MEGADETH's MUSTAINE Says 'Endgame' Is Better Than METALLICA's 'Death Magnetic'

Kevin "Taz" Conklin of "The Big Dumb Radio Show" ( web site) — which airs on Kalamazoo, Michigan's 92.5 WZUU FM radio station — conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine earlier this week. The chat is now available for streaming in two parts below. A couple of excerpts from the interview follow. On how "Endgame" has been received thus far: Mustaine: "The record is a complete smash success right now for us. Even web sites that are notorious for hating MEGADETH, like Blabbermouth, we got an 8.5 out of 10 there. I mean, go figure. And they even said something that was kind towards me, saying, 'Well, maybe it's time for us to take a lesson from Professor Dave.' And I'm thinking, 'Huh?!' I guess hell must be frozen. [laughs] And I just heard that there's a magazine — a very high-ranking, established institution... magazine in the U.K., one of the guys there said that MEGADETH is better than METALLICA. And I was like, 'Oh, my God. The next thing you know I'm gonna wake up and I'm gonna be 16 again and I'll have somebody really hot and young laying in my bed.'" If it's the 'he-said-she-said' stuff, that's not OK, because they weren't there. But if it's stuff like talking about anything that was to happen, currently or in the future, it's total speculation and it's up in the air. I really don't like talking about it, because I have a new record out and I've heard both records [referring to METALLICA's 'Death Magnetic' and MEGADETH's 'Endgame' — Ed.], and I think mine's better. And that's not a dig at [ METALLICA]; it's just how I feel. And I know that they've got a lot of records that are better than the stuff I've put out, but not all of it, and certainly not the stuff that we made together." I so agree with Dave on this. "End Game" is much better than "Death Magnetic!" It is a in your face thrash attack unlike DM! Just the cold hard truth. I think Dave is a shit head, but he is dead on on this one.
If you have not heard End Game you can not comment! It is nothing like the last two wet tampons Megadeth released!

Both albums are great in their own ways. But i think the guitar work on Endgame is slightly better IMHO. Dave & Chris both do some killer riffs etc on the new Megadeth record. To each their own....

I think this comment, like most of the others, is sensationalized, made to look like something they are not.To Dave Mustaine, Metallica is not a revered rock institution like it is to alot of us, its just a band of his contemporaries...
Taken from that aspect. of course he says he think his cd is better.If you are megadeth or metallica and you never release a cd you dont think is as good or better than your contemporaries.

but still, shame on you dave. you have really turned into an egotistical prick. i liked death magnetic at first, now i don't really like it anymore.. it got old fast. as for Endgame, i think it'll have a bigger effect on Megadeth's image than Death Magnetic had for Metallica. Death Magentic was a huge step forward from St. Anger, people don't seem to realize that. Yeah, Metallica will NEVER be as good as they were before. I'm sorry to say, but that band died basically after Cliff Burton did. And Justice For All was a great album, there were a few good songs on The Black Album, like maybe one good on Load, and like 3 good ones on Reload. And St. Anger (with the exception of Frantic) is complete shit imo.
Dave, please stop having such a big ego. It really needs to die...

it's a lot better than endgame. dave is letting a couple magazine and website ratings go to his head. endgame is a mediocre album at best and megadeth is just a has-been metal band! the sales figures are nothing special. it only sold a fraction of what bands like slipknot and a7x sell and an even smaller fraction of what metallica sells. and how fucking pathetic to proclaim your own album better than metallica's! if the big 4 tour happens it will happen only if james and lars wants it to and it will be under their terms. The other 3 bands of the big 4 are like needles in the haystack compared to metallica. It's been that way for almost 20 years.

