ALICE IN CHAINS: Video Of Last Night's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Acoustic Performance Available - Oct. 1, 2009
In their first late-night network performance in more than 10 years, ALICE IN CHAINS appeared on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for two consecutive nights on Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30. The appearances followed ALICE IN CHAINS' sold-out national tour and coincided with the September 29 release of the band's new album, "Black Gives Way to Blue" (Virgin/EMI).

The much-buzzed-about event kicked off Tuesday on the Bud Light Outdoor Stage — the largest outdoor stage among the late night talk shows — with an electrifying performance in the middle of Hollywood.

On Wednesday, September 30, ALICE IN CHAINS performed a special intimate acoustic set on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"'s indoor lobby stage. The performance once again included one song from new album "Black Gives Way to Blue" and one classic hit. The September 30 show spotlighted new acoustic track, "Your Decision".

Video footage of ALICE IN CHAINS performing "No Excuses" and "Your Decision" on last night's "Kimmel" broadcast can be viewed below. (Note: The program only included a portion of "No Excuses", but the complete version is available here.)

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, "Black Gives Way To Blue" is on track to sell between 130,000 and 140,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD will likely land in the Top 5 of next week's The Billboard 200 chart, behind latest albums from PARAMORE, MARIAH CAREY, BARBRA STREISAND and BREAKING BENJAMIN.

but for Godssake don't DELUDE yourselves, this is nothing more than a "genuine immitation".

Go back and watch youtube footage of the real thing and compare. One is legendary, one is a damn good stab at reviving the past. Period.

They're not embarrassing themselves one bit, and have every right to do, but it's only "great" if you seriously lower the bar for greatness.

good performance and Will is many times better live then Layne was in the end. and they are not reviving the past or anything like that. they are playing their old songs just like any other band does, but still of course everyone looks to the past like it was better or something and of course bands hit you more in the face on the first few albums and then they just keep on being good and other bands take over the limelight. but still im not happy they are gonna sell less then these artist above, but like most times, the public is stupid.

So ... is that really a scarf around DuVall's neck? Please wake me from this nightmare. I grew up with Alice in Chains and it pains me to see this version passing itself off as Alice in Chains. And honestly, the new album is good. But it's a good Jerry Cantrell album, not an Alice in Chains album.

william sings so fucking low, can barely hear him, and when ya actually can hear him he's not putting much effort into it, he doesn't do ''would?'' any justice either, don't get me wrong i like him, just wish he'd sing up

When layne Staley couldn't remember the words to "Man In A Box" because he was so fucked up. Sean Kinney's time was all over the place because he was drunk on stage. Mike Inez wondering what the fuck he had gotten himself into. Alice in Chains were a phenomenal studio band, but live? By '93, they were just too fucked up to be consistantly good on stage. Not saying that there weren't good performances here and there, but overall they were worse than GNR live. Now, they put on a great show. And they put out a great album.

Nope.

It's just great.

I'm pretty each time I've seen 'em, every person around me had a look of "Holy fuck. This is amazing." on their faces.

Nothing deluded about that mate.

I knew this band before most.....I saw them on Clash of the Titans in 1991, I saw them in 1993 at Lollapallooza......they are one of my favorite badns and Layne is one of my favorite singers and a huge influence....

When I saw them in summer of Aug 4, 2006.....I saw one of the best shows I had ever seen, easy top 10.....and I have seen hundreds of pro live shows, not including hundreds and hundreds of local shows....

I also saw them in 2008 with VR, made VR look stupid....

Carry on AIC, this is YOUR band.

To the person commenting about a Scarf????

When did clothes dictate a band you like???

Who cares what they wear.

Some of the peopel on here... "Layne was so dark...and William is trying to act dark....and sing to hard."

Give me a break!!! You guys are funny. Layne and crew were a big group of jokers, regular guys. They weren't all mystical like Jim Morrison or something. They wrote some dark stuff but just because you "do drugs" doesn't make you deep and dark... LOL

William is being himself. He is being William DuVall... a guy that loves singing and loves writing music. I see no harm in that. I see no harm in wearing a scarf, sunglasses all the time or whatever! The music on the album is great. Better than anything that has come out in quite a few years.

...and it is NOT a Jerry solo album. Man....compare this album to his solo stuff. It IS DIFFERENT.

agree with you on the scarf, who cares if the music is good?
but still all the AIC albums are similar to the Cantrell solo albums, and thats because Cantrell was and is the main man in AIC.
and so what? his solo albums are great.

Uh, how exactly do you think Layne (or anyone) would sound singing this music at 40+

It's not as raw and 'heroin'd out'? DUH! It's 15 years later.

I swear, some people act as though they wouldnt've aged a bit if Layne were alive and healthy and somehow they'd keep up the 1992 grit forever.

Of course it's not the same. They're not the same people, nor should they be!

AS IF KINNEY AND INEZ WERE IRRELEVANT? SEAN KINNEY'S ALWAYS HAD HIS OWN STYLE OF DRUMMING AND HIS SOUND TO ME IS JUST AS MUCH A PART OF ALICE IN CHAINS AS JERRY'S. AND I DON'T CARE IF JERRY'S PLAYING SOLO OR ALICE OR WHATEVER-HE'S STILL THE SAME MUSICIAN. THIS "VERSION" OF ALICE IS BETTER THAN NOTHING AND I THINK THE CURRENT SONGS ARE VERY STRONG. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT NOW WILLIAM CAN FILL IN THE SECOND GUITAR PARTS WHEN THEY PLAY LIVE. AND BLESS LAYNE, BUT HE'S PASSED ON, THESE GUYS ARE STILL ALIVE...AND KICKING SOME ASS IN MY OPINION. BETTER THAN 99% OF THE FUCKIN' SHIT BEING PLAYED OUT THERE IN TODAY'S MUSIC.
