ALICE IN CHAINS: New Album Samples Available - Sep. 16, 2009
Audio samples of the tracks that will appear on ALICE IN CHAINS' much-anticipated new album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", can be heard in the YouTube clip below. Due on September 29, the CD was recorded with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS) at Studio 606 in Northridge, California and Henson Studios in Hollywood.

The track listing for the album is as follows:

01. All Secrets Known
02. Check My Brain
03. Last Of My Kind
04. Your Decision
05. A Looking In View
06. When The Sun Rose Again
07. Acid Bubble
08. Lessons Learned
09. Take Her Out
10. Private Hell
11. Black Gives Way To Blue

ALICE IN CHAINS singer William DuVall recently told The Flint Journal about the new CD, "I think you can expect a really dense, really heavy but really ethereal and cathartic sonic experience.

"We took our time with this record. There was certainly no shortage of thoughts and feelings to address with everything that's gone down. It's a snapshot of our journey from early 2006 to this point right now. It's the story of our coming together. It's also the story of a band that is both celebrating its legacy but also opening the door to the future, and mourning the loss of a friend, one of the great singers of all time, Layne Staley. But it really is a testament to for every door that closes, there's another one that opens, if you chose to open it. They lost somebody but they also gained somebody."

ALICE IN CHAINS will be IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson's guests on Friday, September 25 during Bruce's weekly BBC 6 Music radio program, dubbed "The Bruce Dickinson Friday Rock Show". Listen to the broadcast live via the Internet between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. (midnight) U.K. time at BBC.co.uk.

ALICE IN CHAINS will celebrate the release of "Black Gives Way To Blue" with an outdoor mini-concert on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday, September 29 (which will actually air the morning of Wednesday, September 30).

If you pre-order ALICE IN CHAINS' new album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", via iTunes, you will receive two exclusive bonus tracks: "Your Decision" (live) and "Black Gives Way To Blue (Elton John Piano Mix)".

.... as always one cannot really form an opinion based on this.

I will say though: Check My Brain is a great song. Basic but cool video.

As for the album, i look forward to it but have one fear: that you never hear Duvall, he seems always blended in with Cantrell. I have always loved the dual vocal harmonies in this band but you could hear Staley on his own quite a lot. Would that mean that they don t trust him? a kind of Newsted-like hazing? that he's just not good enough?

still looking forward to the album, although i usually don t when it comes to reunions / band revivals. but i ve always had faith in these guys' integrity

Like bonaparte, I wish I could hear more of Duvall. Still thinking this is gonna be a great cd either way though. First day buyer right here.

Sweet, but it still sounds like Jerry Cantrell is the new lead singer of Alice in Chains. By having Duvall blend in Cantrell avoids alienating fans.

Yeah, I always thought it was cool that Jerry uses G&L. I also liked the Danelectro guitar he used on "What the Hell Have I" music video.

I think i'm gonna really like thsi album, though a couple tunes sound like they need a few listens first.

Both Jerry and Will have stated that the band really has two lead singers now. As long as they keep up the harmonies it will be cool. I would like to hear them let William loose on a couple of tracks though. If you have seen them live you know what I'm talking about. Great, powerful voice. Not Layne but powerful in his own right. Miss Layne, but they picked the best guy they could possibly find to fill out the band. Kudos to AiC for not getting some big name guy to sing and cash in. They found the guy that really was best for the job.

On the live versions of Acid Bubble on Youtube, Duvall really cuts loose. The song is live two different songs put together. Anyway, I did not realize Duval had the range he dows until I heard Acid Bubble. He's borderline Cornell.