I have to say, aside from Mustaine's megalomania, Death Magnetic is basically an answer to all of the hardcore fans want for a Metallica album to sound like they did pre-Black Album. I can't stand the sound of the album, although I'm a huge Metallica fan. I have everything from the No Life Til Leather demos up till DM. It's not sonically good. I think if they used better amps, pushed the gain a little more, it would have sounded better. The songs are alright but, I think Hetfield is a little short on the growls. Endgame, on the other hand, is just a rehash of Rust In Peace. The only thing I can say for Megadeth is that they kind of stuck to the metal side of things whereas Metallica ventured off into some different areas. To each their own. I definitely prefer Megadeth's sound over Metallica, as of late. As for his comments, he needs to shut it. I'm wondering what kind of drama will ensue on this supposed Metallica - Slayer - Megadeth tour.

Ya'll are just in soooooooooo much denial, it's true, IT'S DAMN TRUE... Endgame owns Death Magnetic. I've spun Endgame more than Magnetic. I fooled myself into thinking that Metallica put forth their best effort at trying to recapture some of their glory. Having listened to Magnetic again, it truly sounds like most of the furiosity/speed is forced. Oh, and you bash Dave on his vocals, how about Jaymz and his warbling, off-key shit. I mean come on, listen to the "Shortest Straw" vid from a few days ago, he can't growl anymore? WTF? Is he going through puberty again??? I'll admit, Dave isn't as intense as he could be in some spots on Endgame. However, the music is intense, the thrash element is there, the solos are blazing. Chris Broderick is indeed a breath of fresh air into the mix, Drover's drumming is top notch on this one and as I said before, James "White Lion" Lamonzo (sp?) is truly surprising to me that he can play a mean bass line.
So all you Mustaine/Megadeth haters... go spin your Death Magnetic and live in your 1988 Metallica is the shit dream land... It's 2009, Dave Mustaine has reconnected with what made Megadeth great; speed, tech riffage and overall sonic supremecy.
Oh and I'll say this again especially since "Big 4" is a rumor, piss on Metallica... bring in Testament along with Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth.

I agree that Endgame is a better record than Death Magnetic. Not that the 2 records could or should be compared, but Endgame heavier and more fun to listen to. Musically, its a better metal record.
With that said, I think Dave needs to shut the hell up. Any time Metallica is brought up, Dave just needs to say 'no comment'. Megadeth is his legacy and he should be damn proud of it, instead of trying to make Metallica jealous of him - which will never happen. I guess some things you just never get over. Being fired from what was to become the world's biggest band is one of them.

Fuck yes Endgame is better than Death Magnetic. Death Magnetic sounds contrived while Endgame sounds natural. Dave doesn't need to try, he just does. He is metal. James, Lars and Kirk were metal, once upon a time. I've had Endgame in my car stereo since the day it came out (well, I took it out once to listen to the new Porcupine Tree) and while it is not Megadeth's best album, it is pretty fucking good.
I love Megadeth. I always have. I loved Metallica but they let me down. That being said, you know it's a good day if you have Peace Sells or Ride The Lightning in your car stereo. Satan Bless the metal.

It sounds like it was produced by someone who was heavily intoxicated or partially deaf - probably both.
It makes Metallica look and sound like amateurs, but after the garbage that was "St Anger" there's no turning back.

I gotta agree. Death Magnetic is more memorable then Endgame. After St. Anger (which I think is a pretty good album, not the best, but good) and people bashing that left and right, Metallica had something to prove with DM.
There was 100x more anticipation for DM then Endgame. Ya know with the whole "will it or will it not sound like St. Anger?" shit.
Am I a Metallica fan you may ask, and to answer, yes I am.

Metallica has sucked for almost 20 yrs. Megadoof has sucked for almost 25 yrs. Anthrax is just lost and has been since State of Euphoria. And Slayer still has glimmers of brilliance but nothing even comes close to the 80s stuff.
So really the "big four" are now obsolete. Testament owns them all and has for a while now.
Wanna put together a REAL thrash show - Testament, Violence, Kreator, Voivod and Exodus. With special guests Nuclear Assault and DRI.
There you have it. Straight from an old fuck who was there, back in the day, when the pits were brutal and the posers were clobbered.

