STONE TEMPLE PILOTS has spent the last few months working on a new studio album with producer Don Was. According to singer Scott Weiland, the CD should be ready for release sometime in early 2010.

The upcoming release of PILOTS' sixth studio album and first since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da" has been complicated by a contractual dispute between Weiland, drummer Eric Kretz and STP's label, Atlantic Records.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS were reactivated in 2008 after a six-year layoff, during which time Weiland recorded two albums with VELVET REVOLVER before being dismissed in April 2008.

Weiland issued a second solo effort, called "Happy In Galoshes", last November and has been touring on his own behind that release.

US dates suck. :(

I'd love to see these guys live, as they are one of my favorite bands. Guess I'll wait for the next tour!

Army of Anyone was good. Always thought Robert DeLeo was a good writer.

Army of Anyone was quite rad.

Saw STP in July. Lots of lights. Otherwise extremely meh. They're a studio band. Other than Scott dressing up and using a megaphone for 2 hours.... it's very skippable.

New AIC is killer though. Save your money, skip STP's show and buy AIC's new album instead.

Also that pick is creepy. Other than Weiland it looks like the same guy 3 times with different hair.

I'm so there.

And he didn't quit VR. He got fired. Depending on whose story you believe, of course.

I do believe the answer to that was he quit. He announced at the last show in March you are witnessing something special the last live performance of Velvet Revolver. In March March March. Velvet Revolver articles say they dismissed him in April (some Say in June). I do believe that means he quit. Without Weiland, there won't be another Revolver. Maybe in a few years after Matt Soreass calms down there might be a reunion but after all the shit they talked about Scott, I hope he doesn't do it.
