AEROSMITH's JOE PERRY On Meeting MCCAIN And His Own Political Ambitions - Sep. 25, 2009
The Hill reports that AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry was on Capitol Hill Thursday (September 24), where he met with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and performed onstage at a Rock Stars of Science conference promoting the health sciences and scientific research.

Perry endorsed the Arizona Republican last fall in McCain's failed bid for the presidency, and he was very impressed with the senator when he met him Thursday.

"I felt better about politics in general after meeting [McCain]," Perry told The Hill. "He's a war hero, and they're the most genuine heroes. Anyone who does what [soldiers in combat] do, they're amazing heroes. Forget about guitar heroes. It's an overused word."

When asked whether he would ever consider running for office, Perry replied, "Sure, if I ever find myself in that position, I could see changing things up a little. I've been playing rock and roll for a long time now, and if California can have actors for politicians, then maybe the rest of the country can have musicians."

I don't agree with Perry's politics, but he's crazy if he thinks he could be a politician. People went nuts when Obama said he did pot and coke in college. Perry was a full blown junkie for like a decade. No chance dude! Maybe try to make a halfway decent Aerosmith album instead!

You, Mr Socialistic Obama-Bot, need to shut the fuck up.

Isn't there some kind of "Hope" or "Chnage" you should be believing in right now??

If you get your way, you won't even be ALLOWED to speak your mind in public anymore you jackass.

It cracks me up when people say Obama is a socialist. Why? Because he gaves banks bailout money (same thing Bush did) so credit could free up and we won't totally spin out. Ohh lets not forget that he wants basic heath care so everyone has the right to live?

If your so opposed to Socialism little Jhonny, when you hot 65 don'y refuse your Social Security and Medacare. Jack ass

...couldn't agree more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Obama is perfect, he has (and will) make mistakes, but he's infinitely better than the last cue-ball brain we had. No matter what you think of him, I get the sense that he cares and wants to do something...and not just for rich friends in the oil industry, or companies like Hallibutan.

As for Joe P running for office...hey, what the hell? Like the current crop of lawyers in Congress are doing so great? What makes a lawyer so good at being a politician anyway? He can't do any worse...

Whether you can be a politician or not pretty much comes down to how much $$$$ you can raise anyway. So don't tell me this country isn't run by the rich.

every presidential election that I can remember the candidates bring up campaign reform and promise to make it a priority. Then they completely forget about it for the rest of their term until the next election or the next candidate brings it up only to forget about it all over again. If these officials didn't have to raise money for their campaign on a daily basis they would have more time to focus on real policy and keep them more honest.

Well, I can't say this for most rock stars but at least Joe Perry knows how to pick a good president!...It's just too bad the "american idol" audience of today plus the few extra tens of thousands of black votes (only because a semi black man was running for office) couldn't see past the sparkling media coverage for the truth and vote for the best man to run our country. It's the shallowness of this nation that will be its downfall...or 2012 whichever comes first I suppose.
Excuse the fuck out of me if I don't want to be forced to pay for healthcare for Juanita and her ten fuckin' kids (or Jane and her ten fuckin' kids for those who found that blatantly racist although it's a well known fact that whitey's not the one popping out babies left and right in a poor family in the U.S. the most). Healthcare is a gift NOT a right. Obama can't come in and think he's gonna be peter fuckin' pan! I work hard for my money and if I want healthcare...I'll work that much fuckin' harder.
It's refreshing to hear from an artist who isn't so die hard liberal...like Bush destroyed their life or some shit!...pffft

...I mean please:

- John McCain was the best man for the job? Based on what? That's he served in the military? I go back to my previous point, how does ANY particular career or job help you prepare for what is essentially being a BS artist? i.e. - a politician. Or perhaps his sparkling choice for VP, num-nuts Palin...was that it? Does anyone realize what a huge bullet this country dodged w/ her?

- Re: your assertion that minorties and their huge families are responsible for driving up healthcare costs (that's how I read what you wrote)...um, I assume you have proof of this? i.e. - that whites do NOT constitute a majority of those living below the poverty line? And those that do, of course take very good care of themselves, never eat fatty foods, work out regularly are responsible, etc and do not need healthcare? Yeah, that makes sense.

- Re: Obama being "peter fuckin' pan" - you're right on that one, he's most certainly not, but I at least give him credit for TRYING and WANTING to make a difference, as opposed to just helping out his well-to-do buddies.

- If you want healthcare, as you said, you'll pay for it all right. Without a public option, the insurance companies are getting EXACTLY what they want...the right to screw everyone up the ass. Everyone thinks this is all about "freedom of choice vs socialism"...so much crap is being sold to you and you're buying it, lock, stock + barrel. This is NOT about delivering healthcare, but maintaining an already BROKEN system so large corporations can continue to make HUGE profits. All at our expense (and this, BTW, is where I'm disappointed w/ Obama.)

But that's ok...keep telling yourself it's about fighting Obama's socialism while you wave that American flag I know hangs outside your house.

And btw - Bush DID ruin a lot of lives...with a USELESS war in Iraq that cost thousands of young people their lives and limbs. Dude - WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!

Why are you so arrogant? You apparently have chosen to fall into the two party trap. Is one side really better or worse than the other? Why blame Bush? Did anything he did personally affect you for the worse? I'm going to guess that you have a computer, somewhere to plug it in, an internet connection, electricity to power it. You are obviously alive, so I'm going to guess that you have access to plenty of food and water. You can type and read so you must have some type of education....Do you realize that while you may not have millions of dollars at your disposal, you are still among the world's wealthiest of people? This isn't because you deserve jack shit, it's because the generations before you paved the way for us to live in the society that we do. You may not agree with oil. You may not agree with war. You may not believe in capitalism. You may not believe in our form of government. But you better goddamn believe that all of these things you disagree with have given us as Americans a chance at a better future. Being born into this world doesn't give you the right to anything but the opportunity to live life to the best of your capabilities, not someone else's.

...you may find this hard to believe, but I agree with a good deal of what you say. I am VERY grateful to be alive when and where I am, have the privileges I do, access to education, computer, internet, etc etc. Close to (if not more than) half the world's population lives below the poverty line...I'm an athiest, so I'll say "there but for the grace of nature go I..."

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean if something happens I don't agree with, I will just sit back and shut up. When those who are clearly misinformed like NuMetalsBetter just spew out a bunch of nonsense like he did, someone has to say something.

Freedom is meaningless if you don't USE it! If that makes me "arrogant", well...so be it.

BTW, despite what you may think, I am not a Democrat...I have no more use for that political party than the Republicans.

And I hate to bust up your fantasy, but megamoca hasn't been sucking me off, I have someone else to do that.