1. We, the ones that may or may not like Megadeth, but know for a fact that Endgame eats Death magnetic in every aspect possible.
2. Fankids (and I mean KIDS) who know that what Dave says is the pure truth, but are in denial because "omgawd its 'tallica!!my favorite band evahh :3". Seriously, there are less anti-Dave comments than what I would expect with a headline like that... guess it's too much for these kids to think about a real reason why their washed-up band is better than a Demi-God like Dave.
3. Trolls, who think that the last album of their favorite band, which usually would have a fanbase of a couple of hundreds in the very ass of the world, is the greatest masterpiece that humanity has ever listened to. (few of these actually)

Death Magnetic is fake. Its the first time Metallica sold out musically. I hate The Black Album, Load, Reload and St.Anger, but at least they were being true to themselves and not giving a fuck who liked it except for them. Now they want to be thrashy because its making somewhat of a comeback.

The fact that Metallica kills Megadeth in a live setting, is generally more mature and respectful, and are able to hold their band together (three out of four original members to this day) is the reason ill stand by Metallica. But bands have made GREAT records.
As for the albums. I just feel like Death Magnetic gels better than Endgame. Its not about technicality, its about the feel. Take a song like All nightmare long, its a monster, crushes everything on endgame if you ask me.

He said that's just how he feels about it being better, but at the same time it's not like he said that Death Mag sucks either. I think he's usualy fair with his opinions. I bought Endgame and listened to it all the way through 4 or 5 times already and personaly, from what I hear especially musically/instrumentaly? (althogh Death Magnetic is a decent improvement since Metallica's last 3 albums) I stll think Endgame is better, not sucking up to Dave, I just think it is.

Hey dipshit...Testament, Exodus and Overkill have been kicking your ass since the mid 90's. Endgame is weak shit compared to Formation, Atrocity and Immortalis. Instead of worrying about the big four (of which only Anthrax is worth a shit) howabout focusing on the other three (four once Metal Church reunites). Testament and Exodus have been pushing metal forward for years. You are too worried about what Lars is doing to try anything truly heavy and creative.

If I were in Metallica, I wouldn't want to be in the same room with Mustaine. Give it a day or two before he drags Anthrax into this crap unless if he already has, then that will totally kill the hope of ever seeing a tour of that magnitude from happenning. Dave is a jackass. I was not very fond of DM, better after the last month of all the shit talking from Dave, I won't ever buy another Megadick album.

I've got both albums.
I like Endgame and all, but I think Death Magnetic is better. It appeals more to my musical taste and also the singing is better and the songs have more melodies and not all about guitar solo work, which is what I like more.
My opinion.

I've met Dave, and I though he'll be a jackass, but no. You read things about him and things he says and he shows a total different Dave than you see in person. Comparing the albums, I'm an audio engineer, and with that in mind, I can't stand listening the entire Death Magnetic album, on the other side, it was a pleasure to listen to Endgame. IMHO

I'm a fan of both bands, and for me, 'Death Magnetic' is much much better. More importantly, does Mustaine ever shut up? Or is he aware that talking out of his ass is the only way he'll get any attention. He always complains about how journalists don't 'get' him, but he sure does like them when they're nice to him or about the band.

I've heard some of the new Megadeth album, I can really dig the first two tracks and I like a couple of the other ones. Death Magnetic is still better in my eyes not for any other reason than that I just can't find it within my heart to give a fuck about Megadeth anymore.
I can't be bothered to read the reviews for most albums anymore because they reek of the same bullshit drivel 8 times out of 10 and the last time I read a "great" review I wasted $20 on St. Anger.
As far as the arguments for either album, for each bands respective fans it'll be debated to death which album or band is better but a better question....Who's left from Megadeth as opposed to who's LEFT Metallica in the last 25 years?

