LAMB OF GOD Fill-In Guitarist DOC COYLE Gets Hit In Face With Cup Of Water; Video Available

Video footage of GOD FORBID guitarist Doc Coyle getting hit in the face with a cup of water during LAMB OF GOD's September 29, 2009 performance in Dallas, Texas as the support act for METALLICA can be viewed below. (Note: The cup-throwing incident occurs at the 4:22 mark.) Doc can be seen setting his guitar down and going down to the barricade to confront the person who threw the cup. LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe then jumps down to stop Doc from going into the crowd. Doc Coyle is filling in for LAMB OF GOD's Mark Morton on the Richmond, Virginia metal band's current U.S. tour with METALLICA (as well as LOG's headlining "off" dates), which kicked off on September 14 in Nashville and will conclude on November 15 in New York City. LAMB OF GOD's new album, "Wrath", has sold more than 170,000 copies in the United States since its February 24 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Wrath" was produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire. When asked about GOD FORBID's plans for the future, Coyle recently told D-Lux Denim Brand, "We're currently trying to lock down our headlining U.S. tour, which I think is gonna [happen in] November [and maybe going into] December a little bit. So we should have that in the works in the next few weeks. And we'll probably go back to Europe next year for another tour. And we'll probably be looking for a new record label and trying to figure out what the future's really gonna hold. We don't wanna tour too much on a record that's not really supported by the record label. So, I think, [we'll] do one or two more tours, then kind of start thinking about the future." GOD FORBID's new album, "Earthsblood", sold around 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to land at position No. 110 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. GOD FORBID's previous album, "IV: Constitution of Treason", entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 119 in September 2005 after shifting 8,300 units. That guy is an asshole for throwing stuff AND Doc should have finished the song before seeing who it was, he was able to carry on easily enough judging from the video and it was near the end of the song. If you look at the bottom of the video you can see who threw it too.

Go to a concert and throw things to the band who is playing: there are just a few things stupidier than that. The worst is the security staff. Pretty easy to identify the moron, so the right thing to do is throwing him out of the venue, that's all. Musicians are not up there to be the target of stuff thrown by animals that don't know how to behave in a concert, they are in their total right (the musicians) to stop playing because they are not on stage to stand that behavior, period.

The only pussy (other than the sik fk that threw the cup) is the one and one's commenting on this guy shoulda finished the song. This guy had no idea what was in that cup. It could have had diseases in it. Urine. Could have had the simple cold bug or swine flu in it. It could have been acid. What the idiot did was wrong by throwing shit on stage and I probably would have beaten his ass if I saw who did it, but it had NOTHING to do with race. Before the song started, some moron threw something at Randy. Randy ripped him, and all throughout the song, people were throwing shit at ALL of the band members, not just Doc (in fact, Doc only had 1 thing thrown at him, he was just the only one to get hit).

Even though I think bands like LOG and God Forbid are the main reasons why metal sucks these days, still throwing shit at the band is stupid and it's terrible that the guy got away with it. Sure it was unprofessional to quit, but when you're onstage having fun and then someone ruins it, you can't just keep playing. I got a tennis ball thrown at me while playing (seriously... who throws a tennis ball at a Metal show?), I had to stop for a second or two to scope the guy out in case he tried more, I gave him the finger and continued on.

True, there are dicks at every show; I can't argue that but I've never been to a show in Houston and stood next to some dude who decided to piss in a bottle and throw it on the ground afterwards. That has happen in Dallas though and no one said anything, so I figured they condone that kinda action there and it goes on all the time hence stereotyping the whole city. And for some clarification this wasn't a festival or anything where the bathroom was a 2 mile hike, we were in a theater; numerous bathrooms just a walk away.

To go to a metal show and throw a cup of water at a metal band is a pussy thing to do. There was nothing unprofessional about Doc stopping during the song (it was over anyway), if I was on stage and somebody threw something at me, I wouldn't want to keep playing either. I'd look for the sorry piece of shit that threw it and want him dealt with. He should have been dealt with, that water could have easily been something else. Shows have been stopped because of injuries suffered due to foreign objects thrown onto the stage.
Anybody reading this: if you go to a show and there's a band going on that you don't like (opening support, before headliner, headliner, whatever), go check out a merch booth or food stand or something, or don't go to the show at all and save your worthless hate for that particular band for the internet.
