FATES WARNING: 'No Exit'-Era Guitar From FRANK ARESTI Being Auctioned - Oct. 3, 2009
A customized, one-of-a-kind 1987 Jackson Randy Rhoads Flying V guitar once owned by FATES WARNING guitarist Frank Aresti is currently up for auction on eBay .

Aresti used the guitar on the band's classic 1988 recording "No Exit" (mixed by the legendary Max Norman, who worked with Randy Rhoads on both "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman"), and is pictured with the instrument on the LP inner sleeve/CD booklet. This is also the exact guitar Frank played in the "Silent Cries" promotional video (see below) that aired on MTV's "Headbangers Ball" at the time.

The auction runs another four days. The current bid stands at $1,800.

No Exit is one of the best Prog Metal albums of all time. Fates Warning are a good band with great players.

FATES WARNING never sounded anything like Q'ryche - if anything, they were very Maiden influenced on their debut, 'Night On Brocken.'

QR were the better band in the 80's but their last album worth a damn was 'Empire' almost 20 years ago whereas FATES continued to release great music in the 90's and beyond.

Albums like 'A Pleasant Shade of Gray' and 'Parallels' make QR sound like amateur hour in comparison. Jim Matheos = more talent & creativity in his pinky finger than all of QR combined.

Fates IMO were heavily influenced by the riffs of Murray/ Smith then Ryche's. And it seemed that Matheos/ Aresti moved on from that style when they started writing Perfect Symmetry, whose riffs were more radio friendly then say the godly Awaken the Guardian era. All in all a great Prog metal band.

If he'd used it for the stuff on Awaken the Guardian then it would be worth having. Sorry, folks, but it's got to be Arch era Fates Warning.

Queenswho?