Metallica are way more fun , something alot of people on here seem to overlook . Nicer in person when you meet them . Endgame has some great guitar parts but Death Magnetic is the type of album you can put on when having a summer party BBQ"N ..........and id rather get a lap dance to cyanide then any song of Endgame And that crap Dave posted last night was herendous , bad mouthing Marty Friedmans skills ! Thats alot of audacity considering Dave posted on here a week ago " when i get done with karate lessons im heading to the studio to re - learn "FIVE MAGICS " Marty helped create the best album he ever put out . I have to go with Endgame , I think Death magnetic only sounded good at first cause st.anger was the last album before it . had metallica not made st. anger i dont think death magnetic would even of stood out at all. not saying it wouldnt of sold well , cause metallica is like ac/dc or aerosmith , their new albums will always sell well only cause of the name . Dave is just being Dave and i never want him to change , i love him the way he is . I met the whole band 2 years ago on tour and it wasnt a meet and greet or anything, i approached them behind the club they were playing and believe it or not Dave was very nice to me , shook my hand , gave me a pic , and talked to me for like 2 minutes . he was nothing at all like i thought he would be like . even if he wasnt known as an asshole, most bands as big as megadeth get pretty annoyed by fans approaching them when they arent having a meet and greet or etc . which ever album you like better their is no denying that endgame has way better guitar work . i think james is a better singer then dave if you were to go by the book , but i happen to like daves voice better , but thats just my opinion. just like eddie van halen is a better guitar player then tony iommi , but id much rather hear tony cause i like his style more .

I love the new Megadeth but don't think the production is near as good as people are saying. It's too slick and the guitars are so smooth (and kinda in the background) that it doesn't get loud no matter how much you turn it up. Death Magnetic definitely could of had beefier rhythm tones, but I think it sounds more powerful than Endgame.

One of the things that makes Dave's music stand out in my opinion is the fact that he has had a fire lit under his ass for a long time over all of the business of being uncerimoniously kicked out of Metallica, for them using his music (on the first 2 or 3 albums), and for so many people rubbing Metallica's success in his face. Things like that will make anyone fight very hard to overcome. Metallica on the other hand got very successful which made the soft and now somewhat directionless. Having hundreds of "yes men" around will do that to you. Metallica's clulessness is evident on 'St. Anger'. 'Death Magnetic' is an attempt to coddle the fans of classic thrash metal. Something that Lars and James said once before was like walking backwards. I think it's a good album, but it just sounds kinda contrived to my ears. 'Endgame' or any other Megadeth album (except 'Risk') has just been Dave doing what Dave does naturally. 'Risk' is in my opinion a Marty Friedman inspired (or induced) album in the sense that Marty used to bitch about the "greyness" of metal music. Ultimately what I am trying to say is that 'Endgame' IS better than 'Death Magnetic' simply because of the fact that Dave has something to fight for, whereas Metallca has gotten lazy and is simply shadow boxing with itself. Cheers to Dave!!! Keep on fighting brother!!!

I have heard Endgame and musically its pretty badass,i think it leans alittle to heavily on the guitar solos and vocally i think its just weak,but still enjoyable.Death Magnetic has the obvious problems like production and a few questionable songs and well Lars just isnt that good. But overall I think its a much better album.I think if its a shred contest Megadeth wins but Metallica are better songwriters.Just my opinion.

Whether one is better than the other is totally open to subjective opinion, so there's no facts to create a basis.
But here's a fact. Metallica has and always will have scoreboard over Megadeth. That's a fact.
Another thing: Dave Mustaine has to listen to Metallica to measure himself (insecure much there, Davey boy?) and name-drop them for attention, yet no one in Metallica has to listen to Megadeth and name drop them to get attention.

Metallica's first three albums were fantastic.
Their musical ideas were fresh, innovative and creative
Every release after 1986, was a step down.
Justice was a poor man's Puppets.
The Black Album was a polished/condensed version of "Justice" or simply, "Metal that housewives could get into."
Load & Reload were abominable.
St Anger was like a horrible shit, that you cannot flush.
Death Magnetic was an embarrassing sounding, poorly written album and anything else they record in the future, will be as well.
These guys have had their time, now it's time to take the old nag out into the woods and shoot the fucking thing and bury it in a shallow grave.

