85-Year-Old METALLICA Fan Gets Backstage Pass To Meet Band

Sean Daly of the St. Petersburg Times reports: Margaret Priebe, 85 — a huge, if unlikely, fan of headbanging heroes METALLICA — became a viral sensation after her story appeared in Thursday's St. Petersburg Times. The Internet, from Fark to Twitter to Facebook, lit up with the Largo woman's story. An international METALLICA site even asked to translate the story into Bulgarian. But the coolest thrill for the recent cancer survivor was yet to come. Before METALLICA's show tonight (Saturday, October 3) at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, the thrash-metal quartet will bring Margaret backstage for a meet-and-greet. A rep from the band's Warner Bros. label confirmed the invitation Friday. Read the entire article from the St. Petersburg Times.

Way to go. Its nice to see something like this. She certainly deserves it. I hope someone films it and put it up for us to see. 85 years old and into metal. Awesome. I hope we can all make it that long Wonder what metal will be like then? And I would love to know, what her history with metal is exactly? Did she see Sabbath and Zeppelin back in the day? Is she a newer metalhead? What's up? Either way, very damn cool. Glad she gets to have some fun.

Well I never drop bad comment on here or degrade someone but after seeing some of the ignorant remarks here. You mofos need to grow the fk up real quick and get out get some sun. Because being stuck behind keyboard thrashing on something like this gota be very ignorant.

All the idiot haters act like they are greedy, and Lars sues all of his fans. Since the Napster incident, have you seen Metallica sue ANYONE at all? Probably not, but if they did, I'm sure you'll find someway to use it against them and call them 'sellouts'
If they really cared that much about money, would they have LiveMetallica (which they actually lose money from providing to their fans)? Would they be willing to hand out free backstage passes, tickets, and other things to their fans either through contests or situations like this?
Nope. You guys are too far into denial to realize that Metallica is a great band who still cares about their fans. Maybe you're getting confused with the Load era, because they were a bit arrogant then. But you gotta let go now, you all just look pathetic bashing a band who is 1,000 times more successful than you could ever wish to be.

To be honest "James Hetfield" I couldn't really care less about Metallica these days, and doubtless they don't care that I don't care.

but also shows most people don't read the full article before posting, giving a lot of discredit to posters on here.
she's been a fan for a decade (10 years) and first heard metallica when they brought out S&M. She wasn't into them when Puppets and all that came out.
this got her into old school metal such as judas priest, sabbath etc
she's a fan, but the sory is she's old, she's not a chick who grew up listening to metal all her life and she can't go educating everyone on what metal was like back in the 60s so calm down everyone.
it's cool to see an 85 year old metal fan, and although it's definitely an unlikely situation having a fan that old, the fact is, most people on here have been listening to metal for more than 10 years, which makes most of us older fans
