Former
SKID ROW singer
Sebastian Bach has issued the following update:
"What a great night on Sunday [September 13] in New York City.
"We got invited by our friend Vegas to grab some cool new threads at
Custo in Manhattan for Fashion Week. The
Custo fashion show was Sunday and we were invited. It turned into a night that I will never forget ! Only in New York City!
"We got to Bryant Park and had a cool time at the
Custo show. The clothes were wild and colorful.
"I'd never been to one of these shows before so it was a new experience for me to see the thousands of people crammed in there, freaking out, the hundreds of photographers, models, etc. It was loud and fun and we felt important being invited there!
"Backstage we met our old buddy
Federico Castelluccio from the greatest show ever, 'The Sopranos'. He was at the show with his beautiful date,
Yvonne.
"We have known
Federico for years. In the mid-1990s
Maria [
Bach's wife] was in a movie with
Federico called
'New York Absurdities' and they had a great time together shooting the movie. Then he went on to play one of my all-time favorite characters,
Furio on
'The Sopranos',
Tony's assistant, who falls in love with
Carmella and almost throws
Tony into the propeller of a plane!
Federico also came to the New York
GUNS N' ROSES show at Madison Square Garden in 2006 that we opened, and we all went out together with
Axl [
Rose] after the show; it was a wild night. So it was great to see him again!
"He invited us to dinner at Cha-Cha's in Little Italy, owned by
John 'Cha Cha' Ciarcia, who played the last remaining New York boss on
'The Sopranos'. Also at dinner were
John Bianco, who killed
Vito on
'The Sopranos', and
Salvatore 'Coco' Cogliano from the show too! I was loving it, because like everyone else, this is one of my favorite shows of all time.
"After dinner, we were invited to the private
Viacom 'After The [MTV Video Music Awards] Party' at Bungalow 8 in Soho. I have been to this place a bunch of times and it's always a great time. We hung out for a while, then we found out my old buddy from
BON JOVI,
Dave Bryan, was there, so I went to his table. I freaked out 'cause
Billy Joe from
GREEN DAY was sitting right next to
Dave, and he was really nice and making jokes and having fun. Then there was some dude next to
Billy in a baseball hat; it was totally dark, I could not see who it was. I looked close and when I realized who I was talking to, I really lost my shit. It was
Sean Penn.
"Now I know I sometimes exaggerate, get emotional etc., but it was no lie when I told
Sean that he was indeed my favorite actor of all time. I love
Jack Nicholson,
Clint Eastwood,
James Gandolfini,
Frederico and
'The Sopranos' cast, some other actors , but if I had to pick who I thought was the best, I would have to say
Sean Penn. I judge this on the quality and size of his body of work, and right from
Jeff Spicoli and
'Bad Boys' to
Harvey Milk and
'Into The Wild', I can honestly say
Sean Penn has never let me down when I go to see one of his films.
"The fan in me came out talking to the man and I was astonished to discover that
Sean knew pretty much my whole career — rock, Broadway,
VH1, all of it — encapsulated by one of his first comments to me: 'Why aren't you in jail right now?' To which I replied, 'Well, sometimes I don't leave the house a lot.' To which he replied, 'Yeah, that's a good plan for you,' which got the whole table laughing and the party kicked into high gear. He said my 'journey has always been interesting' and called me the 'Heavy Metal Elvis' more than once during the evening, haha!!
Sean Penn's words; hey, I'm rollin' with it!
"We all made it up to the private area, had a great time, took some pix, and I got into a discussion with
Sean about a lot of things. He is a big fan of the original
SKID ROW. We talked about that and a lot of other stuff.
Mike Dirnt and
Tre Cool from
GREEN DAY were awesome too, and
Mike is a big metal fan! He told me he digs my pipes and that I 'sing my fucking ass off!' I told him thanks and also to tell
Rob Cavallo [
GREEN DAY producer] thanks a lot for being a dick on
'SuperGroup' [
VH1 show that
Bach participated in alongside
Ted Nugent,
Scott Ian,
Jason Bonham and
Evan Seinfeld] when he was listening to our demo! He laughed and we had a lot of fun. Then I was hanging out with the guys in
MUSE and I didn't even know it!
"A great night and I got the pictures to prove it! Haha!!"