I'm a big fan of both bands, but I'd have to go with Dave on this round. Death Magnetic is a good album, but I think new album syndrome got to me, because it wasn't shit. Every song on the album is like 8 minutes long, packed full of riffs that don't connect, and the lyrics are just not up to par with Metallica's standard stuff. Not to mention the god awful shitty production values of DM. I just think Endgame is a far superior album in terms of production, technicality, lyrics, etc.

Anyone who has any taste or understand how music is made will realise how shit Craptallica's latest effort is. Uninspired riffs, no structure, terribly mixed and cringe-worthy vocals from the master of bland - James Hetfield. That's basically what Craptallica actually is - bland. They've been bland since the late 1980s.
Dave is right. Despite his attitude problem, Endgame is superior in every way. Incredible guitar work, solos are insane, pounding bass, all put together with Dave's trademark snarl.
If you like Death Magentic more, then you're just a bland individual who refuses to be enlightened. Metallica isn't a band, it's a BRAND; a product. Refuse to believe? ST. Anger went platinum, now how did that happen? Oh I know, because the masses prefer to drink shit rather than taste the finer things in life.

I actually think both bands released good late-career albums. I prefer Megadeth as a band, but both are great. I actually just broke down and got Death Magnetic and was shocked how much I like it.
Great year for old thrash, bring on the new Heathen and Defiance.

Enough with the Metallica bitching: you were in the band for a very brief time, didn't actually play on any full albums, and contributed some riffs for a handful of songs. Just grow up and let it go. Fast riffs and "thrash" songs do not equate good music.
Great songwriting does, and combine good songwriting with Hetfields ability to write "hooky" and intersting riffs: Death Magnetic > Endgame
Good music is memorable music, endgame is not memorable.

If you're some delutional, arrogant asshole like Mustaine is (who does not realize that he's LOSING FANS...day in and day out) , and just like to take a dig at Tallica, then you're as worthless of a human being that this guy has become/or have been. Endgame is GOOD at best. Death Magnetic, however...had better structured, MEMORABLE songs (riffs, solos, melodies). If you don't play guitar...then I can understand the disagreement. But if you're a seasoned musician...then I'd think someone in their right mind would agree Death Magnetic > Endgame...as far as better SONGWRITING...period. My 2 cents. Dave Mustaine comments consistantly get the most posts - maybe Roadrunner is making up for the lack of US coverage of Endgame by posting inflammatory out of context statements (again).
Dave seems genuinely proud of Endgame so he naturally says he prefers it... to Metallica's latest (which I think is great) or anyone else's latest release. He does concede that they have produced better stuff than him... which is a pretty fair statement for someone who is reviled as an 'egomaniac'.
He'll never be able to win with his critics - because everyone wants the drugged up crazy that he used to be - which was the guy that always had something bad to say about someone else. But they also want him to 'shut-up'. Give the guy a break, he answers honestly, his stuff is always taken out of context and blown up to something else... inevitably about Metallica.
As fans I think we should shut our mouths up from all the abuse and negative crap we spout off about these musicians and be grateful that Death Magnetic is a great Metallica album and Endgame is a great Megadeth album and if we don't like it we go listen to whatever we do like (which is probably inspired by Metallica and Megadeth)... at least we should shut up the crap until we produce a new genre of music and inspire thousands of bands; we create brilliant albums (of the calibre of MOP and RIP) and we're doing the interviews and then we can slate whoever we want.

First of all, as always, the Blabbermouth headline is a highly misleading quote taken out of context. If you actually read the article, it turns out that Mustaine is much more diplomatic in his answers than the headline suggests. Of course, more than half of the posters on here don't read past the misleading headline.
Second, it appears to me that most reviewers and generally anyone who is not a blind Metallica fanboy agrees that Endgame is better than Death Magnetic. However, since Death Magnetic is an extremely mediocre (if not just weak) record, that's not saying much. Dozens or indeed hundreds of metal albums have been released during the past twelve months that are more appealing than Death Magnetic, so it is a really low benchmark for comparison.
The real question is whether Endgame ranks amongst Megadeth's finest efforts. Only time will tell I guess, but so far I'm not overtly impressed. It's good, and much better than Death Magnetic, but still not one of my highest rated albums of 2009 just yet. But perhaps this record (in contrast to Death Magnetic) will grow after repeated listenings.

