a great job at opening up the show, and they worked extremely well together.
It's been confirmed time and time again that there are several new albums in the works both by Axl and by Sebastian.
Nothing Axl has done recently gives any indication that this isn't going to continue and that he's going to return to his old ways. The tour kicked ass, the album kicked ass, and Axl will continue to kick ass.

Nothing Axl's done has given indication he is returning to old ways?? are you serious. I think Geffen & Best Buy might disagree with you, completely uncooperative, he did no promotion, no interviews, slagged his label, went into hiding. I respect he does EXACTLY what he wants, to a point. He doesn't give anything to his fans, each day, one by one, they drop off....one record and a sprinkling of shows in 15 years. Not good.

1 million plus copies in the USA without any promotion, and only sold from Best Buy. Don't know about you guys, but I'd call that quite a success.
Like the new album or not, you'd have to be out of your mind to think that a World Tour of arenas, both in the USA and overseas, would be anything other than a massive success for GnR, regardless of who is in the band.
The live music going crowd and the album buying crowd are not necessarily the same group of people. Hence why some bands have always been able to fill large venues, year after year, with low album sales or no new albums at all.

again, the 1mil you quote is the total SHIPPED to best buy, the total Best Buy agreed to sell. It was around 700K sold last I heard...which for GnR, is not good. you can't say "well that's without promotion or tour", well, why not just sell them off the back of a truck, that's part of the game, promotion & tour...yes, its a different enviroment than it was in 1991, but big acts still sell big if they deliver a good record. there's too many "well, if this, if that". It didn't sell. It didn't get air play. No one really heard the album. Axl should be ashamed he didn't get the word out.
and I disagree with GnR selling out arena's, they didn't in the US on their last tour. I saw them in Boston in 2002, it was far from sold out.

BULLSHIT.
I went and saw AXL and his ensemble.... for a while.
He came on at 12:30 after Seabass. Waiting to come on takes on a whole new meeting with AXL. I left with hundreds of others. The sound was shit too.

that's correct too, when I saw "him" in 2002, he came on at roughly midnight on a Monday....for those who say "hey, that's rock n' roll, just cuz you work 9 to 5, F you"...I say "then tell me "band comes on at midnight" on the ticket". I'll come at 11:00....who in their right mind likes to sit for 4 hours in an arena that has long since stopped the beer concessions, once the beer stops, boredom creeps in, people are getting more & more restless, fights, near sleep, finally I'm pissed at Axl & want my $$ back. Yeah, that's a fuckin' blast.
