Ex-BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTIN In Brazil: More Video Footage Posted Online - Sep. 24, 2009
Fan-filmed video footage of former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin performing the SABBATH classic "The Shining" on September 6, 2009 at Blackmore Rock Bar in São Paulo, Brazil can be viewed below (courtesy of "kajibrino").

Martin was recently forced to cancel his U.S. tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the SABBATH album "Headless Cross".

Martin's band, which was to be called HEADLESS CROSS, was set to include the following musicians:

Tony Martin (BLACK SABBATH)- Vocals
Rolf Munkes (EMPIRE) - Guitar
Jamie Mallender - Bass
Danny Needham (BAILEY'S COMET, RAZORBACK) - Drums
Geoff Nicholls (BLACK SABBATH) – Keyboards

BLACK SABBATH released six albums with Tony Martin on vocals: "The Eternal Idol" (1987), "Headless Cross" (1989), "Tyr" (1990), "Cross Purposes" (1994), "Cross Purposes Live" (1995) and "Forbidden" (1995)

Just kidding. With any luck, Tony will get to reschedule that U.S. tour. His band sounds friggin' great. The first set of USA dates was kind of fucked up,so hopefully it will get more organized if he gets another shot at it.

from ignorant remarks about Dio above, I'd chime in and say just how awesome it would be for Martin to tour and do his Sabbath material. He did some real good albums, very underrated. "Headless Cross" and "TYR" are favorites of mine. And the fact is, Martin was very important in keeping Sabbath alive through ought their dry years. Tony Martin is underrated (though I will always prefer Dio more), and some day I hope the Sabbath album he did will all get remastered, etc. Most of them really deserve it (except perhaps "forbidden"). Tony Martin was indeed the voice of Sabbath during the lean years and deserves much more respect than he sometimes gets. I still listen to those albums quite a bit. And he still kicks ass! The band sounds great.

COMMENT | Tony is a great singer

Forbidden should be remastered (and remixed) too. The rough mix of that album was heavier than the final product.

I like Martin's albums with Sabbath but this video confirms for me that the guy isn't much of a frontman. There's all kinds of energy in this song and he's standing there looking bored. I have the "Cross Purposes Live" video which is much the same and heard that he was ill at the time or something so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.... he still sounded good but looked dead on his feet. The dude sounds great but needs to wake up on stage a bit. I guess some people are just more fit for the studio, where they can't be seen. :) As a singer I think he's great, and love "Eternal Idol" and "Cross Purposes" for example... hell even "Forbidden" had some stuff on it that was really good, even though it wasn't as solid top-to-bottom as other efforts.

I think TYR is one of the best Sabbath albums ever regardless of singer.

The best singer Sabbath ever had was Ian Gillan, sorry, its true.