Once again he has shown up Metallica and being a hardcore fanatic prior to Cliff's passing I have to say I feel a certain amount of glee seeing Metallica revealed for the poseurs they are.

Well Let me be the first to say I love both bands I've seen Metallica nearly 30 times and Megadeth nearly 20 times for real!!! and on Nov.9th I'm seeing Metallica at Van Andel and Megadeth at the Orbit room on Nov. 14th same city Grand Rapids, Mich. I am so in heaven I've never seen both so close to each other it will be my chance to see who owns who on this one but my question to all is can't anyone man up and just say they love both these bands I certainly do!!! They both made great fuckin' records in my book better than some of the old shit as for the mighty four tour I would like to see Testament added to that roster make it the mighty five I say!!!!

So what if metallica play long riff and boring in your opinion? it's about music, it's about support to the artist that give you performance of their talent.

both are really solid albums but so far i gotta go with DM at the moment my opinion may change later on but for now i think Metallica wins my vote.
i hope they compare to two by touring together and playing each album in full and let the fans decide after the show

the reason why they sell so much is cuz they sold out at just the right time with the black album...they got bob cock to produce...they dumbed down their metal for the masses....... metallica was now cool for your parents your sister ...with songs like nothing else matters and unforgiven ......hey man it was brilliant on their part...made them so filthy rich...but the music sucked in my opinion...load and reload werent even metal albums....you said they evolved in their own style...but st anger and death magnetic definitely sounds like metallica trying to reach back to how they used to be and rehashing old riffs to prove hey we can still do it....and it me it sounds pretty shitty.....as far as mustaine.....he says a lot of stupid shit but he's a a fucking legend ...unlike kirk whos a glorified soloist but he cant even do that anymore

I mean, seriously, I own both Death Magnetic and Endgame. But you have to admit, if you own both, you know Endgame is better.
It's as simple as 2+2 = 4,
Endgame > Death Magnetic
There is a lot of riffs in Death Magnetic, very simplistic ones, with lame choruses and yelling. Except in Endgame there is a genuine melody and unique solos that are different from song to song.
In Death Magnetic the solos are forgettable and similar in each song. After years of playing rock and little to any metal, how can you expect Death Magnetic to be better than Endgame?
Do you really think Hetfield even remembers how to play all of his old Metallica songs?
To reiterate my point, if you've listened to both YOU KNOW:
Endgame > Death Magnetic

For example, I own both.

ok, so I spun DM and Endgame back to back... honestly, is there really any comparison???
Like some on here are, I was a fan of both bands, infact, a bigger Metallica fan than Megadeth up until 1990. For Metallica, the 90's were a disaster and did nothing but corrode their metallic luster of pre 1991 material. While Youthanasia and Cryptic weren't as thrashy as RIP, they were still within the realms of metal. Risk was a joke, Dave has explained the story behind that one. TWNAH wasn't much of an improvement, but having seen the band live, it was apparent Dave didn't have the right caliber on 2nd guitar and drums. TSHF showed promise that Dave still had it in him. UA revealed more. Broderick, at least IMO, helped rekindle the fire within Dave.
I was ecstatic when I heard Death Magnetic. I wanted to believe Metallica was out for redemption. I mean come on, we're talking Metallica here, a band who WERE the kings of metal. I wanted to believe they realized their errors of the '90's, but it's not to be. At one point, Hetfield & Ulrich wrote some intense music and intelligent lyrics. That disappeared circa 1991, which leaves me wondering where the intelligence went as the lyrics of Load/Reload were not so and St. Anger just seemed childish jibber. So, though perhaps not in sales/numbers, Dave Mustaine/Megadeth has been better than Metallica. It did seem that for at least 2 albums, Mustaine was in tune with what Metallica was doing. ( Attempting commercial success Black Album/Countdown and then the '90's "alterna-metal" Load/Reload and Risk ). Then it seems someone if not Dave in the Megadeth camp woke up and Megadeth went their own path. Thank the metal gods that Dave didn't do a "stripped down, raw emotion" album that Metallica "had" to do.
Continue the course Dave, one day the mindless sheep will see the light... I did.

But even from an unbiased standpoint, the man was being real. He was also being modest, he admitted defeat to some of their material if you'd read the interview... He's very proud of this record, and there's nothing wrong with that. He's been pleasing a fanbase for the better part of a 25 year career, so I'm pretty sure he's aware that he's doing something right.
I don't think it's DAVE that needs to shut up, Blabbertards...

Dave may be an asshole a lot of times, but he´s right concerning the his album. Endgame has everything Death Magnetic has not - good songs, good sound, melodies, diversity and I even like the vocals more than on DM which was never the case before because in the end Hetfiled is the better singer. It´s the best Megadeth record in years, thumbs up!

its an age old argument this,
i bought endgame and i fuckin loved it, say what you like about dave but more often than not with megadeth albums he's always produced the goods, thats not to say metallica havent just nt since 1986 (yes people im a droogie) im not one of the many people on here who are fans of one band so feel they need to badmouth the other, i respect what hetfield and co have done but from the black album onwards well theyve just gone all jon bon jovi on us i think, but i do own most of of metallicas records.
black album and everything since has just been lars and james gagging on corporate cock, im sure all you metallica fans are outraged by my slagging off of your beloved sellouts but dave has done the same, well he never gagged on corporate cock probably just gave it a handjob, daves answer to black was countdown and i prefered that simply because to me it was megadeth maintining the heavy element but trying new things and up until risk the heavy side was always there where as metallica just lost it and never got it back.
may not sound like it but i do like metallica just that megadeth were always miles infront to me, fast forward to more recent times, im a soldier in the british army and i ordered death magnetic from hmv.com during my tour of afghanistan in summer 08, couldnt wait for it to get to me because from what id read it was supposed to be amazing and with rick rubin doin things instead of bob cock i thought "yeah the album will be a winner" i was wrong it pained me to listen to it i got the same kind of feeling that i had when i heard the world needs a hero,by that i mean i was expecting a back on form megadeth and didnt get it, same thing applies here to metallica, so hot on its heels came endgame and well would you beleive it dave has still got the magic inside him somewhwere and he fucking hid it well didnt he? the album is what id been hoping for a long time.
As for all you lot that ripped into dave because he likes his music more than metallica's, well fuckin DUH! of course he's gonna say that i mean what do you expect him to say?

I cant believe some of the comments here, Death Magnetic better than Endgame? How is that possible, the people saying that is fanboys, I like Metallica (especially pre black album) but calling Death Magnetic a better album than Endgame is by the people who stick by Metallica, because they are Metallica. If It was Metallica who released Endgame, Endgame would be better. Some people are sad, Metallica used to be tremendous, hell I even like the black album and load, but In no way does Metallica even compare to Megadeth anymore. I even see on Youtube, some Metallica fans rating their favorite Metallica albums, and in a lot of them I see Death Magnetic in the top 3.
How is that? I'll tell ya why, Most of the Metallica fanboys are in denial and make themselves believe that Death Magnetic is actually good, they make themselves believe that Metallica are back, they're not. Thinking that they are is pathetic. It took Metallica 8 years to release 1 horendous album (st.anger) and 1 okay album (Death Magnetic). It took Megadeth 9 years to release 1 good album (the world needs a hero), 1 great album (the system has failed), 1 very good album (united abominations), and 1 instant classic (endgame). What does that tell you, the metallica and megadeth feud is boring cause megadeth are simply better and i know all the fanboys deny this, but thats cause they know the truth but they will still say metallica is better...and that aint true.
